Hello there. Your symptoms sound right on time. I couldn’t stand the dryness. My Ob/Gyn recommend a product found at the health food store. It is wild yams. Ask someone at the store they will likely know what your looking for. It’s about $30.00 for a months worth. It worked for me. Good luck.
Also away have a fan with you. I have one that is bright yellow feather but I didn’t care. I was hot.

I’m 52 and have been in menopause about 5 years and have never taken anything because of it. Neither of my Doctor’s (GYN and Internist) suggest I should. I eat healthy, exercise and just take care of myself! That’s where I would start – don’t start taking something because you think it’s what you are supposed to do at this time in your life. Just stay positive and go buy a new lipstick for your great smile!

I’m 5’8, weigh 140. I eat better than most~fruits, veggies, little beef/pork. We have guinea chicks, so, I also get GREAT nutritious eggs. My weakness is sugar, but, for 4wks now, I have cut that down to ONE “cheat” day a week. I walk/exercise from 1 to 2 hrs every day, also now for 4wks. I’ve always been active, but have kicked it up a notch. I will have a sputum profile done this Friday. I’m really interested to see what the outcome is. I’d like to try the natural if it’ll slow the “aging” process down. So many changes in skin, hair thinning, belly fat, loss of elasticity/adipose, hot flashes (now for a few yrs), scattered brained, difficulty staying asleep (long time problem, actually). Just curious if there’s more that I can do, that’s considered a healthy move.

Hi again! You already sound like you are doing all the right things to take care of yourself. I have quite a few of the same issues you mention, but I just don’t think that they are things that should be alleviated by hormones. If you start messing with hormones, you may create other issues that would never had surfaced. If you had terrible bleeding or some other internal issue that was ruining your quality of life, then I would consider the help of your Doctor. Since most of what you mention I would consider “normal” for our age, I would just embrace who you are and keep doing what you are doing. For sleeplessness, I drink a cup of Allegro Tea’s Peaceful Slumber (from Whole Foods). For breakfast I make a smoothie that incorporates “everything but the kitchen sink” – fruits & veggies (whatever I have on hand), yogurt, almond milk, O.J., super green powder, whey protein, oat bran, etc. My “fast food” is a scrambled egg sandwich (good quality toast, you’ve already got the perfect eggs! & spring mix lettuce, with a very thin layer of mayo). For your snacks, you are on the right track by not depriving yourself and just having a “little” sugar snack! I prefer salty snacks like tortilla chips, olives, etc… For dinner, it’s usually salmon, chicken (sorry!), but not beef, though Bison is pretty good if you happen to crave a burger! My primary place to shop is Whole Foods. They scrutinize what they put on their shelves (no artificial dyes/flavors, no hydrogenated oils, etc.) I buy my vitamins there – Multi, Calcium, Vit. D., CoQ10 (Ubiquinol) with Resveratrol. I’m not sure if you have one around you, but if so and you’d previously avoided it because you thought they were too expensive, give them a try or at least check out their website. For my skin I wear sunscreen daily and don’t try to get a tan. Along with your walking, if you’ve never tried yoga, please give it a try. Well, I’ve been rambling enough, so if you have anything else you want to ask me, please let me know. I hope this helps a little! Just please think twice before starting the hormones – you don’t want to mess with Mother Nature! FYI – I’m 5’2″ 111 lbs.

thanks for taking the time to respond. Rather than a sputum panel, they drew blood, cz my insurance will cover. it’s just the 1st step and will see what’s said about my results. I’m far from miserable, so, I here what you’re saying, just go with the natural flow of aging, while taking care of myself. That certainly has been my intention, or I would have addressed the hot-flashes a few years back. So many other post-meno symptoms, suddenly. Like within a few months, it seems. Guess I’m just not liking it much and want to slow things down, naturally. When I heard about Bio-identical Hrts, I thought, what the heck, I’ll look into it. That’s what I’m doing, and will get results next week. I’ll go from there. Yoga, yes, I should give it a try, or some other form of meditation/stretching exercise. Need to commit to that and give it a real try. You sound like a very healthy, wise and practical lady.

I too, am an huge proponent of BHRT and have had wonderful experience with those compounded for me from my Dr.’s prescription, by Belmar Pharmacy, http://belmarpharmacy.com . I started using them when I learned the nurses in my Dr.’s office all got theirs from Belmar.

Ok, I am post menopusal, but the book I read in the final throes that changed my life was “The Menopause Makeover”. I have lost 43 pounds and weigh less than I did in college! The author explores HRT as well as many other issues that come along with peri, during and post. You can download it on to your kindle ap via amazon. I can’t recommend it enough

Thanks PKW! I’m going to have have a hormonal panel down for bioidentical HRT consideration. I will also get this book. I can certainly pass it on, once read. Thanks again :>

Thank you for the recommendations. I’ve been trying to struggle through this on my own with OTC remedies. I intend to buy the book and check into BodyLogicMD this morning.

Bio-identical hormones can make a huge difference. BodyLogicMD is a great place to start. That’s how I found my doctor. Make sure you get your Thyroid levels checked as well (TSH, T3 and T4) since many times menopause symptoms are very similar to an under active Thyroid which can occur as we get older.

I’ve been hypothryroid for years, inherited, keep it managed. That certainly doesn’t help, but, it’s not the issue. I haven’t had a period in well over a year, and I’ve noticed some definite physical differences since then. Yes, my eggs are officially DRIED UP :< I guess I didn't realize the subtle changes that might occur and have occured over this period of time. (More so in the last several months. I've never really had a prob w/"belly fat", unless overall wt gain. Recently, my bff said, hey, i'm not used to seeing some pooch there. I walk on a regular basis, but, that no longer keeps the tummy flat. My vision has been diminishing over the past few years, but, I've noticed an accelerration over past several months. I've just been wearing readers. So many other things, like flab, wrinkles in face, cellulite in places i've never had it, minor incontinence if I don't keep the bladder emptied, hot flashes (had for a few years now), more fatigued I think, etc., I know this is ALL related to the "change". I just don't want to do synthetic HRT's. I don't know if bio-s will slow all this down, or even alleviate some of it? I'm not ready to look or feel OLD!! I refuse to just "let" it be and do nothing. Anyway, I've been hearing some things about the bio's and just need to look into it asap. I'm wondering if this requires a RX? I just need to check it out. Thanks for the input. You're the 2nd to mention it.

I also wanted to say that regular Meditation is wonderful for your skin, because in a meditative state you are relaxed and all the muscles in your face relax…worked for me..and continues to work for me..

Well, first of all you look great in this picture. Some people are leaning toward the bioidenticals with great results…I found that hydrating more, exercising and really buying good skin care as well as taking supplements that not only replenished my body but also replenished my skin worked very well. As far as the vision there are supplements for that as well, however, they did not work for me. I wear glasses for reading…
