FOF Jamie James is giving away her brilliant Cellfolio cell phone case from the Jamie James Collection. It doubles as a wallet AND keychain. Enter to win by answering in the comments below: How old were you when you got your first cell phone?
“My life requires me to be organized,” says FOF Jamie James, a divorce attorney and mother of four in Andover, Massachusetts. Yet Jamie admits that on occasions she’s misplaced her bar license and had trouble getting into court. “I’d stash my license and debit card in my pants pocket for easy access, but I’d forget to take them out when I got home at night.”
In 2010, Jamie noticed her daughter, Caitlyn, a junior at Princeton, carrying her credit cards in a plastic cell phone case, behind her Blackberry. “I started to do the same, but I was used to carrying leather Tory Burch and Kate Spade bags–this plastic jelly case didn’t really fit my style,” says Jamie. A friend suggested that Jamie design something more her taste.
“I had a big wish list,” says Jamie. “I wanted this case to hold cards, be made from high-quality Italian leather, be manufactured in the U.S. and fit a variety of phone sizes so you wouldn’t have to throw it away if you upgraded.”
Nine months later, in July of 2011, the Cellfolio was born. “It was truly like a birth,” says Jamie. “It was hard to get all the components to come together.”
The hard work paid off. In less than a year she’s sold 7,000 “Cellfolios,” hybrid wallet and cell phone cases that come in five different styles and over a dozen colors. Each Cellfolio holds three cards, and some styles have an exterior photo ID window. It fits any size smart phone.
Jamie sells the Cellfolio exclusively through her website and at speciality shows around the U.S. “I think people are looking to minimize now more than ever, and I was ahead of the curve on that,” says Jamie. “I only carry my Cellfolio now. It has really simplified my life.”

I was about 40 or 41. It was 1990 and I don’t think it was called a “cell” phone. It was housed in a bag that looked like a lady’s shoulderbag and it was heavy. I don’t remember the manufacturer or the name of the phone company. As years passed, phones got smaller and lighter and a great deal more sophisticated. My daughter got me a “smart” phone with a touch screen and I am feeling my age just trying to use the thing!

My first cell phone was assigned to me by my employer when I was in my 30s. At first I thought that it was really cool. Then I came to see it an a tether, attaching me to my employer at all times. Jenbispo says:
In 1993, I bought a new Honda Accord – I was thrilled! I was traveling around Southern Cal for my job, and decided to get a car phone – you know the kind – hard wired into the car, with the antenna and all. I felt like I was on top of the world. But I kept forgetting to dial area codes!

My husband had no idea where I was so was pacing when I got home trying to think of the places I go to run errands. I finally got a phone with a qwerty keyboard last week….if I got one of these cool holders I’d be ahead of the crowd for once!
WLONGMAN says:

I have always wanted to use a cell phone like my friends but because I became Deaf at the age of 12, I could never use one. Then in 2004 I received a cochlear implant which, after many years of training, enabled me to hear on a landline phone. Finally, about 4 years ago, I developed enough confidence to purchase and try out a cell phone. I am proud to say, after much practice, I can now hear and use a cell phone just like my friends!

I have to say that I am not even sure what year, but I do remember that my first cell phone was one of the first ones NOT mounted in the car . It was about 22 years ago; I had three very young children and was on the go with one thing and another. I got my first cell phone about three year ago. It is a discard from one of my daughters. Nothing wrong with it, she just wanted something better. So I took it for emergencies only or a where are you mom call. I have never texted so being a fancy phone was not important for me, so an old hand-me-down is perfect!!

I would most definitely have to give this to my daughter; hot pink is her color! Very cute, but I wouldn’t use it myself. A great gift though!
mndpreston says:

I was very resistant to cell phones. What can I say? I’ve always been a bit of a rebel. We got our cell phone two years ago – and it was an inherited phone from my brother-in-law! We still have that same phone (I share with my husband), although I carry. I don’t believe in supporting companies that charge ridiculous amounts of money for a product or service that actually costs them a tiny fraction of that charge.
debrajwebb says:
My first cell phone I purchased around 2000 it was bigger and heavier than new, modern cell phones. I purchased it at radio shack!

I’m pretty sure it was around 1993 when I got my first cell phone – I still remember making my first cell phone call! Suzy Reschke says:
I got my first cell phone in 1994 as a gift from my husband. It was one of the big heavy ones about a foot long. I never hardly used it. I didn’t want my husband to get charged for me using it since he was paying the bill.

I was 44 when I got my first cell phone, and now don’t go ANYWHERE without it. I send on average 5000 texts each month, compared to my 16 yo who might send 800. I stay more closely connected to friends all over the country since I have a cell phone. This case might convince me to get rid of my purse, at least some days.

They look terrific. I got my first cell phone when I was 45. Kind of late in the game but now I can’t live without it.

I was 39, right after the birth of my 2nd son, and needed to be able to access my babysister, doctor, etc. I don’t know how I did without a cell phone prior to that.

Not absolutely sure, but believe it was in my mid 30’s.

What a super product! Great looking and uber-functional too. My first cell phone was for work and we were supposed to wear them on waist holders. It was enormous and didn’t fit a woman’s body shape – hey, guys, my waist curves IN. 🙂 It’s been about 18 years since then and thank goodness for cute, thin, way-more-useful, present phones!
Lyn McCormick says:
Those look fabulous! I got my first cell phone over 20 years ago. It was about the size of a shoe! It lived in my car, just for emergencies, and I didn’t even know the number, so no one could call me. Some days, that sounds pretty good…
