I lost 150lbs. 8 years ago and have kept it off. However I am now on dialysis and wear the same clothing 3 days a week to keep the weight off the scale when I go in. I love to dress up when I am not on dialysis and need a little help with age appropriate clothing. My husband just passed away 3 weeks ago and I am ready for a new look.

I going to be sixty years old in 2015. I have adjusted to being an older woman and I really love this time of life. I am looking forward to some exciting new opportunities in my life and my work. I realize that I need to learn some new tricks for using make up and clothing in a way that works with my age but doesn’t make me look older. Great stylish clothes look awesome on pretty older women. I find it challenging to balance hip artsy individualism without looking like an old hippie or school teacher. I think more women are dying their hair simply because it’s the only way to stand out in a sea of silver haired beauties! I’m ready to let go of my grey, embrace color, embrace sexy ageism and turn some heads!

Why I want a makeover: I need an update. I think of myself as young and with-it, but I just turned 70 and realise that it is time to look my age and my profession. Its hard not to look too young or worse, too old. I am not a fan of shopping, so having a guide to help me choose a wardrobe would be a god-send. I still have ‘my colors’ from the popular 70s trend, but even that needs updating!

So tired of heavy winter clothes

  • Phyllis Skoglund

Type 3 beauty caught by eye as a naturalist. I prefer greens and clever camo like the black and white skirt.

  • L. J. Smith

Grandmother of three needs some modern updating.

  • Carol

In this year since my husband passed, I returned to the work force. At 59 it seems everyone is younger than me. I had spent the past 10 years as a housewife, then caretaker of ailing family members and then as a student. I was living in jeans and sneakers. On top of that I have gained 50 lbs and am struggling not only to lose the weight but to regain my sense of self. I can’t decide if I am a Type 3 or 4 but this makeover would really help me to look the part for the promotions I am eyeing!

  • I have never truly found my style. I would love some clear direction and be able to set a good example for my girls.

I need this makeover because I have had the same look forever..since my daughter was born, basically, 23 years ago. I had another child who is 14 now then triplets who are now 10, and I have no time to even think of style. I am a jeans and tshirt person..tired of looking like a “kid” in my clothes and would love to look my age.

  • Hello!! I would love to win this makeover, and I think I deserve to splurge on myself for a change!! I’ve gotten so used to the same “outfit” every day, jeans, usually a shirt with a long sleeved shirt over it, and clogs or sneakers. I am in a rut and don’t know how to embrace the way I really want to look, step out of my boring comfort zone, and trust in my own fashion sense. I would also love a new hairdo, but I’ve been too afraid to break out and change that too. Please, help me!

  • p.kopec

    i’m stuck in a rut

  • I am turning 60 in a few days and have begun a new path in life.
I am beginning my own promotional business as well as fully pursuing my acting profession.
While I know I look more youthful than the number usually brings to mind, I feel I need an update and refresh on my fashion sense – I feel like I am in the between age of Forever 21 and Dowager. Since finances are low at the moment, I sometimes feel stuck between the aforementioned fashion gap and at a loss where to find something fashionable and fun for that in between age.
( If I could sew, I would design an affordable line for women in the 45-65 age range who are in shape, energetic and young at heart!)

  • Karen Leraas

I am unsure what “type” I am. I looked in my closet and what …blah…..

After watching the free episodes from Dressing Your Truth, I was so relieved. Finally I know that I am not just sloppy and boring when I wear my comfortable, subtle clothes. I am just dressing my truth! It felt great to hear that. It actually has relieved some stress that I felt over not being like others in different areas also. Now, I need some new clothes to help with my new understanding.

Unfortunately, as I slip into menopause, I’ve gained weight. My closet is full of beautiful clothes I can no longer wear. Someone times I go in there & get teary-eyed. I’d really like to get some nice new clothes to help me feel good at my new weight.

That being said, if I can’t win, I think some of the women here are deserving candidates: MARY TOMKO, SHERRY HARRISON, DEBBIE CHANEY & JOAN MICHAELREE. They’ve had hard times.

  • Dorothea Warren

I retired early because of health issues, which grew in number and severity as Dr’s try to figure out why i can’t walk without excruciating pain. I’ve lost 50 lbs, a small miracle given i can’t exercise, but i have quite a bit more to go. I need something to help me feel connected to the world even though i’m out of it, as well as a reason to
Dress up and wear make-up. I have tons of both that just sit in piles. I just need help.

  • Patricia S. Meisels

I will be 59 on June 7th, and have never truly known what is right for me. I am an empty nester. My style was “mom”, what was right for where ever I was taking my kids. Work, was what was comfortable, going out, jeans were just fine with some kind of top. Now, I basically still wear jeans, tops, a dress on occassion, sneakers, or a pair of flats, boots if it’s cold. I wear jeweled colors, white during the summer. Last year we went to Vegas, my husband told me to go get a few things, I had not worn makeup in years, so I walked into MAC and they had to teach me how to put makeup on. Since Christmas I have not worn it and have again forgotten how to use the product. I need help. There are a lot of women here that could probably use it more then I can, but I ask of you, please pick me. I am lost where fashion, style, color, shoes, makeup and accessories are involved. I am just too young to be this old. Thank you

  • christy r.

I want to win this makeover because I have never won one before. Thanks.

  • tfabglam5

While I love ALL of these beauty types, and feel that my look symbolizes a mixture of all them combined – I am gravitating to the Type 3 Beauty offerings, and do tend to love rich and dynamic clothes, makeup and accessories. Since I have golden-toned skin, these colors and makeup shades will definitely be flattering for me. It would be such an extravagant treat to be able to score this beautiful collection of fashion, makeup and accessories!

  • Wendy Wallach

I love to shop, but find that I end up with a lot of clothes, but have a real challenge putting them all together to make great outfits. I know that if I could learn how to interchange my clothes it would not only save me money, but it would be much less frustrating. I hate saying that I have ” nothing to wear”but it’s because I can’t seem to rework items of clothing into more than one outfit. Help!

  • Patti Kollar

I would consider myself a “Type 1” from the descriptions – that is my usual self. However, right now I need a new “zest for life”. This crazy winter has really got me down, and I am trying so hard to pick myself back up again. A new wardrobe would certainly help with that!
