I’m very interested in having my eyelids done. How to select a plastic surgeon. I live in NYC hence, I don’t have to tell you how many there are. Many thanks!
Thank you for your question. Eyelid surgery is one of the commonly performed procedures performed at Park Avenue Plastic Surgery by Dr. Monasebian. As with any Plastic Surgery procedure, make sure it is performed by a doctor certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and ask this doctor to show you pictures and review the entire procedure with you.
We will routinely review all aspects of the procedure with you.
During your consultation, all fees will be discussed in more detail as well. Please call us to discuss this further.
We look forward to meeting you soon.
Eyelid surgery is one of the longest lasting procedures that we do. But it has to be done subtly and carefully — just enough to rejuvenate but not enough to change the shape of the eyes. As my colleagues have stated, first and foremost is to assure yourself that the surgeon has proper credentials — check those out carefully. Make sure the surgeon is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery or is an ophthalmologist trained in oculo-plastic surgery.
Next, check out the surgeon’s website. Speak to some friends who have had good experiences with eyelid surgery. And then arrange for two or even three different consultations. You may find that the surgeons may have different perspectives about the surgery. For example, sometimes, a brow lift might be indicated with or in place of upper eyelid surgery. And then choose the surgeon with whom you feel most comfortable and confident.
The fee should be the least of your considerations — your results will be there for a very long time — and long after the fee is forgotten.
One final note of encouragement: eyelid surgery, from a patient’s perspective, is one of the easiest procedures to undergo. There is only minimal discomfort afterwards — just some feelings of pulling an tightness but no actual pain. Best of luck!

If you don’t want to ask a friend or your medical doctor, web sites such as this can help. Check our credentials, for cosmetic surgery you want one board certified by the American board do plastic surgery. We offer a complimentary appointment and will show photos of what you can expect. Choose a doctor who answers your questions and spends enough time with you. Don’t just pick a doctor on price, you pay for quality and experience, also remember, you often get what you pay for.
Thanks for your question that many people like you have on their mind. Of course it can be very difficult to find a surgeon that will be a good fit for you. Certainly make sure they have the proper credentials, one that is endorsed by the ABMS (American Board of Medical Specialties). Many tout a “Cosmetic Surgeon” credential, which is not an approved board under the ABMS. Boards such as the ASPS, ensure that you are getting someone who is properly trained in technique and safety. Once you have done that research, then look at their website and reviews online. Then schedule a consultation and ask good questions, such as recovery, placement of scars, and ask to see photos. Ask about potential complications and how they are handled. A surgeon who is a good fit for you will “feel” right. Hope that helps.
Thank you for your inquiry regarding blepharoplasty surgery.
