{What do you think of this look?} Efva Attling

This woman has it all: confidence, little black dress, leather, retro glasses, platforms and a peace sign.….oh, and might we also mention–she’s Sweden’s most famous jewelry designer, Efva Attling. Efva’s pieces have appeared everywhere from Madonna’s neck to H&M stores. But, what do you think FOFs–is she queen of accessories or queen of excess?

Sherrie Mathieson: “The mix of feminine and masculine pieces are original and really right for her. I love the neutral palette, the proportions and use of repeated, interesting textures. She went easy on the black leather–keeping it soft and sporty. The peace sign keeps her youthful and modern. Right-on!”

Sherrie Mathieson is a leading style expert and Random House author of Steal this Style and Forever Cool.

Lovey Dash: “I love the way she looks and her attitude. The jacket would not have been my first choice but…it works. The dress length makes her outfit age appropriate and her oversized bag is ready for a day of schlepping. It’s different, refreshing, fun…she’s rocking it!”

Lovey Dash is a Beverly Hills-based stylist. She was formerly in VIP sales for Louis Vuitton on Rodeo Drive.

.
Terry Gibralter: “I love her fun-loving expression…but, unfortunately I don’t love the outfit. That fit and flare dress feels too feminine and at odds with the other elements. I’d prefer it with more classic pieces like a trench coat and pumps. That strappy thing with the peace sign—is it jewelry or suspenders? I can’t figure it out. ”

Terry Gibralter is the Sr. Vice President and Creative Director at Grey advertising as well as a fashion stylist and the creator of these clever work accessories.
.

Susan Hersh: “I really like the leather bomber jacket and handbag–very original. Two-tone platform wedges are cool this season, but the harness necklace, beaded ankle bracelets and leather band below the knee are trying to be “too cool”. This woman overkilled a really good outfit with too many accessories. ”

Susan Hersh is a Ford model and the host and executive producer of Meet The Experts.

I love everything she’s wearing. Just not all together. I’d replace the dress with leggings. Or if the jacket were shorter to allow the dress to flare, and wore it with a simpler pump, I would let her dress me.

I think she’d look better by removing the jacket & changing her hairstyle

I love the look! If you’ve got it, flaunt it. Nothing flashy here, only fabulous!

Don’t like the jacket and don’t like it with the dress. Also, I never leave the house without earrings.

I really don’t care for Efva Attlling style. It seems too heavy.

I have seen worse eccentric styles. I wouldn’t wear it myself but appreciate the effort. Those shoes….

I showed the photo to some young people and they all laughed. My first impression was OMG. I think its hideous. The dress is too young. The shoes, ugh, clunky like the jacket. I agree the jacket would go great with pants. But it looks like she dressed at someone else’s house and borrowed the only jacket that was in the closet.

Shoes don’t go with the dress, the dress does not go with the jacket and the necklace??? does not go with any of it. None it works together.

Surprisingly I like it! The harness necklace not so much, in fact I can’t imagine that looking good on anyone of any age.

The dress is adorable and she can pull it off. The jacket is also darling as are the shoes . Her youthful attitude and beauty only add to them. However the dress does not, in my opinion, go with the jacket and shoes. I kinda like the harness, I think it adds some interest to a pretty plain dress. Maybe I’m old fashioned but I think dresses should be worn with feminine shoes and outwear. Leather bomber jackets and furry booties are for jeans…

I think each piece is nice but they do not go together. If she keeps the dress, she needs to lose the jacket, peace harness?, and shoes and replace them with a jacket that has a slimmer silhouette, a nice necklace and pump shoes. On the other hand she could lose the dress and wear slacks with a turtleneck and keep everything else except the peace harness. I don’t get that at all.
Other than that she looks great. 🙂

She could lose the shoes, the peace sign, the ankle bracelets and start again with a jacket that goes with that nice dress.

Don’t know why so many say she’s “trying to look young.” Were she wearing hot pants and a tank top I might agree, but this looks “normal” to me. And I don’t think she’s wearing ankle bracelets (even if she were, I wouldn’t knock her for it). Those are the tops of her socks, rolled down. LOVE the peace symbol, though can’t figure out exactly how and where it’s attached. And calling that bag “oversized” is just weird (considering the bags I see, everywhere).

I think she looks great, and NOT AT ALL as though she’s trying to look “young.”

IMHO wearing a bomber jacket, particulary one with a thick lining, your lower half should have a slim silouette. Not sure I get the peace symbol as leather halter? She’s a very attractive women nonetheless.

She’s fabulous! Would I wear it? Only if I could get away with it…which I can’t but I think she looks great!

A little youthful? Maybe but her beautiful confident smile means she can carry it off… If the skirt was longer it would not go at all with the style! Uh uh….

She looks FABULOUS! I wish I had such confidence!

She started with a neutral pallette and a really great dress, then layered on some pop – but still in the same palette. It follows all the ‘rules’, looks good, and fun, too! I like it. BTW, FABULOUS legs!

This is a classic case of mutton dressed as lamb. She is clearly not familiar with the “less is more” concept.

NOpe. Doesn’t work. It’s too much and looks like she’s trying too hard. Ditch the jacket for something with cleaner lines, nix the peace symbol and go for classic pumps.

I didn’t see any jewelry in the traditional sense, and nothing excessive at all. I don’t know what’s going on with the ankles, though, are those socks or what is bulging? The furry boots and jacket look warm. She’s a sharp cookie, except for the ankles????

I’m more the Audrey Hepburn, Jackie Kennedy classic look type where less is more. This is just TOOOOOOO much. It’s also not an age appropriate look.

I think the skirt needs lengthening—remove the tied up jewelry–please—let her understand that more is NOT better—remove the jacket and give it to the teen GOOD WILL. She does not look “YOUNG”, she looks like she doesn’t know how to accept her latest years!
The shoes show that she knows what is “IN”—but on her, it certainly looks like “Ouch”!
Allow the hair a few inches of length to soften the overall look.

She looks like she is trying too hard to look young. I think it’s the dress. I really don’t like it on her. Ditch the dress and ankle bracelet and wear black pants and a sweater. Maybe a peace sign medallion on a chain, not too chunky. Or maybe a scarf as westwind16 suggests. A scarf with a little color and pizzazz! This outfit is too drab.

The dress seems to young for her – perhaps it is the severe hairstyle that doesn’t go with it. In fact, this outfit doesn’t flatter her from the neck up at all. Maybe a scarf instead of that bizarre chest piece.
