I’m 2 months post op full tummy tuck and still has a big tummy like before. I can barely fit into my jeans which I’ve been using before surgery and it still fits the same as it was. When do I see the final result of my tummy tuck? I’m frustrated that my tummy looks big like before surgery.

I am afraid I have to disagree with the other opinions offered here. I explain to all of my TTuck patients that it takes a full 6 months to get your final result. Don’t be discouraged. It will get flatter. There is no way to get around the calendar!

This is very unusual. At two months there still may be minimal swelling, but you should be seeing a flatter tummy, a cinched in waist and tighter smoother skin than before surgery. See you plastic surgeon right away to share your concerns.

Thank you for your question. In general, the resolution and evolution of edema after surgery is as individualized as the person and the procedure itself. Swelling usually peaks 48 hours after surgery and then begins to slowly resolve. In a majority of patients, more than half of the swelling and bruising resolves in the first two weeks after surgery. The remainder of swelling and bruising can take several more weeks to dissipate and this varies depending on the type of surgery and physiologic properties of each patient. A history and a thorough physical exam would be required to accurately discuss your situation. I recommend that you discuss your concerns with your plastic surgeon at your next follow up visit.
