I keep a photo of my mother in my wallet. I lost my mother in 2004 unexpected at the age of 73. She was in the Korean War for 2 years, born in the depression, was a young widow, raised two children on her own. She never asks for anything special in her life she just wanted the love of her family. She was my best friend, support, mentor, confidante, advisor, teacher, motivator, someone whom I admired respected, learned from by example how she always cared about others and expected nothing in return, looked up to and aspired to be like. She was never famous, never got to even go past the 11th grade in high school because she had to go to work during the depression to help her mother. I told her as she was
dying if I could sing a song to her that would never end I would, if I could give her the world I would, if I could just have one more day with her I would. I carry her in my wallet but also in my heart, soul and spirit. That is the photo etched in my memory.
I wanted to pay tribute to her an inspiration and an angel always watching over her children, and grand children.

In my wallet is a picture of my “high priced” son, who is now 11. I call him that because I have scoliosis and up until my pregnancy, I did fine with a harrington rod as my back support. Well, when I was pregnant my lordosis collapsed and I waited until he was six for flatback revision surgery. The surgery cost about $300,000 dollars and thankfully I had insurance but I call him my high priced baby! He was worth every bit of all I have been through.
