I am 22 and have two kids one which is 5 and 1 that just turned 1. I am concerned because of my age doctors will not be interested in performing the surgery.

Your age is not an issue. If you are planning to have more children soon, you might consider waiting, but without a consultation and physical examination, it is impossible to give you a definitive answer.

Age is not a contraindication to surgery. During the consultation, your weight and medical history will be assessed and an examination will be performed. A tummy tuck is not always the best procedure after pregnancy and other alternatives such as liposuction will be reviewed if indicated. Regardless, your age is not a problem. Good Luck.

While we sometimes say it is better to wait and have a tummy tuck after you are done having children, your age of 22 is not of a concern to us in performing this surgery.

There is no medical reason why you could not have a tummy tuck. The question you have to ask yourself is whether you plan to have more children. If you do, then many of the benefits of the tummy tuck will be negated and you may want to have another one in the future.

On the other hand, if you anticipate a number of years before (or if) you have another child, then a tummy tuck can be legitimately considered.

There may be lax skin, stretch marks, etc from your two children. It would be wise to speak to a surgeon about what can be improved in your particular case.

    Good luck!

There are different reasons why a surgeon may not want to perform your surgery. But assuming it is because he feels that it is too soon or that you are too young, you need to be aware that any future pregnancies can affect a tummy tuck to the point that you will need either a revision or a repeat tummy tuck. Plus your weight should be stable, and you should not be overweight as well. I hope that helps.

There is no reason you can not have a tummy tuck. Although one would hope you would do surgery after you are done having kids, if you have a tummy tuck and then get pregnant, there are no problems.
