I am job searching after 30 years working for Fed. Gov. I am 57, divorced, live alone I do not have a degree and my pension due to economy will not be enough. I went thru divorce after many years, exhausted my savings trying to make it. Hard to compete with younger generation any advice?

    Hi there,
It sounds like you may be feeling –understandably, but unnecessarily– very boxed-in regarding your options. I suspect you may be overlooking a goldmine of opportunity, but are frustrated about where to look for it! You have decades of experience and probably more marketable skills than you realize. If we were working together, I would get very curious about what YOU are about, what you love and value, and all of the areas in this big world where you have NOT yet looked and where those values could be put to great use. If you are like most of us humans, there may be a key fear or two that unnecessarily block you from stepping into a really thrilling and satisfying direction.

I say you’re at a new stage in your life where you get to reinvent yourself…and on your terms! YAY! How awesome is that? I’d first make a list of all the things that you love to do and give you inspiration and energy…then make a list of all the things that drain your energy. Then see if you can offer anything that you love to do by way of product or service to the public…either on your own or for a company. Stay on the path of pleasure and joy….and the money will come

What are your hobbies and things your are passionate about? Why not look at turning them into a business that you can use to supplement your pension or depending on the product and amount of work you want to put into it, to replace your pension. Have a think about your life and what you have achieved and find a way to share your experience to help others. Not only will you be financially better off but also emotionally settled when doing something you love.
