How long does a facelift last?
Is it safe to have more than one?
Is there an age when you should stop having cosmetic surgery (except for Joan Rivers who never stops.)
It usually lasts 6 to 10 years, although the older you are when you have the first one, you may need a touch up before 5 years. It is safe to have more than one. If your general health is good, there is no top age.
While there are many opinions about this, I believe that one needs to have a facelift once in their lifetime. There isn’t a chronological time when this is performed that could be in the 60s or even the 70s. With the advent of fillers and nonsurgical tightening procedures like Ultherapy, Facelift is commonly performed in patients in their 60s In my practice. Just looking at the posted picture, barring your full physical examination you seem like a good candidate for eyelid rejuvenation prior to a facelift.
Some actually think Joan looks pretty good for her age. No one can actually say objectively the time benefit of a facelift, but a bona fide facelift procedure (as there are many “mini” procedures that claim to do the same) can last 5 years or longer. If you had a twin sister that did not have a facelift, you would look better than her after 5 years. Of course, much depends on you, not just the surgeon or the procedure…diet, exercise, healthy habits, and limiting sun exposure will all contribute to looking and feeling better for a longer period of time. More than one facelift can be performed.
