{What do you think of this look?}

Jojami Tyler and Deborah Boland, of the brilliant fashion blog, Fabulous After 40, tipped us off that this FOF we spotted at NYC Fashion Week was actually a fashion blogger by the name of Susan Tabak. She has 7,000+ Twitter followersher own perfume line and has been named “a sort of perennial presence in fashion,” by The New York Times. She must be doing something right…right? See what our style experts have to say, then you tell us…Is her Fashion Week look haute or does it leave you cold?

Lovey Dash: “Can the fashion police please arrest this woman? The earrings are too much with everything else. The shoes must go immediately. The bag is too bulky for this outfit–a sleeker bag would’ve been a better choice. Now, for the main event–the coat (if that’s even what we can call it) whoever slashed it up had the right idea. If she really must wear it, she should tone everything else down, perhaps by wearing a jumpsuit or monotone stockings, dress and a high boot.”

Lovey Dash is a Beverly Hills-based stylist. She was formerly in VIP sales for Louis Vuitton on Rodeo Drive.

Susan Hersh: “I can appreciate avant-garde fashion and I like women who take a chance by wearing something that sets them apart. However, this cardigan-coat is leaving me very cold. It’s highly impractical for February in NYC, but more importantly, it just looks strange–the coiled rope appears unfinished. I am fine with everything else. Love her shoes!”

Susan Hersh is a Ford model and the host and executive producer of Meet The Experts.

Sandra Soich: I ‘get’ it. Her look is so different than what we’re used to seeing. The only thing that really bothered me was the two-tone colors of the shoe. Otherwise it’s a very special look…refreshing.

Sandra Soich is wardrobe stylist to the stars and founder of YourFashionTherapist.com.

The Glam Gals: Fashion blogger Susan Tabak is known for supporting and wearing up-and-coming fashion designers, which is what Fashion Week is all about. Even though her look is a little bit shocking, Susan sure hit the mark!
While we would never invest in a crazy coat like this, she pulled it off! She looks elegant in this color palette of taupe and black with the simple black scarf and handbag allowing the coat to be the star. Her funky shoes pull the entire look together. Kudos to Susan for rocking this look!

“Glam Gals” Jojami Tyler and Deborah Boland co-write the brilliant fashion blog, Fabulous After 40.

Terry Gibralter: “I think she’s rocking it! Love the amazing rope concept coat. The black and taupe color scheme is sophisticated, and her accessories work well. Also love the ‘of the moment’ leather clutch. Her shoes are super stylish although a bit painful looking. I even like the the hoops and the heavy link bracelet. Her big hair and sunglasses top the look off perfectly. She’s a very cool looking lady!

Terry Gibralter is the Sr. Vice President and Creative Director at Grey advertising as well as a fashion stylist and the creator of these clever work accessories.

Sherrie Mathieson: “This coat is probably ‘art’ to this woman but reminds me of a poodle and looks cumbersome to wear. The layered neutral palette is good, and her great legs are shown off by the high heels and short garment beneath the coat. However, there is not one item in this fussy ensemble that I would want to own.”

Sherrie Mathieson is a leading style expert and Random House author of Steal this Style and Forever Cool.

Glenyse Thompson: “That coat is wearing her, and that’s all I can say….”

Glenyse Thompson is a personal home and wardrobe stylist and the creator of Styleosophy.

Hello my loved one! I want to say that this post is awesome, great written and come with approximately all important infos. I would like to peer more posts like this .

  14. Pamela Lloyd says:

Go lady fashion! I like it and she has the figure to wear it well!

  15. Vorsatti says:

Since when does fashion/style look like something came out of a sausage extruder? If something makes a person frown as I am doing right now…. it’s not working.. yes… you’ll be noticed, and people are not likely to rob you because everyone is looking at you – great visibility trick, but I won’t be standing next to this gal dressed like this… and then there’s the shoes…. really?

  16. Simplychic says:

Oh boy, if “cross dresser” is your look, bingo. The coat is screaming something I am not sure, maybe “sale rack”. The phallic symbol of the style reinforces my cross dresser theory. If you are a wanna be mafia wife, wear this. Maybe throw in some frosty lipstick.

  17. Marcia says:

Yipes! The cardigan/coat looks like sausages strung together. I would change the shoes — the white toes and soles don’t go with anything else in her outfit. Only after I got past the coat and then the shoes was I able to focus on the whole outfit. The shoes and coat just shouted out for attention in and of themselves and took away from her overall look.

  18. Kim says:

I think she looks great in everything, BUT the coat. It does not compliment the rest of her attire. However, if she changed the coat, OR everything else but the coat. The coat looks kind of “boho” to me, definitely not working with her otherwise polished look. Pretty lady!

  19. Ann says:

Ok, if you’re brave enough to wear that coat she was right with all black underneath. Why you’d want to hide your lovely, slim figure is beyond me. It’s not my taste but that’s why there are many clothing designers. I think with a statement piece like that everything else should be SIMPLE! The shoes are too high for a FOF and they look like she’s wearing sweat socks under peeptoes….the earrings and bag are just too much. This is definitely a case where less would be more!

  20. Marla says:

No to the coat! Rest is fine

  21. Dindy904 says:

Trying to be glamorous…but trying too hard..I think she looks much like a pathetic older woman…with money…but, does not understand how to use it to her advantage….that being said..she does look happy and pleased with herself…which IS THE MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL !!

  22. anisemarsh says:

way too much to look at- and too many styles together- wonder how she’d look without the coat (burn it) or the huge earrings? probably fabulous-

  23. Debra S says:

Well, it sure is a run-way “Avant-Garde” haute couture fashion look, isn’t it? LOL EVERY time I look at those fashion shows of the very very famous designers, I laugh.

but, hey I don’t live in that world, do I?

  24. sharon910 says:

  25. pattib says:

    I think it’s a mess!

  26. Susane says:

My first thought was “who robbed the hotdog truck”? There are so many contrasts I don’t know where to look first (or last). With a coat that grabs attention like that she should be focusing on a monochromatic look underneath. The cowl neck is way too heavy and the shoes and earnings are a distraction.

  27. Judy Langdale says:

Don’t know what to look at first – it’s like a movable feast. Why do very attractive women feel like they have to go over the top ? Conservative with alittle accessory flair is always best.

  28. HERBERCJ says:

I ain’t mad at it. You can give me that coat!!

  29. Food Police says:

She could be the Feast of San Gennaro poster lady or a new cast member on the Sopranos. Looks like coat is made from long Italian Sausage links. Take another peek.

  30. Deborah says:

Too much! She looks almost disheveled. The coat is a fashion statement, to be sure, but the rest of the outfit causes an overwhelming look that just looks like its wearing her. Any those shoes! Seriously! can anyone walk anywhere in those?

  31. Allar says:

a very nice free place““ richmatchmaking.c~o~m –is a place where you can meet wealthy, successful men and sexy women. It’s worthy a try. You do not have to be rich or famous. It’s free and always will be.,,now,!!It’s your turn to join in!adfsfghj…..

  32. Mamavalveeta03 says:

WAY too much going on there for my taste!

  33. expertess says:

I seem to always disagree with Lovely Dash. Regardless, this is a great look for a fashion week when we all tend to wear something new and different. The subdued colour story allows for the crazy coat which I hope is by some new designer she has “discovered”. I own the same pair of shoes which I leave in my Paris flat because they work well with either black or beige. The only thing I would change are the earrings and opt for a simple hoop. Go for it!

  34. JeanW says:

This woman can carry a look very well, but the coat needs some attention. If the coat were plain from the waist down or if it were plain from the sides and back with just a row of ropes going down the front, I feel it would look and fit better. Right now the coat looks heavy and bulky from the waist down and does nothing for her even though from the waist up the coat looks fine.

  35. Ali Moss says:

The overall look is too Housewives of New Jersey for me and that coat!! it looks like it would have fleas.

  36. Hawklady says:

I think the coat is just ugly. The shoes look cool but I wouldn’t wear them. The rest is lovely. I applaud her courage. Gotta give her that.

  37. rbwood54 says:

Yuk! Another woman who should buy a full-length mirror to check herelf before she goes out!

  38. djhnkl@aol.com says:

All my life I have loved unusual pieces of clothing and very different colors. I love her entire outfit except for the shoes………I would have chosen something else. She carries it off well! You go, girl!

  39. fwitt07 says:

Beautiful woman, but i’m so distracted with that coat I can’t see anything else!

  40. tarheel4ever says:

I think she looks beautiful and is doing exactly what she want to do: turn heads! 🙂

  41. WLONGMAN says:

If she is heading to a sausage festival the coat is a masterfully punny “play on links”!

  42. Posey Thomson says:

She is such an attractive woman….no need for the earrings or oversized whatever…..vest? Simple is better and much more chic! Personally, I love the shoes. They don’t take over the outfit. Also, she has great legs…show them off while you still can !!!

  43. flowerdiva says:

Waaaay tooo much! She should scale down, there is too much going on and each piece is competing with each other. If she wants the coat to be the focal point then tone down the accessories.

  44. Kel M says:

Color- great. Color combo-great, length – great. Risk-taker – great. Yet it went terribly wrong in that there is too much too look at…way too busy. The coat would look more incredible hanging on the wall as art, than on a body,

  45. Jewel says:

Excuse me for being crude. . . This coat is butt ugly!!!

  46. Faith says:

I certainly havn’t seen this lok in the midwest. Really it sn’t too bad, but the shoes make me feel amxious!

  47. minna says:

I think she does it well and wears the look with confidence. But really, shoes this high-heeled put me off. I look at them and feel pain …

  48. Nidradeb says:

    Cruella DeVille from Jersey?

This look may be avant garde to some, but completely lacks class.

  49. Janice says:

Never ever never if it were a gift or if it was 10,000 would I wear that coat. But then no one asked me. If it makes her happy then rock it! Taupe and black is beautiful.

  50. Mick says:

    One word: “Ew”

  51. mxkh says:

The only thing I found interesting was the coat. Everything from her shoes to her purse and from her earrings to her loud lipstick scream TACKY and CHEAP. I can almost hear her crack her gum. Ha. Fiber art (her coat) calls for a careful eye, minimal accessories (toned down make-up, hair, shoes etc.)

  52. Susan McGraw Keber says:

Is she wearing sausages? Actually makes me laugh…some women will wear anything just to be noticed.

  53. Denise says:

I just looked at some of the past months’ “What do you think of this look” pictures. This one is the best to my eye. Yes, that is one weird coat. But she has styled it brilliantly. I love the tonal muted coloring, letting the ugly coat be the star. A few minor details — I would have removed both of the accessories (bangle and earrings) and replaced the clutch with a smaller, more structured one. Her hair, sunglasses, sleek legs and attitude are her main accessories. If you’re going to wear a really weird piece of fashion, this is the way to do it. Sometimes that one “wrong” piece is what makes an outfit. If she were wearing a proper taupe cashmere coat, would she even have been photographed?

  54. Llisbeth says:

I wouldn’t buy it, but she looks great! I thought the shoes were fun and trendy too.

  55. Carol says:

    Those shoes are uuuuglyyyy!

  56. patatwell says:

    NO! Looks like sausages.

  57. mlh125 says:

is that coat made of padded hangers? that is the ghastliest(sp?) thing I have ever seen on a human!!!!

  58. sharon910 says:

Leave the coat in the store.

  59. Victoria Kuhl says:

It looks to me like she’s carrying around a bunch of padded coat hangers. Maybe she’s a fashion icon but this outfit looks terrible to me. It’s interesting how everyone disagrees about this one.

    • mlh125 says:

padded hangers..exactly!! LOL! I thought it was a joke when I saw the picture….

  60. debrincat says:

I think the look is great. It has a sense of humor and style.

  61. 1955nurse says:

Oooh – what IS that made of?!!?!?! I’m sure she’ll think I’m “out of the loop” Fashion-wise, but that looks like rolls of dryer lint !!!! Why is it that so-called “High Fashion” usually looks like something my Grandma wouldn’t be caught dead in?!?!?!

  62. wufferhund says:

She looks like Cruella DeVille ! Scary!

  63. Susan says:

That “look” may be fine on Rodeo Drive, but I have seen better looking area rugs! I like the two toned shoes and the big earrings but overall the look doesn’t work for me!

  64. Penny Boyer says:

It is the ugliest coat or clothing item I have ever seen! I’m all for wearing things that don’t look like something everyone else is wearing, but this coat is too much. The rest of her outfit works fine.

  65. JED says:

I think she looks chic and terrific. The light color toed shoes are very distracting, but the rest of the outfit is really cool. Wish I could pull this look off, but being only about 5’1″ I’d look like a puff pastry!

  66. bclaxton says:

The coat looks awful. the rest of the outfit is good.

  67. Cynthia says:

Oddly enough, I do like this look. The colors seem to pull everything together, however, those have to be the ugliest shoes on the planet! When she takes the coat off, I can’t imagine it ever being worn agian. Plus then everyone will see the too-short skirt.

  68. Rosetta says:

There is NOTHING I like about this outfit. It screams “aging drag queen”. One word. Yuck.

  69. sarahbaldwin says:

The coat OR the shoes, please. The two are competing for our attention.

  70. Marcia Mason says:

Cool! Love the long vest, it’s a real statement piece. Skirt’s a little too short, but she has the legs for the look.

  71. Anastasia Coza says:

Oh my! Words escape me — and not in a good way! Someone in their late teens/early twenties _might_ be better suited to this look….but somehow I don’t think I’d like it then, ether!

  72. Trisha says:

“…she looks elegant…” Are you serious?? I started laughing when I saw this. The coat looks like padded coat hangers sewn together. Is that a scarf, or part of the dress? Good gracious, I hope that is not a baby-doll dress.I suppose if you are looking for attention, this is one way to get it. Wonder what men think of this get-up.

  73. saretta says:

Not crazy about the coat, kind of odd and not warm (a priority for me personally). But the thing that bothers me most about this photo, is that she looks so underweight!

  74. Pat says:

Like her hair that’s it. I am sure that coat was difficult to make. That doesn’t make it desirable. This is a coat with vents. I have that on my a/c. She gets peoples attention so she accomplished what she set out to do. Not for the person who is trying to put together a basic or capsule wardrobe is it?

  75. mosegert@sbcglobal.net says:

This lady’s outfit is over the top.Too much going on.I dont care for anything about the outfit. It’s as if she did not give how she was dressing too much thought,
Drop the coat off at a consignment shop…………it does look like hot dogs hanging off her as a previous writer wrote!
Hate the shoes too…don’t match.I would have to see her without the coat too, maybe the shoes do fit the outfit but you cant tell.I think that a splash of a color would have been a good choice here too but where…I don’t know?Jewelry perhaps?

  76. SusieS says:

She looks like a Puli hound in heels!

  77. FabulousMimi says:

too much going on here. the coat is just over powering her.

  78. Esther Bradley-DeTally says:

She pulls it off, though I wondered how 10 little kittens would enjoy crawling up her legs and on to a romper room of swings!

  79. RRendina says:

    Those shoes are distrating me!

  80. Dianewf says:

Fabulous sans the dreadful shoes, but she looks happy!

  81. MJ says:

She looks like an idiot. Trying this hard just makes her look old and foolish.

  82. jrehubbard@yahoo.com says:

The white spectator tips of the shoes do not go with the rest of the outfit, hold those shoes until Spring. Personally hate the coat, but if the shoes were less jarring the outfit works.

  83. CDSmile says:

This look is daring and original! I love the outfit.
The designer was definitely thinking outside of the
    box. I would wear it!

  84. Jvgend says:

Hot! Only part wrong is the white tips on the shoe but overall, she’s owning it!

  85. sattalia says:

She looked great. A real head turner. Wish I could pull it off so elegantly.

  86. VJ says:

I like everything about this look, except the coat. What is it? I know Susan is probably an icon in the fashion industry, but really. It looks like a bunch of hot dogs strung together. However, if this were a costume in a futuristic film I think the look would be perfect.

The coat, not for me. But I love the rest of the outfit. Well, what I can see of it.

I would love to have those legs!
