{Test This} mybody Fitting Room 3-step slimming solution

——————————————————————————————————————————————

What if you could zap cellulite and tone your bod just by applying lotion two times a day? One company says, you can.

Here’s the skinny: the new Fitting Room™ 3-Step Slimming Solution by mybody includes an exfoliator, serum, lotion and massage tool. Used in three steps, two times a day, the trio will work on “cellulite-prone” areas and “you’ll experience a noticeable reduction in cellulite and achieve an overall slimmer figure in just one month,” according to the product press release.

The kit which is valued at $245 is available exclusively through medical professionals and includes a laundry list of ingredients from the more familiar such as vitamin E (promotes moisture) and glycolic acid (exfoliating and revitalizing benefits), to more unusual substances, such as papaya enzyme (digests dead, dry skin) and beta glucan (an oat derivative derived that reportedly improves the appearance of sagging skin).

Fat chance or highly probable that this 3-step kit will tone your bod? 7 FOFs will test it.

{Test This} Dream Water

——————————————————————————————————————————————

In a survey sponsored by Red Hot Mamas and Sunovion Pharmaceuticals, Inc., 79 percent of menopausal women reported having trouble staying asleep, and 63 percent struggle just trying to fall to sleep.

Relax! One company says they have a product that will make good quality sleep more than just a dream for FOFs. Dream Water (retail value: $2.99 for a 2.5 fl. oz. bottle) will “help lull you to sleep and lead to a more refreshed state the next day,” according to the manufacturer. “Try drinking a full bottle…roughly 20 to 40 minutes before bedtime” if you have trouble falling asleep, they say. If you have trouble falling asleep AND staying asleep, they recommend “drinking half a bottle 20 to 40 minutes before bedtime and then [to] leave the other half right next to your bed. If you wake up during the night just drink the other half…and that should help you back to sleep!”

The zero-calorie drink is made from three all natural key ingredients including GABA (Gamma-Amino Butyric Acid), Melatonin and Tryptophan, which help relax you, induce sleep and improve the quality of your shuteye.

Sounds like a dream come true but we want you to tell us!  We’re sending 10 FOFs 3 bottles of Dream Water each to test. Leave a comment below for a chance to win.

{Test This} nuNAAT’s Ultra Keratin Touch

——————————————————————————————————————————————

“The results were so spectacular, she wept,” reads an article in New York Times about a woman who received a Brazilian Keratin hair treatment. “Such a gushing testimonial is not unusual” the article goes on to say.

The hair treatment, pioneered in Brazil, uses active keratin, a protein akin to a component of human hair. It yields results that are undoubtedly pretty spectacular. Keratin treated hair is sleeker, straighter, shinier and lasts up to a month. We’re sold on the concept, but not so much on the $250-per-application salon bill.

So, when we heard that nuNAAT released a kit which provides you with everything you need to do your own Keratin hair treatment at home, we wanted to know the straight dope.

The kit retails for $24.95 and includes shampoo, gloss and conditioner. The formula is derived from “soybean, corn and wheat that are bio-compatible with hair fibers, allowing for the temporary change in hair structure,” according to the company.

“Very curly hair will become smoother, while naturally straight hair will appear healthier and shinier. Extremely coarse hair types will see a reduction in frizz and curl.” says the manufacturer.  Does this at-home Brazilian Keratin treatment shine above salon treatments? We want to know! 8 FOFs will test this kit. Leave a comment below for a chance to win.

{Test This} Turmeric Antioxidant Radiance Mask

Test This: Juara Turmeric Antioxidant Radiance Mask
——————————————————————————————————————————————
The Turmeric Antioxidant Radiance Mask (retail value $35) by Juara features the exotic spice as a key ingredient. Turmeric is most notably used in South Asian and Middle Eastern cuisines, however, women of these cultures also have a long history using the spice as an anti-ager. In Indonesia, India, Bangladesh and Pakistan, turmeric even plays a large role in bridal beatification ceremonies.

Is all the hype about turmeric–the secret beauty spice–legit or lore? The spice “maintains skin health by neutralizing toxins and fighting off free radical damage, a key cause of premature aging,” according to Juara, the manufacturers of the Turmeric Antioxidant Radiance Mask.

They claim that if you apply their turmeric mask to your face, just two to three times a week for 10 to 15 minutes this “instant pick me up…brightens complexion and evens out skin tone.”

Is this product all spice and everything nice? 6 FOFs will put it to the test. Leave a comment below for a chance to win.

{Test This} Brush on Block

——————————————————————————————————————————————

Brush On Block (retail value: $24.95), from Susan Posnick Cosmetics is a refillable brush with SPF30 sun protection powder.

The product is marketed as “effortless sun protection” superior to “messy, greasy” lotions, sticks and sprays.”

Made from natural minerals–titanium dioxide and zinc oxide–the powder will “sit on top of your skin and reflect the sun’s rays away from your body…unlike chemical sunscreens which work by being absorbed into the skin,” according to the manufacturer. The powder is “invisible” and can  be applied over and under makeup.

The brush is refillable, and its design creates “little risk of the product running or dripping into the eye area and makes it less likely to irritate the skin or clog pores,” the manufacturer claims.

Is this the best UV protection under the sun? 7 FOFs will put it to the test. Leave a comment below for a chance to win.

{Test This} Lisa Hoffman Fragrance Bracelet

——————————————————————————————————————————————

Fragrance bracelets (retail value: $65), launched late last year by Lisa Hoffman (wife of A-lister, Dustin Hoffman), are marketed as “a new way to wear perfume that puts you in control…on when you want and off just as easily.”

The bracelets come in five different color/scent combinations (Japanese Agarwood, Madagascar Orchid, Tuscan Fig, Tunisian Neroli and French Clary Sage). Each has a round charm that holds a fragrance bead. The beads can be replaced when the scent fades.

“As we age, we are more apt to develop sensitivities and allergies,” says Lisa. “I can’t tell you how many times women approach me and are so thankful they can actually wear fragrance without it touching their skin.”

We think this fragrance bracelet sounds scent-sational but is it up to snuff? 10 FOFs will put it to the test. Leave a comment below for a chance to win.

Natural Hair Removal Powder From Puff It

——————————————————————————————————————————————

Hair today, gone tomorrow?

One Indonesian company says they have a product that will make hair on your legs, underarms, face, back, bikini and chin…disappear. Puff It “Miracle” Hair Removal Powder (also known as Puff It Destructurizer) will “remove unwanted hair in 90 days and have your skin as smooth as the day you were born,” according to the company’s website.

Made from a concentration of minerals, with potassium alum sulfate as the active ingredient, the formula has been “tested and tried over the centuries by the local rural people in Indonesia.”

The powder reportedly works by “killing hair at the follicle, making it grow thinner and thinner after use,” the company asserts. “Use as is and wait for the hair to fall off or faster permanent hair removal can be achieved when combined with other hair removal methods (one company rep recommends to use after waxing for the quickest results).”

Is Puff It truly a miracle…or a puff of smoke? 6 FOFs will put this powder to the test. Leave a comment below for a chance to win.

{Test This} Truth in Aging Hair Vitality Complex

——————————————————————————————————————————————

Marta Wohrle knows beauty products. The FOF is a founder and editor of TruthInAging.com, a site that publishes reviews of indie beauty products. A few months ago, she launched her own product–Hair Vitality Complex (retail value: $49 for 1 fl. oz.).

Struggling with her own hair which she says was “getting a little sparser with age,” Marta did some “research, trial and error” leading her to discover copper peptide products were most effective in increasing hair growth and reducing shedding.

“The problem was that most copper peptide products were unpleasant to use and also contained other ingredients that I didn’t like,” says Marta. “Also, they mostly seemed to be aimed at men, not taking into account things like reactions with chemically colored hair.”

Marta got to work on her own copper peptide hair product “especially for women with thinning hair due to hormonal change at menopause and post-partum” says Marta. In March, she launched her Hair Vitality Complex.

According to the Truth in Aging website, “copper peptides exist naturally in our tissues but there can be 60% drop between the ages of 20 and 60.” In Marta’s hair complex the peptides work by “increasing cell proliferation” at the follicle and they also “decrease programmed follicle cell death.”

The website also says the product is sulfate free and uses all-natural radish root ferment as a preservative.

In Truth in Aging’s own trial, of 125 people who used the complex, “70% saw hair growth and reduced shedding,” according to their website.

“I’ve been using this batch on my widow’s peak since the beginning of the year,” says Marta. “I am thrilled with the results. My hairline has completely filled in with proper hair (not that thin, wispy stuff).”

It works for Marta…but will it work for you? 8 FOFs will put Truth In Aging’s Hair Vitality Complex to the test. Leave a comment below for a chance to win.
