{Tested} Somme Institute 5-Step Regimen

——————————————————————————————————————————————

Somme Institute’s 5-Step Regimen—a cleanser, exfoliant, moisturizer, serum and sunscreen–comes with a hefty price tag ($298), but according to reps at Somme, it “transforms the skin…improving its tone, texture and clarity while reducing the signs of aging.” All five products contain MDT5, a patented compound which Somme claims will help the active ingredients penetrate the skin 3-4 millimeters deep, much deeper than other products on the market.

Seven FOFs put Somme products to the test. Read on to find out: was it was high fives for this five-step regimen? Or did it leave our testers hanging?

CHRISTINE WILLIAMSON – Girard, PA

Were these products easy to use?
Five steps – it couldn’t have been easier.

Did you see a difference in your skin? Fine lines and wrinkles? Dryness? Skin tone?
My skin was smoother and firmer, wrinkles less noticeable. The products worked so well together.

{Click here to read all the reviews!}

Would you continue using these products?
Yes and I’d add the Somme eye and neck treatments! The day defense lotion was heavy, I would have preferred something a little lighter for day. [It actually] worked well for me as a body or night treatment. The travel kit was excellent.

Would you recommend these products to other FOFs?
Yes.

Everything else: 5

CHRISTINE NEWTON – Santa Rosa, CA

Were these products easy to use?
Very easy.

Did you see a difference in your skin? Fine lines and wrinkles? Dryness? Skin tone?
My lines didn’t go away, but appeared softer.

How did these products compare to the products you normally use?
The line is much nicer than my normal skincare products.

Would you continue using these products?
I would continue using this skin care line, but the cost is an issue [too high].

Would you recommend these products to other FOFs?
Yes.

——————————————————————————————————————————————

SUZANNE MEDICI – Troy, Michigan

Were these products easy to use?
Once I put them in order, [the regimen] was easy enough to follow.

Did you see a difference in your skin? Fine lines and wrinkles? Dryness? Skin tone?
My skin seemed to become even more dehydrated and I can’t blame it on the weather (the Michigan winter was mild this year.) The areas that are of a concern to me (around my mouth), seemed to become even more of a concern when using these products. No difference [in fine lines and wrinkles] that I could see. I felt as if these products were geared more towards a combination-oily skin.

How did these products compare to the products you normally use?
My usual skin care routine was working, but I always felt it could be improved. My favorite Somme product was the cleanser, though it reminded me of Cetaphil. I did not like using an SPF moisturizer on my face at night.

Would you continue using these products?
No! I was committed to see if they would work, but after 5 weeks and not seeing anything positive happening, I called it quits.

Would you recommend these products to other FOFs?
No. Well, only if you have combination-oily skin.

Please rate this product from 1 (Ugh. This was the worst) to 5 (Loved it!):

——————————————————————————————————————————————

KAREN HANSHAW – Tucson, Arizona

Were these products easy to use?
Yes, extremely easy.

Did you see a difference in your skin? Fine lines and wrinkles? Dryness? Skin tone?
Yes, fine lines and wrinkles are reduced and flakiness is gone. My skin tone is noticeably brighter and [my face is] fresh looking. [The products are] surprisingly gentle. I am particularly impressed with the lightening of redness on my neck and brown splotches on my face, jaw line and chest. I also used some on a red, scaly spot I’ve had for years on my forearm. Not even prescription steroid creams from my dermatologist helped as much as Somme’s regimen.

How did these products compare to the products you normally use?
It’s similar to what I was doing (only one more step than usual at night), and definitely much more effective.

Would you continue using these products?
Yes, but I won’t be able to continue right now because of the cost.

Would you recommend these products to other FOFs?
Yes, absolutely.

Please rate this product from 1 (Ugh. This was the worst) to 5 (Loved it!):

——————————————————————————————————————————————

CECILIA PRADO – Arroyo Grande, CA

Were these products easy to use?
Yes, easy and quick, even though there are five products. I appreciate the minimalist packaging.  I also like that the pump caps lock open or closed and that the serum bottle has a cap. I did not like the A-Bomb’s screw top container that I have to dip my fingers or a spatula into. I’d prefer a more sanitary tube or pump dispenser.

Did you see a difference in your skin? Fine lines and wrinkles? Dryness? Skin tone?
I did not notice any particular improvement. My skin actually felt slightly oilier than normal, even after the 2-week adjustment period.

How did these products compare to the products you normally use?
I don’t feel that Somme’s product can replace what I normally use, Vivite by Allergan. Vivite helps my skin feel balanced, toned and smooth. Somme’s products made my skin feel oily.

Would you continue using these products? Why or why not?
No, I will go back to using Vivite. I liked the convenience of the transport pads, and the serum felt very good on my skin, however, overall I do not feel there was any noticeable improvement.

Anything else?
The cleanser was my least favorite product. It felt greasy on my skin, I didn’t like the scent and never felt like my face was thoroughly clean. I thought the serum was great but the A-bomb felt heavy for daytime. Somme’s regimen did not include eye cream, which I feel should be part of any ‘core system.’

Would you recommend these products to other FOFs?
Yes, to other FOFs that suffer from extremely dry skin.

Please rate this product from 1 (Ugh. This was the worst) to 5 (Loved it!):

PAMELA HOWELL – Midland, TX

Were these products easy to use?
Yes, but I did have to put the chart on my mirror to help me remember the sequence of use.

Did you see a difference in your skin? Fine lines and wrinkles? Dryness? Skin tone?
The system certainly did cleanse my skin well. My décolletage was smoother and more even-toned. I noticed a clearer, brighter complexion but no significant difference in wrinkles and lines.

How did these products compare to the products you normally use?
This required more involvement without significant results.

Would you continue using these products? Why or why not?
No, the cost [is too high] and [there are] too many steps involved.

Would you recommend these products to other FOFs?
No.

Please rate this product from 1 (Ugh. This was the worst) to 5 (Loved it!):

DENISE EVANS – Morristown, NJ

Were these products easy to use?
Yes–I loved the color coded labels.

Did you see a difference in your skin? Fine lines and wrinkles? Dryness? Skin tone?
It felt hydrated and my favorite product was the daily moisturizer with the SPF.

How did these products compare to the products you normally use?
I’ve been using products containing Retin-A for years and am a huge fan. I stopped just to try the Somme line. I did not see an improvement so I have returned to using my original skincare line.

Would you continue using these products? Why or why not?
I would definitely continue using the cleanser and daily moisturizer.

Would you recommend these products to other FOFs?
Yes–it was effective but not necessarily better than what I was using. For someone who could not tolerate Retin-A, this line would be perfect.

Please rate this product from 1 (Ugh. This was the worst) to 5 (Loved it!):

{Test This} Ahava Extreme Night Treatment

——————————————————————————————————————————————

One company, Ahava, is taking beauty sleep to a whole new level. Their Extreme Night Treatment (retail value: $72 for 1 oz.), works on your lines and wrinkles at night, so that by the time you wake up, you’ll have “a softer, smoother, radiant complexion,” according to the company.

The concentrate is made of natural ingredients from the Himalayas, one of the highest altitudes on Earth, where plants, moss and minerals are resilient to the harsh climate and conditions. Ingredients are also sourced from the Dead Sea, the lowest altitude on the Earth and “the legendary, personal spa of Cleopatra,” where the water, mud, minerals and plants have “proven regenerative properties,” according to Ahava.

Is this “extreme” night treatment–extremely effective?

{Test This} TRIA Hair Removal Laser

.

——————————————————————————————————————————————

Laser hair removal has been performed for years in doctor’s offices, but comes with a hefty price tag–the average session costs $429 and impacts only one treatment area, according to WebMD. If you have thicker, darker hair or want to zap, say, more than just your underarms–prepare to shell out a whole lot more cash.

Now, one company, Tria, promises the same results for a fraction of the price. Their laser for hair removal (retail value: $395), can be used at home on the legs, arms, underarms, back, stomach and bikini line.

Just glide it along your problem area once every two weeks. “You can expect up to a 70% reduction in hair growth after your second use” and “after six months…hair follicles will be deactivated” resulting in “permanent freedom from shaving and waxing,” the company says.

So, throw away your razors, tell your esthetician “goodbye” and…wait, wait not just yet! We want to know if this device actually delivers. 3 FOFs will put the Tria Hair Removal Laser to the test.

Find out more about Tria’s Hair Removal Laser, and then leave a comment below for a chance to test it.

{Tested} Josie Maran Argan Balm

.

.
——————————————————————————————————————————————

Argan oil, produced from the kernels of the Moroccan argan tree, has been called “liquid gold” for its healing, conditioning and anti-aging properties. “There are few-to-no formal studies proving a measurable effect of argan oil on skin health,” says Dr. Jessica Krant, a NYC-based dermatologist. So, we decided to conduct our own “study.” Seven FOFs put Josie Maran’s Argan Balm (retail value: $42) to the test.  The balm is made of shea butter infused with Argan oil and “leaves the skin softer and more supple” according to the company.

Is this balm–a bomb or a blessing? Read on to see what our testers thought.

——————————————————————————————————————————————

WILMA LONGMAN – Brush Prairie, WA

Was this product easy to use?
Very easy. It’s temperature-sensitive: when cold, it’s a wax-like consistency, when warm, it’s buttery and soft. It melts deliciously into the skin as soon as it’s applied.

Did you see a difference in your skin? Was your skin softer and less dry?
Yes. I was especially impressed with the difference the balm made on my cuticles. As a pharmacist, I wash my hands many times a day, and my cuticles were a mess. When I applied the balm before work, it protected my hands all day.

{click here to read all the reviews!}

Did it provide relief for your distressed skin?
Yes–it seems to have healing properties. I had a couple small cuts on my hands during the testing time, and the balm seemed to help them heal more quickly.

Is it important to you that this product is made with all natural ingredients and no harsh toxins?
Yes. Chemicals in products can be absorbed through the skin.

Would you continue using this product? Why or why not?
When it is empty, I am definitely going to buy another tin of Argan Balm. It is worth the $42 price tag.

Would you recommend this product to other FOFs?
Yes, absolutely! I even caught my FOF husband sneaking some balm for his rough hands.

RHONDA BYER – Los Angeles, CA

Was this product easy to use?
No. It was waxy and in a tub [which made it] hard to get out. I had to keep rubbing my finger in it.

Did you see a difference in your skin? Was your skin softer and less dry?
It worked well on my lips and elbows. I haven’t noticed a change in other parts of my body yet.

Did it provide relief for your distressed skin?
Yes.

Is it important to you that this product is made with all natural ingredients and no harsh toxins?
Yes.

Would you continue using this product? Why or why not?
No. The consistency makes it too difficult to get out of the tub. I prefer a creamier substance for body care and moisture.

Would you recommend this product to other FOFs?
No.

Was this product easy to use?
Very easy.

Did you see a difference in your skin? Was your skin softer and less dry?
Skin is softer. It works especially well on my lips.

Did it provide relief for your distressed skin?
It worked well on my skin, but not my face. It was too greasy.

Is it important to you that this product is made with all natural ingredients and no harsh toxins?
Very important. Our bodies absorb what we put on our skin.

Would you continue using this product? Why or why not?
I wouldn’t go out and buy it. Vaseline would do the same thing.

Would you recommend this product to other FOFs?
Not for the price.

MICHELE DOMKE – Sunnyvale, CA

Was this product easy to use?
I didn’t care for the packaging–it was too large. Also it didn’t really transfer well from the container to my finger to my [skin and] lips.

Did you see a difference in your skin? Was your skin softer and less dry?
Yes, I used it on my lips and it kept them moist, not chapped.

Did it provide relief for your distressed skin?
Yes and it was very creamy and smooth.

Is it important to you that this product is made with all natural ingredients and no harsh toxins?
Very much so.

Would you continue using this product? Why or why not?
Yes, but I’d use it more regularly if it was easier to get out of the container.

Would you recommend this product to other FOFs?
Yes, it does it’s job.

ANNE KALICH – Lacey, WA

Did you see a difference in your skin? Was your skin softer and less dry?
Yes. This product really improved the texture of my rough elbows and knees. It also helped the eczema I continually fight behind my ears.

Did it provide relief for your distressed skin?
Yes. It’s especially good for knees, elbows and feet. I’d rub it on my feet, put on light cotton socks, go to bed, sleep overnight – magic!

Is it important to you that this product is made with all natural ingredients and no harsh toxins?
Very much so. Although the skin on my face is not sensitive, for some weird reason the skin on my legs is. However, I had no problems with this product. I was able to use it daily without itching or bumps.

Would you continue using this product? Why or why not?
Yes. It worked and a little goes a long way. It didn’t have an annoying fragrance.

Would you recommend this product to other FOFs?
Yes. I’d recommend this product to anyone who has very dry or rough problem areas.

{Makeovers} Mary Jane gets a makeover.

When FOF Mary Jane Andrada won our Carolyn Diamond makeover contest this January, we had no idea how much she deserved it.

——————————————————————————————————————————————

FOF Mary Jane Andrada, of Queens, New York, is a tiny woman (not even 5 feet!) with big responsibilities. She works fulltime as a paralegal for a top intellectual property firm while raising her two children–a daughter, 27, and son, 15–on her own.

“My husband and I met in college,” she says, smiling. “We were together for more than 20 years, but he passed away twelve years ago of a heart attack.” That’s when MaryJane went back to school for her paralegal degree and started a whole new life–at 41.

Mary Jane arrived for her makeover at New York City’s Mizu salon, right on time, beaming from ear to ear. “I can’t wait,” she says, fingering a tiny heart-disease awareness pin on her lapel. “I recently went to my 35th High School reunion, and all my friends made me promise to send photos after the makeover and share all the tips!”

——————————————————————————————————————————————

Step 1: Haircolor
Expert: Karen Freely, colorist at Mizu salon, and dead ringer for actress Heather Graham

Karen’s critique: “Mary Jane is covering her gray with a harsh, at-home dye containing red undertones that are bringing out too much pink in her skin.”

Karen’s Fix:

A demi-permanent Gloss from Redken that matches Mary Jane’s natural, deep brown color. “Demi-permanent will fade out slowly over 2-3 months so you won’t get a harsh line of difference,” says Karen.

——————————————————————————————————————————————

Step 2: Haircut
Expert: Ray Symons, master stylist at Mizu salon. (Follow his Twitter!)

Ray’s Critique: “Mary Jane has lovely hair, but the layers and length are not showing off her high cheekbones and square face. She needs a shorter cut–but NOT a bob. That will make her face look too round.”

.

“I don’t know what you did, but it feels like baby hair!”

Ray’s Fix:

(1) “A shorter cut where the front layers are styled away from the face. (2) The key is to blowdry the hair forward and then blow it back to create volume at the roots. Also, use a round brush containing a mix of nylon and natural bristles. The nylon grabs the hair, but the natural bristles smooth the cuticle and add shine.”

——————————————————————————————————————————————

Step 3: Makeup
Expert: FOF Carolyn Diamond, professional makeup artist to the stars and medical aesthetician. Carolyn was named “Best Makeup Artist of the Year” in the Philly Hotlist.

Carolyn’s critique: “Mary Jane has beautiful eyes, but her brows–the most important feature on every woman’s face!–are thin and undefined. Her eyeliner application is making her eyes appear smaller. I’m seeing uneven skin tone and age spots, which can easily be covered. She’s also using pink makeup tones when she should be using apricot and corals to complement her yellow undertones.”

.
Carolyn’s Fix:

1. “First, I’m prepping her face with a toner containing glycolic acid, which breaks down the bonds that hold dead skin cells. I tell all my clients to sit in a hot bath every once in awhile–that sloughs off the dead skin on your neck and chest. It’s the best exfoliant! Mary Jane has slightly oily skin, so I’m using just a little Ultra Benefits cream. I always pat it on my hands first and then on the face, so I don’t apply too much.”

.
.
2. “For FOFs, I always use GloMinerals, a mineral-based foundation and concealer in one. I like it much better than Bare Minerals, which tends to be very unforgiving on FOF skin because it has a lot of mica, a shiny mineral that shows every wrinkle. GloMinerals is finer and more matte. Sort of like the difference between painting a wall in matte or high gloss–high gloss shows everything.” MaryJane’s shade: GloMinerals Golden Dark Pressed Base, $42
.
.
.

3. “For an instant eye lift, first use a yellow-based primer all over the eyelid, then apply color from the crease to the brow bone. Eyeliner should get thicker and higher as you move from the inner to the outer eye. Use very little liner on the bottom lid!”

.
..

.
4. “Eyebrows–so key! I use Nutraluxe Lash MD to make my own lashes and brows thicker and fuller. Then, fill in your brows by tapping on brow powder with a brush. Don’t use pencil and don’t drag the brush across your brow to create a defined line. Just tap, tap, tap!”
..

.

.

5. “Finally, GloMinerals Blush in Papaya and GloMinerals Gloss in Peony are the perfect shades for MaryJane–they add warmth and flatter her skintone.”

.
All products listed here can be purchased directly through Carolyn Diamond’s studio. Call 267-664-7712 to order.
——————————————————————————————————————————————

“I am transformed!” says Mary Jane when she sees her complete look for the first time. “I feel youthful and more confident. And this color, cut and makeup are effortless–I can do these myself. The whole experience has inspired me to want to take better care of myself.”

JANE HARDIN – Millis, MA

Was this product easy to use?
Very easy. It goes on like silk.

Did you see a difference in your skin? Was your skin softer and less dry?
My skin seems smoother. I [also] tried it on my back where I recently had some moles removed, leaving a few light scars. The cream seemed to speed up the process a bit. I also tried it on my upper thighs where the skin is often dry and it seemed to help.

How did it compare to your normal moisturizer?
It definitely is richer than my previous moisturizer.

Would you continue using this product? Why or why not?
I would probably reserve it for the colder months and use a lighter one in the spring and summer. It “feels” expensive, so price might be my only reservation.

Would you recommend this product to other FOFs?
Yes, but would advise anyone with oily skin to be aware [that it’s rich].

{Test This} Kate Somerville DermalQuench Liquid Lift

—————————————————————————————————

FOF Kate Somerville is the founder of a beloved “medi-skin clinic” in Los Angeles, where estheticians and nurse practitioners help celebs such as Debra Messing and Annette Benning treat their skin woes with everything from facials to lasers. Kate has been dubbed “Hollywood’s Secret Weapon,” by the LA press, and her eponymous collection of skincare products and supplements has a cult following among the LaLa Land elite.

One such product is her just-released DermalQuench Liquid Lift (retail value: $95), made from a patent-pending formula including three key ingredients: PFC-Oxygen Carriers, which “increase volume and create a plumping effect” on the skin, Hyaluronic Acid, which provides hydration, and “rare botanical extracts” to increase overall radiance, according to the company. The product “aggressively combats the visible signs of aging: wrinkles, sagging skin, uneven tone, and dryness.”

Is this liquid lift–a downer? Or is it as effective as its manufacturers promise?

This year, we’re partnering with the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), a not-for-profit authority on plastic surgery and plastic surgeons–and an organization we trust–to bring you the very best information on this topic.

This week, we interviewed Dr. Malcolm Roth, Chief of Plastic Surgery at Albany Medical Center, and the president of ASPS, who explains exactly how to find the right doctor, and why it can be confusing. “It’s vital for every FOF to do her homework before she chooses a doctor or a procedure,” says Dr. Roth. Our advice: If you’re considering any cosmetic procedure (including injections, lasers or even hair removal) read this first.

FOF: Why is it so confusing when it comes to choosing a qualified plastic or cosmetic surgeon?
Dr. Roth: In this country, any physician can legally call himself a plastic surgeon, even though he may not be board certified in plastic surgery. In most states, he can even advertise that he’s board certified and a cosmetic or plastic surgeon (though he may not be board certified in plastic surgery). So your gynecologist or family doctor can decide, “I think I’ll do facelifts today,” or “I think I’ll do liposuction.” As long as you have an office where you can perform the procedure, you can do what you want to do. There are some exceptions to this rule in a handful of states, but generally speaking, all you need is a facility and a medical license to perform surgery.

Wow. Why would a doctor who is not trained in plastic surgery decide to do it?
It’s difficult surviving in the world today as a physician. Insurance companies are decreasing their payments for procedures and making it more difficult to get paid. It’s easier to say, ‘Why not just do plastic surgery? My patients will pay me cash up front, and it looks easy.’ A cosmetic procedure can sound simple, but, even something like liposuction, in the wrong hands, is very dangerous. We’re hearing more and more about serious problems, and all ASPS members are seeing unhappy patients who need reconstruction, or are even beyond the point of reconstruction, due to surgery performed by unqualified physicians.

What is ASPS and how are its doctors qualified?
We are the largest plastic surgery specialty organization in the world. Our 7,000 cosmetic and reconstructive plastic surgeons are board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. That means they have completed 6 years of surgical training with at least three of those years specifically devoted to plastic surgery. To qualify for ASPS, you must operate only in accredited medical facilities, adhere to a strict code of ethics and fulfill continuing medical education requirements to stay up to date, especially on patient safety. We are a non-profit, and our mission is to advance quality and, most importantly, safety, in plastic surgery.

Why is this important to FOFs?
You know the old expression, if the only tool you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail? Our surgeons have all the tools in the tool chest. If you’re a family doctor who has taken a weekend course in injectables, you’re going to recommend injectables to your patients, even if there are better options. Our members understand all the options, appropriate facial aesthetics, and most importantly, safety. They know what to do when something goes wrong.

For our society and our members, this isn’t a turf war. This is about trying to make sure patients understand that they have a choice and a responsibility to do their homework.

Okay, so how does an FOF do her “homework?”  How do you choose a doctor who is skilled, safe and has the maximum amount of training?

Here are the key questions every woman should ask a plastic surgeon she is considering:

    • Are you board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery? Are you a member of ASPS? What is your training in the field of plastic surgery? A certificate on the wall that says a doctor completed a weekend course to learn how to do lipo is not sufficient training.

.

    • Do you have hospital privileges? That means that a hospital has granted that doctor the right to do a specific surgery in its facility. The hospital credentialing committees look at the doctor’s training, and, if they don’t feel that person meets the standard held by that institution, they won’t allow him to do surgery there. If the doctor says yes, ask, which hospitals? And check with the hospital to make sure.

.

    • Is your surgery facility accredited by a national or state accrediting agency? Or is it state licensed? If the doctor performs surgery in his or her office, you want to make sure that facility has all the bells and whistles for the rare occasion when something does go wrong. For example, don’t you want to know that there’s a crash cart with all the medication, and all the monitoring devices that can anticipate and prevent something going awry?

.

    • How many of these procedures have you performed?

.

    • Am I good candidate for this procedure? What other options are there? Your doctor should be able to help you make a decision based on your budget, your comfort with doing something invasive versus noninvasive, and your anatomical needs. A qualified plastic surgeon has the training to talk to you and perform ALL of those things.

.

    • What happens if I have complications?  How long a recovery period can I expect and how will you help me through that?  Who covers your practice if you’re not around?

.

    • What happens if I’m not satisfied with the outcome of my surgery? Will I have to pay for it?

.

    • Do you have before-and-after pictures that I can look through? I suggest this question with the following caution: Today, doctors can use Photoshop and other tools to make their before and after pictures look very different. And I can tell you of instances where I’ve been made aware of people putting images on their website that were not even their own. So don’t let it be your sole determining factor.

.

  • Can I talk to another one of your patients who has experienced this procedure?

For facelifts, lipo and other surgical procedures, it makes sense to use a plastic surgeon. But what about injectables? Is it okay to go to a dermatologist for that?
Fillers and neurotoxins and other minimally invasive procedures are within the scope of dermatologist training, and it’s certainly reasonable to go to a dermatologist for those things. However, remember that dermatologists are not trained to do the surgical procedures that our members are trained to do. So if your dermatologist offers you filler, that’s probably fine. If, on the other hand, they suggest, “Well, how about I do a facelift?” that’s not in the scope of their training and a better option would be for you to consider an ASPS member surgeon.

Also, a plastic surgeon is going to know every nook and cranny of the face–where the nerves are, and what the ramifications are if you injure a nerve you’re not supposed to. An ASPS member will know how to minimize the risk of injury to vital structures. Injectables aren’t just a “skin procedure,” and it’s valuable to have somebody who has full understanding of the underlying anatomy.

What is the ultimate “red flag” that should send you running from a doctor’s office?
If they’re not trained in plastic surgery, you’ve got to be crazy. Run away. And if they are trained, but you don’t feel like you and the surgeon are connecting…that’s not a good sign.  Find someone else. There’s no rush–this is your life you’re talking about.

Did anyone comment on the appearance of your hair?
No.

Would you continue using these products? Why or why not?
Yes. I can’t wait to continue using it. I really feel like it is healing my hair from the inside out. The shampoo is worth their cost because I only use a dime-size squirt of the shampoo [each time] and it is all organic. I used the scented oil mixture [Complexe5] for about five minutes, once a week before I shampoo. I only use enough on scalp to cover and no more. It has an aromatherapy-like scent. I used the RF80 vials once a week and they really made a difference in the way my hair felt–it is softer, fuller and just looks healthier.

Would you recommend these products to other FOFs?
Yes, definitely.
