I’m looking for a new haircut. I thought I had one but my husband hates my hair straight. My hair is highlighted and very fine and thick. It has some wave in it but I want a hairdo that my husband likes and I do too. Help!!!

I would notice someones hair style that you like and you think suits them and ask them where they have their hair done. A lot of salons do consultations, so call and set up an appointment for a one. Hopefully they will give you ideas and something that both you and your husband will like.
    Best of luck.

You might try finding a stylist in your area that can work with your waves.

Chrisiti, seems like every time we try to change our hair for a more modern or fashionable style, our husbands son’t like it. I will even bet he complains if you change the color too light! LOL! Ok so here is what I suggest. First understand that we don’t see ourselves as others see us. Also we don not know what truly is our best style for our face based upon our skin color, shape, and of course our age without education. A few suggestions that have worked for me. Have your husband show you in a magazine or photo the style he thinks is great for you. Then go to a professional salon and ask for a consult with a master cutter. Let the professional know you are looking for a change but would like them to recommend a style and color that would compliment you. After this show them the picture your husband has in his mind for your hair. Let them make the decision and understand they will truly use their knowledge for your benefit to please you not only so you can come back to their business but they have the eye for the correct styles etc.
If your husband can attend the salon consultation with you that would be like hitting the jackpot.
Many times men have images of what we should look like based on other peoples hair and since we are not identical beings what is best for one woman is not the same as another. I have found that if I want to be truly satisfied and also have the raving compliments from my husband than asking for his input and then getting the best professional decision leads me down a very happy path. I know. I tried almost every color and style and today my husband still shows me our wedding photo as the “what he likes look” even though I was 23 yr old, no wrinkles, cute thin face, and smooth young skin. Now I am battling the grays, heavy features, middle age, and some balding so we have this discussion quiet often..
Just remember, it can always grow back ( we hope)
    God Bless, Mindy

You have some good suggestions. One thing that used to help me was watching to see whom my husband admired. See who catches his fancy, and ask him later about the hair style.

The haircut I am wearing is a simple cut.
You can find it in the books at the stylist salons.
It can be styled so many different ways.
Behind the ears, over the ears, parted to the side with less bangs.
    I love it.
    I think you would too.
    Best wishes, Linda

I buy hair style magazines every few months because I like to keep mixing things up. There’s always new ideas for fun colors and cuts. Another option is to go to a site like THEHAIRSTYLER.COM. You can upload a photo and try on 1000’s of hair styles, as well as fifty colors and highlights. Have fun and good luck!

Look for images of women that have a similar hair type as you. Someone with fine/thick hair (exactly like I have) can’t wear certain styles. I always think that for a celebrity over 50 Helen Mirren always has great hair styles. She doesn’t have long hair, not always straight, but still a lot of movement to it. I’d say to let your hair have more movement – it’s more youthful looking that way.

what would probably work is for you to look at some pictures and let your husband look at them as well. then come for a consult and lets see if the cut and style will work for your hair. you can reach us at 212-986-5620

You’ve got beautiful bone-structure and a well-defined jawline, so I think you could wear a lot of styles beautifully. I do like one straight style for you (but that’s just between us–hubby doesn’t have to see it!): http://www.buzzle.com/articles/very-short-hairstyles-for-women-over50.html

I think just going a little bit less-set will make it look more youthful, and side-swept bangs are always flattering. Good luck, Christi!

You are a gorgeous woman, Christi, so if you have a stylist you really trust, take his/her advice on what they think would work for you. Show us your new pic when you get it done!

Maybe I should upload a more current picture. This one was taken a while back. I’ll try.

Hi, maybe go out and buy the hairstyle magazines, and you and hubby break open a bottle of wine and go thru them. great conversation together and pick a style you both agree on.
