I would take my husband as he has never been on a plane and he’s hitting his 50’s soon.

  • travelgirl

    Congrats Carolyn! Enjoy your trip

  • tpoage

  • MIKE LINHART

If I were fortunate enough to win, I would bring my lovely girlfriend Anna Clark. Anna just graduated with her master’s degree in special education and holds a dual credential. The whole time she was in school, she worked full time with handicapped children; not only that, she volunteers on weekends with a community agency that provides social activities for handicapped young adults. She is the most hard-working, kindest, and most loving person anyone has ever met. She loves to travel and has told me many times how much she would love to travel to Italy and learn about the culture, history, and foods of the region. She already knows so much about Roman times, their city structure, politics, and daily life, that I know she has a deep interest. Thank you so much!

  • Ashley Clark

I would take either my mom or my dad. From birth to age 4, I was in six different foster care homes in 3 cities. My mom and dad initially took me as a foster child, then adopted me (and my brother and sister!) two years later. I am forever grateful for these two people to come into our lives and basically rescue us from a life of rotating in and out of different foster homes. I am now 19, graduated high school and a freshman in college. My brother and sister are 24, both married, college graduates, and happy. I feel like if I could give this trip to my mom or dad (probably my mom, she’s the one with wanderlust!), it could be a way to pay her back for her sacrifices she made for us. Thank you very much!

  • cathleen clark

He’s told me many times how he would love to visit Rome, all the sights he would visit, the photos he would take, the people to talk to, smells, foods to try, and even music. I know he would deeply appreciate and thoroughly enjoy a trip to Rome! Thank you. 🙂

My friend Sharon would be a perfect companion on this wonderful trip and it’s hard to think of a more deserving person in my life. Daily she helps poverty-stricken individuals and families here in an area of sky-rocketing rents that are completely outside the reach of poor folks. Healthy cooking and eating is part of the award-winning children’s summer program she designed on a shoestring. She’s a cook who delights in serving guests simple, delicious food that looks as good as it tastes. I’m sure I speak for both of us in saying we’d love to go see how fresh, local ingredients make up real Italian cuisine. Long an armchair traveler, I’m sure her arcane knowledge of the stops on this terrific itinerary would amaze everyone.

  • I would love to take this trip with my husband. I am an Italian American and have always wanted to visit Italy. After four years of latin, I love Rome and its history.

  • Kimberley Converse

So I can put the ME in roME and so I can savor gelato. Gelato never tastes authentico as it does in Italy!

  • Anne

My wonderful husband has been asking for a trip to Rome for quite a long time. Circumstances have gotten in the way of making this dream happen.
Firstly, our daughter became seriously ill for 2 years with a deadly intestinal infection she developed after taking antibiotics for a sinus infection. (She has since recovered. ) Currently, my 92 year old mother-in-law is under hospice care. My husband stays with her every weekend and has been hosting many family dinners at his mother’s house when family come to visit her. For the past ten years, he took his mother to Catholic Mass every Sunday. Now, they watch Mass on his computer, from her bed. I expect that being Catholic has a lot to do with why my husband wants to visit Rome! Ha! I guess that must be obvious. When I saw contest to win a trip to Rome, I just had to enter it. Wish us luck!

To win this trip could possibly be what saves my marriage. I would take my husband, who never travels with me any time I take a trip. Winning this would finally have us experience and enjoy another place together. Finally, we would have a wonderful and fantastic experience to share and talk about. We seem to be leading parallel lives and are slowing drifting apart, with little in common anymore. After over 40 years of marriage, I don’t want to see it end.

  • Fran

  • Carla-Margaret (Carla)

I am not entering as they require too much personal info. I have visited there. It was lovely. I LOVE the history of the country. I favorite of mine is to visit old headstones. I touch them a feel I have touched history. DO touch the walls of the Coliseum. You can feel the anguish of those who were slaughtered. Their fears were shouting at me to help and I could not.

I am a 55 year old divorcee and don’t get to spend much time with my fabulous daughter who is over 3000 miles away attending college full time and holding down a full time job while playing on a club VB team. She has no time for herself and inspires me everyday. What a treat it would be to spend time together and make some life long memories! I promised her a trip to Portugal or Italy if she graduated high school if she got straight “A”s….which she did but due to my ugly divorce I was not able to keep my end of the bargain so I would luv luv luv if I can make this come true!

  • Alyson Widen

I went to Rome in the in 1970 and the Italians won the World Cup so they were going crazy and waving flags and driving around on top of cars. It was fun having lasagna and those fat green beans twice a day at the restaurants there. Walking around on tiles and looking at churches and sculptures, admiring leather work and having Italian ices and gelato were other highlights of a trip where I chaperoned my 70 year old grandma while on tour.

  • Jane Sandona

  • Cathy Clark

I would love, love, love to bring my husband to Italy! My grandmother immigrated to America as a teenager and she had many wonderful stories and songs about her homeland. Plus the food she made every week was WONDERFUL. We grew up on Pasta Carbonara, Rigatoni with Pajata, and of course Roman-style pizza (which is in a world of its own!) If I could go to Rome, I would bring my husband. He met my grandmother many years ago when we were teenagers and was a regular at her dining table too. I would first start with the Colosseum (of course), then move on to the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, the Forum, and St. Peter’s Basilica. My grandmother told us many great stories of growing up in Rome, of running amok in the streets and playing ball. How wonderful it would be to visit her homeland!

  • Anita Conley

What a wonderful offer. I would love to win this. My 60th birthday is coming up and I have fallen in love again in the AARP years. I never thought this could happen at my age after learning how to date after many years from a divorce. I would love to celebrate and share this with my special someone to bring in the 60’s decade. He is 66. I might be getting older in the years but still young in spirit life is what you make it. I would feel very blessed for this opportunity.
Rome would be a magnificent trip with it’s culture, people, food, history, romance could not think of a better way to celebrate turning 60 and with the man I have fallen in love with.

I would love to win this because I’ve not had many vacations…only two, and I’m now in my 50’s raising my granddaughter who has special needs by myself. I have been doing this for five years now. I never get a break and have no support….it’s crazy how when hard things appear in your life, your “friends” and “family” disappear. This trip is exactly what I dream about. Congratulations to the lucky winner of this fabulous trip! I have a friend who works very hard and would so appreciate coming along and enjoying every minute!

  • mgkamish

  • Robert Reilly

  • Patti Gunderson

I would take my 82 y/o mother with me. She was having grandchildren during the 8 years I lived in Europe and never had a chance to visit me. Rome and Paris are her dream cities and, at 82, she is still healthy enough to visit. She has always worked hard, getting her RN at 58, and raising 4 children who were, at one time, all under 5! As a military wife, she raised her children and held her family together mostly alone. I know she would love Rome and pasta is her favorite dish!

  • bretandmissy@sbcglobal.net

First is all, thank you Lubrigyn and Fab Over Fifty for this amazing chance of a lifetime trip giveaway! The person I would take with me the person has been not only my best friend, but also my husband. He has always been here for me through thick and thin. Three years after we were married we found out I had breast cancer. From the time I was diagnosed August 4, 2008 until the day of my surgery, November 12, 2008 he was with me for every doctor appointment, every biopsy, MRI, and every other appointment I has gone to. After four days in the hospital, I was finally able to get up and take a shower. The nurses told my husband he could he’ll me with my surgery (I had four drainage tunes in four different locations, my IV, along with all of the incisions I had). I could barely walk and I was unable to use my arms at this point). He jumped right in there to make sure that I got a shower, clothes and all. When I was able to go home, after five days, he had to do absolutely everything for me. He had to help me out of bed because I was unable to get out of bed alone because of the abdominal incision (which was a part of the type of surgery I had; kind of like a tummy tuck but use this as a means for reconstruction for my new breasts). He has to help me to the bathroom, bathe me, strip my drainage tubes daily, change my bandages a couple of times per day and more. I am sure you get the idea. He was my rock and my blessing, and still is my blessing to this day. This is the kind of person her is…he deserves so much more than I could ever give him. Taking a trip like this to Italy would be just a small token of showing him what he means to me, and how thankful and blessed I am to have him in my life.

  • Christine Norman

I would go with my husband of 20 years.

  • theponyhalf~

I would take my husband. We have not had a vacation together in 10 years. It would be incredible to share the wonders of Italy with him.

  • Sherri Anderson

I would take my best friend who deals with doctors appointments, IEPs (Individualized Education Plan) for four children, subdureal hematoma’s, hydrocephalus, Ataxia, Apraxia, unemployment, paying bills from “savings” for four years, “never doing enough” and does not have a life for herself but for her spouse and children. She NEEDS time away to have herself first and be the most important person for a while.

  • John Agwazim

    Nice.

  • Fran Hoagland

Going to Italy has been a dream of mine for decades. I would take my daughter with me as she is the best traveling companion I could ask for. She loves to travel too but her husband, like mine, never wanted to. She’s recently divorced after 20 years of marriage and this would be an awesome trip for us both. I’d love to see The Vatican, other than pictures and the Coliseum would be the icing on the cake. This is a dream trip for anyone.

  • btherese4

I would take my husband; we are celebrating our 1st anniversary on April 4, 2016. We met in school and dated and broke up and didn’t see each other again until 2014. This would be our honeymoon!

I would bring my husband with me if I won this wonderful trip. I went to Italy shortly after we met and he could not come with me then.I always said I’d go back with him but it has been 30years and we still haven’t gotten there.

  • DLori27

I’ve been progressively getting sicker & sicker for the last few years. I simply don’t feel I have much time left. My mom, who I love dearly, just turned 84. I would love to use the time we both have left and go away together, having fun for the first time in ages. I’ve never been to Europe. This may be the last time we have the opportunity to do so.I need some quiet time in one of the most religious cities in the world to appreciate and celebrate all the beauty that exists around us and celebrate the immense love my mom and I share for each other.

    • Patti Gunderson

please don’t give up. I started with uterine cancer which spread to my liver since my doctors blew me off for 2 1/2 years. After 3 chemos I seem to be cancer free, so far. My tumors are shrinking and my blood tests are coming back clear. I hope you can have such a good outcome. Make your doctors find out why you are unwell. I finally had to trick and shame my doctors into giving me the test that diagnosed me. My mother is 82 so I assume we are of an age (61). I hope you have many years of good life in front of you!

      • DLori27

That is the sweetest note anyone has written me. Male doctors love to shame women. We know our bodies best but I can’t stand that look that some doctors give you as you’re trying to explain what’s bothering you to them. Last week, I went to a doctor and as I was discussing my pain, he just stared at me smirking. I called him out on it and he said he was just listening not smirking but although I might be physically ill, I’m not crazy. There comes a point when one just feels like giving up but your note truly empowered me. G-D Bless You and I will pray for you every day that you stay healthy and never have to hear the word cancer again. Love, Diane

    • Angelcat47

Don’t give up… I so agree. Continue to go to doctors until you find one who will listen. For me,my best supporter was my family doctor. I had a condition as well that took years to diagnose and because of it, I’ve been disabled since the age of 40. I’m not bitter….still so grateful to be here at 54. This would never happen to a man!! Stand up for yourself and believe in yourself until you find a doctor that does as well. God Bless, Honey.

  • carogonza

I have not seen my sister in 2 years and she is my bestie. I would definitely take her so we could have a little R&R.

  • Debra Atlas

It has been my dream for more than 40 years to visit Italy, particularly Rome. Circumstances always prevented me from doing so. I’ve loved all things Italian for as long as I can remember and even studied the language, which is beautiful. I’ve never had the funds to see this beautiful country and it would mean so much to me to finally be able to walk the streets and finally see the magnificent Coliseum and the Statue of Moses by Michelangelo, as well as the other special tours. It would mean so much to me to finally be able to breathe the air in Italy!

  • Msladj

I would love to surprise my son with this trip, and use it as a bonding experience. I would love to travel again, I miss it. I love, love, truly love museums. The museum was a place that I could take my son for very little or no money, and to be able to do this on this level would be awesome. He takes very good care of me, and is an awesome son.

  • Barb Carlson

  • Sarah Baldwin

My husband and went to Rome 30 years ago when we were college students, the summer before we got married. That was my first and only trip to Rome. After facing many challenges during our 30 year marriage, and coming very close to divorce, we have worked hard through the challenges, determined to save our marriage which, I’m happy to say, is now better than ever. This June will be our 30th wedding anniversary and we decided to renew our vows this summer and recommit to each other “till death do us part.” I can’t think of anything more romantic and meaningful than to renew our vows in the city where we began our romance 30 years ago. Oh, and did I mention that we’ve both been studying Italian? Retiring in Rome has been our dream!

  • Valerie Clark

I would love to win this trip. I just turned 50 in February and haven’t been on a vacation in over 20 years. I have had a lot of change in my life over the last two years, my husband passed away very unexpectedly at 47, I sold my home and moved to another state with just my dogs looking for a fresh start. I literally just moved again in January to a new city for a new job and things have been very chaotic but I am adjusting. I would love to take my best friend since the third grade with me, she turned 50 in January and lost her Mom a few days before her birthday. We both could use a vacation where we could get away, spend some time together and enjoy exploring new lands and making some great memories together that we can share with all our other girlfriends who are also turning 50 this year. I sure could use a little bit of good in my life right now and this trip would mean the world to me.

Recently, we have finally made progress, and convinced them to give us a chance. I would like to use this trip to make her happy, and also show her parents that I can make her happy.

I helped him get through nursing school by working full time and taking care of everything and now he’s helping me get through my schooling; With the time we help each other we don’t have any extra to save up for a vacation or even celebrate for our anniversaries. I’d love to win this getaway for the both of us to surprise him with a present for graduating and our anniversary this year. hehe Is it my gift or his? Really, I think he would love to visit Rome as much as I do and it would be so much fun to be able to actually go on a vacation/break for once. Especially if we could celebrate for our 4 year anniversary!

I would love to take my husband who is helping me with changes in my body by always saying don’t worry about, cuz we’re in this together, for better or for worse. I love that man! 24 years and counting…

  • Angel Buffalino

I would share this with my cousin. She speaks Italian fluently and we always travel together. We could find our family roots and history. It would be a trip of a lifetime for us. She is a cancer survivor and this would be so special for us to go to together

I would take my mother. During the 8 years I lived in Europe she was unable to visit me and has never been outside the USA with the exception of a visit to Niagara Falls with me. She has always wanted to visit Italy and I would be able to help her fulfill this dream through this contest while she is still healthy enough to go.

I was fortunate enough to visit Rome as an 11 year old. I never forgot the food, the scenery, the culture, the warmth of the people, and I have forever wanted to return. I would love to go with my husband, since we never had a real honeymoon. This would be perfect.

  • SUSAN MILLER

  • kgritts

I would take my wonderful husband of 22 years. We’ve been through a lot in those years and have never been to Italy. We are hosting his 97 year old mother in our home and it would be a wonderful break for us to travel for a few days and let our children take care of mom for awhile.

Italy has been on my bucket list for a long time. I have permanent nerve damage and 2 protruding large discs previously herniated and a bone fragment that broke off a vertebrae that were caused from an injury 7 years ago and my traveling days in the future are fast becoming extremely limited as I remain under Dr care. I have travelled to Paris, New Zealand, Punta Cana, Florida, Las Vegas & most recently Hawaii for the month of February 2016 because there will come a point, I can no longer sit for the length of a long plane ride because of these injuries. I would share this adventure with a loved one who has passport in hand, understands my limitations and wants to go as badly as I do. Under a Tuscan Sun is one of my favorite movies and I could relate to it at one point in my life as my ex fiance ran off with his secretary and left me to start over so I moved to Illinois instead of Tuscany. I was also a Fine Art major in college so to be able to see the work of Michelangelo would take my breathe away. This trip sounds amazing and thank you so much for offering the possibility to make a dream come true!

  • Christina Daniels

I’ve never been to Rome…I would take my wonderful husband. He thinks I’m beautiful – no matter how I look, and he just let’s me be me and loves me for who I am.

  • Stephanie V.

As Catholics, it has always been a dream of my mother and I to visit Rome. Mi madre is slowing down at almost 70 and has never been to Europe. What an amazing blessing it would be to take her on a mother/daughter trip to a spiritual place we’ve never been.

  • Irina

I would like to take my husband to celebrate our 25 wedding anniversary!

  • Becca Z

I would take my husband, we have been wanting to visit Italy for a long time and I really like how I don’t have to do all the research and planning for this particular trip!

  • DLori27

I would love to win this trip because I’ve been ill for years and will be undergoing serious surgery in the very near future. None of us now how long we have left on earth but when serious illness faces a fairly young person and threatens to end their life, it makes it that much more important to try to do all the things one always wanted to do but never did, thinking they had all the time in the world left. My mom will be 84 next week and I love her so much. I’ve never had the chance to give her all the wonderful things she deserves because of my health. To have this time to take a trip to Europe together, a place I’ve always wanted to go and to spend what may be the last days of our lives together, that would give me the chance to tell and express to her how much I love and appreciate all the wonderful things she’s done for me throughout my life. I wish everyone the best of luck. I completed the above requirements and shared contest on my twitter page, @DianeLori, Facebook page, kleimanlaw, Pinterest page, dlori27 and google page, Diane Kleiman

I would love to take a trip to Rome. It’s going to be my our 20th wedding anniversary this year and what a great way this would be to celebrate. Neither of us have ever been out of the country so this would be a wonderful experience for the both of us. My husband has never been on a plane ride in his life and has always wanted to travel but we never could financially. I would of course take my loving husband with me on this trip.
