I would have to say cheese. I love art of all kinds but I admit that when it comes to what I like in art, my taste leaves a lot to be desired. Cheese though is another issue. I grew up on a farm where my grandparents and parents were farmers and made their own cheeses. This helped me to know the differences in one from another. Also being part of the military I was lucky enough to go around the world and try so many different kinds. I love my cheese!

I love to cook and the differnet flavors of cheese and consistancies lend so many ways to craft a dinner and bring out the taste in so many wonderful ways. When working with cheese you can bring so many dimensions of the flavor to the table that it can become a work of art!

My favorite appetizer to make is a LARGE round of BRIE which is topped with crstalized light brown sugar and slivered almonds sauteed in butter and Amareto! YUM!

Better taste in cheese or art? Well – I have to say I have been eating cheese longer than I have been studying painting, so for this question – “The wife (ME!) takes the gourmet cheese!” Life is to short to eat orange “American” cheese – give me a stout Irish Cheddar or a sharp British Stilton ANY DAY.

I would have to say that I definately have better taste in art than in cheese. I love French artist, with my favorite being Matisse. I have several books on his paintings and cut-outs, several poster prints of his works and even a giclée on canvas of one of his paintings. I am even familiar with his famous relationship with Picasso, and found Matisse to be of far better character! When in France I visited the sites where Degas, Renoir and many other masters painted. However, when it comes to cheese, I am truly a blank canvas! I love brie and I’m sure I would love many of the other French cheeses if only I knew what they were. I would love to have a “French Masters” themed party with a variety of French cheeses and spirits. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Merci!

I do have my own ideas about art and what pleases me – I would never under any circumstances hang a large framed picture over my sofa – if I can’t think of anything more creative than that I’d just get rid of the sofa. lol
Given a creative assembly of cheese though, I think I could find a fun way to present it on this cute palette in the same area as my sofa.
