after done with Chemo I started breast reconstruction, the new nipple did not make it, I have heard so many negative stories from fellow patients saying, keep trying might cause more skin loss at the area ( to build a new nipple doctor’ll need to cut off the skin already used once, ) so less skin available to use, thus once new nipple did not make it, chances it will not. so we better just forget it and be happy with what we have. any chance over there?

Its amazing how everyone is willing to tell you the bad but not the good. Getting nipple project can be difficult if the skin is tight, thin or radiated. After one attempt it is best to wait as long as possible, up to a year and then return to have the skin re-assessed. If the skin continues to remain too tight then 3D tattooing might be an option or grafting (nipple-sharing) could be considered. But you should returned to your surgeon to discuss the options available to you.

Nipple reconstruction is something that can be done “again” if the patient desires. It is recommended to wait some period of time after the first one that necrosed to totally heal. I would wait at least a year from the first nipple reconstruction and then go back to see your plastic surgeon for evaluation and further options for nipple reconstruction. Hang in there!
