I reached out in November to an old friend with whom I had a monumental falling out over 12 years ago. I would have sworn I’d never lay eyes on her again, or exchange a single word, but when I read this in her blog. I immediately sent her an email that simply said: “Hello, Tish, I am truly sorry that you are going through a hard time now.”
When I didn’t hear back from her for over a month I thought “oh well, I guess I’m dead and buried to her” and forgot about my email. Then this email arrived from Tish before Christmas:
“Thank you so much. I have been locked out of this email address for almost a month and just found your kind message. Life is hell right now. We shall see what the future holds.I hope all is well in all ways in your world.
“Warmest regards,
Tish”
I responded the next day:
“Thank you, Tish. My thoughts are with you and Alex.”
I emailed Tish again, about a week ago:
“I continue to think about you and Alex and pray for him.
“I am deeply sorry for the way I acted to you years ago. I had my own demons that have at last been set free, so
I can live my life with a greater clarity, greater understanding of others, and greater inner peace for myself
(although not always 🙂 )
“Please know that you will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. If you ever need someone to just listen, I am all ears.
Fondly,
