Am I too old? Too fat? I don’t think these are the right questions to ask…the right question is, does it look good on me? I am 57 and anything but thin, but I look good when I wear a long oversized top or sweater, long enough to cover my rear, over slim jeans or leggings with the boots tucked in. The boots don’t have to be flats, but more than a two-inch heel is a bit too much. My body is lumpy around the middle, so the jeans must fit perfectly around the waist or else I get the dreaded muffin top…the outfit will not work. If the jeans fit perfectly then the top can be somewhat clingy. I can get away with wearing pretty tight leggings or jeans as long as they’re thick and either black or some other very dark color, and the top is long and loose. I prefer that the jeans or leggings are black or some other dark color, preferably one that blends with the boots. I think it’s a matter of being really objective about your body and not kidding yourself, and not looking like you are trying too hard. I really believe in the principle of loose top, form-fitting bottoms, or form-fitting top, loose bottoms.
The answer to this has nothing to do with age, height or weight but rather with body structure. If you can get into a pair of slim jeans without having to lie down on the floor to pull them on, then the odds are that your legs are slender enough to wear this style. Knee boots look great with this style as do ballerina flats. And, if all that is a “go”, my last recommendation is something I always do when I’m buying jeans and that is I make sure I check my backside! It never ceases to amaze me how one cut can flatten my rear like a pasta press while another one can reveal the J Lo in me. Obviously, you want to create the latter effect.
Jeans are universal and are a uniform for all ages. If you have nice legs the slim jean is perfect regardless of your age & with knee length boots it actually can elongate the leg. Women whoâs legs are thick, and they wear tight leggings with boots (any height boot) is not the most flattering. Slim jeans can be more forgiving to the leg structure unless they fit like a sausage.
This is not about age, so please donât use the word âoldâ in your vocabulary.
It’s not so much about age but rather quality, appropriateness and modernity. It’s all about the jeans you choose (simple, uncontrived and navy would be great) and the boots (flat ones–perhaps equestrian in inspiration) and the way you put it all together (with a mid thigh length sweater, cape, etc. to cover the “backside”) as an ageless look.

I am 67 and I wear skinny jeans and boots and look better than many of the younger crowd. If you are comfortable and feel that you like the way you look I say go for it!!! Enjoy your life…….
Wow what a timely question as I just thought about that myself. I just bought a pair of amazing Michael Kors riding boots and the details scream slim jeans. As long as you feel good in them and feel like you look good in them then I say absolutely. J Jill has a great lightweight corduroy long top that I wear with mine belted and I have gotten lots of compliments and I am just a few years behind you.

Not as long as you’re slim too 🙂 I have a friend over 70 who looks adorable in that style. She’s just a knock=out!

As long as you’re slender-ish, keeping in mind the view from behind, absolutely wear them.

Too old? HUSH. I’m 58 and won’t be seen in anything BUT skinny jeans. They make me look taller & more slender.
