Is it all right to wear a pair of slim ankle pants tucked into an ankle boot. I wore this the other night and loved it, but I’d like to know if this is an out-of-style look?

The look is definitely not out of style, with the pant tucked into the any tpe of boot, shortie style or other. I agree with some of the other comments on wearing a longer top to keep the proportions right, and the look fresh and fashion forward.

Thank you all for your opinions! I haven’t been keeping up with the trends for boots because I think I’m too old (65) for knee-length boots. But a friend of mine bought a pair of ankle length boots and encouraged me to do the same. One evening when I was getting dressed I just thought it would look good to tuck the slim pants into the ankle boots. I wore it with a large cowl neck sweater. I just didn’t know whether it was OK to wear the short books with a slim leg tucked in. Now I’m clear and will continue to wear this look through the winter. Thanks ALL!

I wonder if you mean the slacks taper? ..and you tucked them in? If so–worn with heels it’s an 80′
s look that somehow lingers–but a style (like anything 80s) I personally don’t love. If the pants are slim all the way down (better)–I prefer them with flats. I guess I’m in the minority here…

This is definitely not out of style as very little is if done well. Since you love the look, I’m sure you carry it confidently and that’s half the battle. The other half, as some of the other ladies have said, is proportion: long and slim, but not clingy.
    Enjoy the look!
P.S. I think flat boots are fine, as long as they have a tapered toe.

It is indeed style appropriate! Assuming the boots are current (which, in today’s terms, translates to having a heel of at least moderate height; no flats), you have a fashion-current look.

    Additional considerations:
Keep balance and proportion in mind: a skinny pant calls for a degree of volume in your top — a tunic or longer-length riding jacket that covers the derriere are both great FOF choices. Consider your overall size and bone structure when choosing the heel style. A thin or petite woman can appear “overtaken” in a thick, heavy heel; just as a large-boned or plus-sized woman can appear top-heavy in a kitten heel. The more your clothes relate to who you are, the more naturally confident you appear. Have fun, CAnative!

I think it’s the only way to wear slim ankle pants. Tuck away!

Your look is definitely still in style. Make sure your top is not too tight and short. The slim bottom requires a fuller, more flowing top…Remember to assessorize with a few statement pieces.

No, it’s not out of style. It’s a very happening look, especially now during winter.
You look fairly young so it should work well for you . Merry Christmas !!
