{What Do You Think Of This Look?}

From her bomber jacket to her aviator shades, it looks like this FOF took style cues from Amelia Earhart. But, does her outfit pass with flying colors or does it crash and burn? See what our FOF Style Gurus think. Then, share your opinion by leaving a comment, below.

Terry Gibralter: “I really like the cool, fitted cargos and and the leather bomber is always a ‘do’ but the rest of the outfit is a miss. The lacy scarf doesn’t work with the sportiness of the outfit and I don’t like the colors of the bag and shoes. All the different colors she’s wearing; brown, 2 shades of rust, green, white and black, are really keeping this outfit from flying high.”

Terry Gibralter is the Sr. Vice President and Creative Director at Grey advertising as well as a fashion stylist and the creator of these clever work accessories.

.
Lovey Dash: “This outfit looks uncomfortable. Too many shades of what I call ‘luggage colors.’ Everything looks outdated. Crash and burn immediately! Well, except for the sunglasses.”

Lovey Dash is a Beverly Hills-based stylist. She was formerly in VIP sales for Louis Vuitton on Rodeo Drive.

.
Glenyse Thompson: “She looks fabulous! It’s modern and classic at the same time. I love everything about her outfit–FOFlight of fancy!”

Glenyse Thompson is a personal home and wardrobe stylist and the creator of Styleosophy.

Sherrie Mathieson: “Everything looks off–the hairstyle and over-bleached color is wrong for her and her glasses are unflattering. The black leather jacket creates too ‘hard’ of a look. The doily-like scarf is completely out of place with the outfit. The bag is way too large. Dark brown to match her belt would have been better. The shoes shorten her legs. A pair of dark brown riding boots would have been a better choice.”

Sherrie Mathieson is a leading style expert and Random House author of Steal this Style and Forever Cool.

Susan Sommers: “I love leather and often wear the same leather pieces year after year in different ways. And while a black leather jacket is my item of choice, sometimes it just looks better in brown. The jacket in a rich brown or cordovan would work better with this entire look. I’d then change the frames on the aviators so they are a bit more like the Ray Bans worn in the film, “Five Easy Pieces,” with thin silver or gold rims all around. The lace scarf is a nice touch.”

Susan Sommers is a personal branding and wardrobing specialist, founder of Dresszing and author of two fashion bibles, French Chic and Italian Chic.

Susan Hersh: “Too many shades of brown! A black, leather bomber jacket looks best with black leather accessories. This handbag choice overwhelms her small frame and the cognac color seems
obtrusive. I like feminine mixed with biker chic but the lace scarf is outdated. There are plenty of
feminine tops with tulle or lace that are more on-trend.”

Susan Hersh is a Ford model and the host and executive producer of Meet The Experts.

It’s a jungle out there! From her safari hat to her tiger sweater, this FOF’s outfit belongs on the set of an “Out of Africa” movie remake. We appreciate a woman who shows her wild side, but was this one wildly ridiculous? See what our FOFs think, then share your opinion in the comments, below.

Terry Gibralter: “I’m mixed on this one. Her sweater is beautiful and perfectly paired with narrow jeans and bone leather, knee-high boots. Her hat is cute and works well with her curls—she’s super youthful and attractive! Her bag, a gorgeous green YSL shoulder bag and would work with anything. Now the coat….too big, too ruffled, too gray and too wrong. I wish she had chosen a narrow leather topper or even a cool, knit poncho.”

Terry Gibralter is the Sr. Vice President and Creative Director at Grey advertising as well as a fashion stylist and the creator of these clever work accessories.

Shelley Zurek: “Unfortunate pairings. Nothing seems to go together. The boots and coat are dressy. The jeans and sweater are casual, yet don’t look good with each other. The hat could be dressy or casual. It seems to me that the pieces were chosen randomly. Each piece looks nice on its own, but together they say chaos.”

Shelley Zurek is the clever FOF behind the blog, Still Blonde after all these YEARS.

Lovey Dash: “This does not work for me. I love her hat and boots. I like her coat…but not with this outfit. It’s way too much for all of this. The jeans are jeans. The sweater is weird. She should keep her bag and work another outfit around that, instead.”

Lovey Dash is a Beverly Hills-based stylist. She was formerly in VIP sales for Louis Vuitton on Rodeo Drive.

.
.
Glenyse Thompson: “It’s a lot going on. Namely, 1981 is calling, it wants that sweater back.”

Glenyse Thompson is a personal home and wardrobe stylist and the creator of Styleosophy.

.
Sherrie Mathieson: “Interesting–although I dislike her hat, blatant ‘Y’ on her bag, tiger themed sweater and her frilled coat–I still find her inexplicably attractive. Perhaps it’s her naturally pretty face and hair that manages to trump her style?”

Sherrie Mathieson is a leading style expert and Random House author of Steal this Style and Forever Cool.

Susan Sommers: “This outfit is just too much–of everything! Too much volume with too much hair and too many broken lines. Instead of looking long and lean (the way Elle MacPherson, might appear in something similar) our lady seems squat and shapeless with short legs. Love the coat but would like to see it over a body-fitting sweater with jeans and short dark booties so her leg is extended. A long pendant necklace would also appear to lengthen her body. I’d also tie back her hair–since the coat is so big, her hair needs to be smaller–especially if she’s wearing a hat. Like the bag, but with this coat, I’d select a satchel instead.”

Susan Sommers is a personal branding and wardrobing specialist, founder of Dresszing and author of two fashion bibles, French Chic and Italian Chic.

Deborah Boland and Jojami Tyler (The Glam Gals):  “This BoHo babe looks like she is on her way to Africa! Her exotic flowing hair, animal print top, boots and suede bag communicate free spirit, while her floppy hat and ruffly jacket send a girly, romantic message. She needs to trade in the jacket for a more rugged safari one to enjoy her adventures in style!”

“Glam Gals” Jojami Tyler and Deborah Boland co-write the brilliant fashion blog, Fabulous After 40.

Susan Hersh: “The coat is fun and fashionable but the tiger Intarsia sweater is very outdated and adds unnecessary bulkiness. She should swap the sweater with a printed blouse for a more updated look. The light-colored knee high boots shorten her legs. Instead, a black, knee-length boot with skinny jeans would immediately elongate the leg. Lastly, chuck the hat, it looks too Annie Hall.”

Susan Hersh is a Ford model and the host and executive producer of Meet The Experts.

White after Labor Day? How about white after Election Day? This FOF is no slave to rules as she proudly dons the pearly hue deep into autumn. But, what do you think: is she a fashion rebel without a cause? Or did she get it all white? Read what our style experts think, then, tell us your opinion in the comments below.

Glenyse Thompson: “White after Labor Day can be chic, and this look almost made it. Her upper layers are really working, but her pants are so loose they look like waffle thermal underwear. Fit is everything! Choosing a size smaller in stretch pants help them keep their shape. Her boots aren’t doing this outfit any favors either, making her feet look huge, and completely out of proportion to her petite frame. Booties or a taller-shaft boot with a rounder toe would have complemented this look better.”

Glenyse Thompson is a personal home and wardrobe stylist and the creator of Styleosophy.

Sherrie Mathieson: “As for white after Labor Day…or in this case Election Day–I’d say it’s really more about fabric choice than color choice. This pretty lady looks bright but not summery. She uses layered white in wintery textures for a great total look. Her accent fall pieces in navy are an unexpected touch–perfect!”

Sherrie Mathieson is a leading style expert and Random House author of  Steal this Style and Forever Cool.

Lovey Dash: “This look happens to be one of my favorites. It’s so chic and classic from her gorgeous flat leather boots to her wonderful layered tee and sweater. I also love the proportion of her bag. If you really pushed me to make one change I’d say ditch the white bracelets. Winter, spring, summer or fall–this look is great!”

Lovey Dash is a Beverly Hills-based stylist. She was formerly in VIP sales for Louis Vuitton on Rodeo Drive.

Susan Sommers: “This look is pure perfection before, during and after Labor and Election Days. The mix of textures and fabric weights makes this outfit current and modern. By anchoring it with a dark handbag and boots, it really suits the season. The only piece I would add is a long challis, cashmere- or cashmere-blend scarf in a bold geometric print swathing the neck to add some punch and keep the ensemble definitely in the cold-weather category.”

Susan Sommers is a personal branding and wardrobing specialist, founder of Dresszing and author of two fashion bibles, French Chic and Italian Chic.

Batwing blouses hide a multitude of FOFlaws. But, by wearing one you also run the risk of looking like Casper the FOFriendly ghost. We spotted this bat-winged lady from Switzerland, in SoHo, New York City, where she was spending her 50th birthday. Tell us: is her look–haunt couture or FOFrightful? Plus, see what our style experts think!

Glenyse Thompson: Haunt couture! Excellent mix of textures and metallics–muted, silver satin pants, gold sandals and knit top with silver metallic strands. She brings all these different elements together for a chic and comfortable look. Love it!

Glenyse Thompson is a personal home and wardrobe stylist and the creator of Styleosophy.

.

Susan Hersh: I’m not afraid of this woman’s sleek, sophisticated and modern take on a classic batwing blouse. The metallic slim trouser is the right proportion along with the small delicate clutch. This one’s not scaring anyone away.

Susan Hersh is a Ford model and the host and executive producer of Meet The Experts.

.

Deborah Boland and Jojami Tyler (The Glam Gals): This gal looks frighteningly fabulous in her chic, bat-wing top and tombstone-grey, satin, skinny pants. Love how she mixed metals by adding gold sandals. She just needs to tie it all together with a gold and silver statement necklace or colorful large earrings. Also, this look needs a tiny tweak. We suggest wearing a seamless, nude bra that’s as invisible as a ghost. Happy Halloween!

“Glam Gals” Deborah Boland and Jojami Tyler co-write the brilliant fashion blog, Fabulous After 40.

Shelley Zurek: This FOF is so beautiful, she would look good wearing a potato sack…the only trouble is, I think the top is a potato sack! It’s poorly lined, oddly constructed, and just plain hideous. The pants are laughable except they do highlight this FOF’s long legs. What I see of the shoes, I don’t like. There is hardly anything about this outfit that is redeemable. An entirely new outfit would be a treat because this look is a tragic trick.

Shelley Zurek is the clever FOF behind the blog, Still Blonde after all these YEARS.

Terry Gibralter: “I think this outfit is no trick, all treat! I love a dolman sleeve top when paired properly with a matchstick bottom like this–very flattering! I also like the shimmery beige sweater. She’s even matched her cool blue-gray pedicure to her outfit. A few nitpicks: I would prefer grey or silver instead of the gold sandal to keep with the cool color scheme. Bolder accessories would work well with this outfit. Maybe a bigger, blinger earring, bracelet or even the right necklace to add some interest to the rather plain top.”

Terry Gibralter is the Sr. Vice President and Creative Director at Grey advertising as well as a fashion stylist and the creator of these clever work accessories.

Sandra Soich: “Love! I try and stay away from the word ‘love’ when it comes to fashion but she really looks pulled together.

Her casual chic look is perfect from head to toe. Her hair and makeup look great as well as her pedicured toes. I like the way she uses the shapes of the clothing (full on top and skinny bottoms). Her accessories are perfect. “Less is more” works for this attractive woman.”

{What Do You Think Of This Look?}

We spotted this FOF out-of-towner at Lincoln Center in NYC. As it turns out, she, too, was making a day of people-watching during fall Fashion Week. Her tunic which would be a good fit at an exhibit of abstract impressionism art–surely, makes an impression. But, is her overall look a stroke of genius? Read the opinions of our FOF style experts, then tell us in the comments, below: What do you think of her look?

Sherrie Mathieson: “Ugh! Where do I begin? I think this woman is still in her childhood–at least mentally. You might say she’s playful but the end result is inappropriate and not at all attractive. However she does attract attention and perhaps that was her real purpose.”

Sherrie Mathieson is a leading style expert and Random House author of Steal this Style and Forever Cool.

.

Lovey Dash: “Interesting…This almost worked for me. I think the dress and the tights are too crazy for the shoes. The bag is very big but hey, she probably carries around most of her life in there. I know that feeling! I’d keep the necklace and ditch the earrings or vice versa. The matching nail polish is too…well…matchy matchy. The dainty watch with all this chunkiness does not work for me. Last but not least, that hair color is outdated. That’s the first thing that has to go!

Lovey Dash is a Beverly Hills-based stylist. She was formerly in VIP sales for Louis Vuitton on Rodeo Drive.

.

Deborah Boland and Jojami Tyler (The Glam Gals): “This gal looks totally fabulous with her chic haircut, painterly dress and bold statement necklace but, the purple, plastic sunglasses confuse the eye and undermine her look. We say donate them to Barney the Dinosaur and get yourself a classy pair of Karen Walkers in tortoise shell.”

“Glam Gals” Jojami Tyler and Deborah Boland co-write the brilliant fashion blog, Fabulous After 40.

.

Susan Hersh: “This lady has a quirky sense of style and her hair color makes a strong statement. The watercolor dress is fresh along with the circular necklace but, the metallic capri [legging] belongs with a different look. Yummy python bag but it clashes with the flirty dress. [She should] go for a solid red bag and black frame sunglasses, instead.

Susan Hersh is a Ford model and the host and executive producer of Meet The Experts.

.

Terry Gibralter: “Overall, I like this FOF’s look but there are some tweaks I would suggest to make it better. I really like the dress—great colors and on trend with its painterly abstract print. I don’t like the necklace because I don’t think the color and shape work well with the dress. Perhaps it would be better to lose the necklace and just go with a bigger, more graphic earring. Although the leggings are the perfect color match for the dress, I don’t like the texture. Something more matte would look better. She’s gotten it just right with the shoes. Also, love her hair color and classic cut!”

Terry Gibralter is the Sr. Vice President and Creative Director at Grey advertising as well as a fashion stylist and the creator of these clever work accessories.

{What do you think of this look?}

We spotted this FOF donning nautical hues outside of a downtown NYC art gallery. We want you to tell us: does her look float your boat or make you want to jump ship? Plus, see what our style experts think!

—————————————————————————————————

.
Sherrie Mathieson: This FOF needs a re-think. Her cute figure would be better served by a less “cute” outfit that is not so busy and chopped-up. She is petite, so greater simplicity would suit her. It would also be more appropriate if her skirt reached mid knee–especially when paired with such high heeled shoes.

Sherrie Mathieson is a leading style expert and Random House author of Steal this Style and Forever Cool.

.

Sandra Soich: She gets a good score! She’s in terrific physical shape and looks great. The look is fresh. If I were to change anything it would be the shoe–I’d choose a dressier wedge. The look is fresh.

Sandra Soich is wardrobe stylist to the stars and founder of YourFashionTherapist.com.

.

Susan Sommers: I love the crisp, clean pairing of navy and white, especially in hot weather and find it especially refreshing on blondes. I also like that this particular blonde accented her waist in a brightly-hued, wide belt. However, I would have preferred another color over the expected red, such as a grass green, fuchsia or bright turquoise. Because the outfit is sweet and casual, I would swap the clunky heels for a pair of lace-up navy or white espadrilles; lose the necklace and instead wear a pair of big hoop earrings; then put the bangle, along with a few more, on the same wrist as her watch.

Susan Sommers is a personal branding and wardrobing specialist, founder of Dresszing and author of two fashion bibles, French Chic and Italian Chic.

.

Susan Hersh: There’s a whole lot going on here and it’s too much for the eye. The accessories do not work with each other. The red belt is not necessary, and the nude pump is too dressy for the outfit and should be replaced with a modern wedge. Dump the necklace and replace with a wide cuff bracelet on one arm and add the thin bracelet to the wrist with the watch. The right accessories would modernize her outfit–the current choice is outdated.

Susan Hersh is a Ford model and the host and executive producer of Meet The Experts.

.

Shelley Zurek: With the body of an 18 year old, this FOF would probably look good in a potato sack! Liking everything about this outfit especially the shoes and her casual hair. I think the belt makes it a little too Fourth of July, which is fine, if it is the Fourth of July! I think a light, silver chain belt would have been my choice. If she didn’t have these stunning dancer legs, the skirt might be too short but with her lovely tan gams, she’s ready for a summer day!

Shelley Zurek is the clever FOF behind the blog, Still Blonde after all these YEARS.

.

Terry Gibralter: I think this FOF looks quite cute for a late, summer day! I love the draped, striped top with the ribbons on the shoulders. The skirt is really great, too–I especially love the cool and handy piped pockets. The belt is the perfect width and adds a nice pop of color to the ensemble. I like the fun necklace as well. My only beef with this outfit is her shoe choice. I just don’t get nude colored platform killer heels with this easy outfit. Wouldn’t a great pair of colorful espadrille wedges look much more fitting?

Terry Gibralter is the Sr. Vice President and Creative Director at Grey advertising as well as a fashion stylist and the creator of these clever work accessories.

{What do you think of this look?}

We couldn’t miss this FOF visiting from Texas. We spotted her sporting a bright-colored sunshine tunic as she shopped in downtown New York City. Did our style experts take a shine to this FOF and her outfit? Read on to find out, then, tell us: Do you think her outfit is the best thing under the sun? Or a fashion burnout?

—————————————————————————————————

.
Glenyse Thompson: I love her whole look–confident, classy and comfortable. Perfect for any summer day…in any city!

Glenyse Thompson is a personal home and wardrobe stylist and the creator of Styleosophy.

.

Lovey Dash: I love the top with all its wonderful Sud de France colors. The white skinny jean and white tee under the top brings it all together. I like the big wedge sandal, although the nude color was too safe a choice for me. The oversized bag works as well. This outfit works for me rain or shine!

Lovey Dash is a Beverly Hills-based stylist. She was formerly in VIP sales for Louis Vuitton on Rodeo Drive.

.

Sherrie Mathieson: This woman looks terrific! I love her ethnic tunic–which I consistently say is a universal style for all body types and ages. I love that she paired it with white pants which enliven the tunic’s bright colors without fighting for attention. Her platform shoes are perfect (flat sandals would also have also worked here, too). The hoop earrings and large bag are just right as well. She truly shines!

Sherrie Mathieson is a leading style expert and Random House author of Steal this Style and Forever Cool.

.

Shelley Zurek: It’s a great day in Texas for me! The tunic is so blousey, but paired with the form fitting capris and camisole in white–she nailed it. I adore the 70s-inspired sandal as well. I may have swapped in full-length, white skinny jeans since the capri shortens her nice, long legs.  I also find the bag a little large and might have preferred something in yellow or red. Overall, the bright top captures what appears to be this woman’s overall sunny personality.

Shelley Zurek is the clever FOF behind the blog, Still Blonde after all these YEARS.

.

Susan Sommers: A very cool look for a hot day! There is a lot I find appealing: the white jeans, the bright, happy tunic, the nude sandals…Often, on warm days in the city, women go too bare. This tunic covers up any less-than-perfect parts but still manages to give the impression of airiness. The accessories are spot on, too–big hoops, sandals that extend the leg, an easy bag. Nothing looks contrived or too over the top. Brava!

Susan Sommers is a personal branding and wardrobing specialist, founder of Dresszing and author of two fashion bibles, French Chic and Italian Chic.

.

Susan Hersh: She looks so fresh and finely dressed. The tunic is well proportioned for the slim white ankle pant. The fashionable platform sandal and polished toes are perfect for walking downtown. Nice white bag to top it all off.

Susan Hersh is a Ford model and the host and executive producer of Meet The Experts.

{What do you think of this look?}

We spotted this FOF outside the Museum of Modern Art in NYC. “I’m visiting my daughter so it took me 5 minutes [to get dressed],” she told us. “All I have is one suitcase of clothes.” Given those circumstances, we’d say this teacher from Finland, passes our test. Read what our FOF style experts think, then tell us: What do you think of her look?

—————————————————————————————————

Sherrie Mathieson: “Sorry, but the minute I saw the hairstyle, I balked–very punk 80s and unflattering. It prejudices me against conceding any points for a good overall look. However, I like her Longchamp bag, but it’s sporty, horse-y motif doesn’t jive with the feminine, flower print of her pant. I do like the predominance of navy–so much softer than black–in her outfit. Thankfully, she knew to put the splashy print on her lower half (with high wedges to give her longer legs) and the solid on her well-endowed, upper torso.”

Sherrie Mathieson is a leading style expert and Random House author of Steal this Style and Forever Cool.

.

Susan Sommers: “This is a lot of look for anyone, but, particularly if you have show-stopper hair and a full bosom. I simply don’t know where to look first! She has a great face and interesting hair color and cut, so she should make those her focal point. To do so, she would need a smaller floral and different proportions: a looser top and narrower bottom worn with a shorter, less chunky necklace and bright bag.”

Susan Sommers is a personal branding and wardrobing specialist, founder of Dresszing and author of two fashion bibles, French Chic and Italian Chic.

.

Sandra Soich: “I give her credit, first of all, for her hair color. It’s definitely a step above average although, not quite sure if it’s age appropriate. The ready to wear pieces were fine, but I think the top could have been a bit looser and I would have not used the necklace which draws attention to her bustline. Shoes and bag were okay. Overall I give it a “C”.

Sandra Soich is wardrobe stylist to the stars and founder of YourFashionTherapist.com.

.

.
Susan Hersh: “Floral prints have been a trend this spring, but this outfit appears outdated. A floral maxi dress would have been better. Also, a padded bra would camouflage an unnecessary distraction from what could be a stellar outfit.”

Susan Hersh is a Ford model and the host and executive producer of Meet The Experts.

.

Terry Gibralter: “Flower power! There’s much about this FOF’s look that I like. She looks cool and comfortable and navy feels so modern. The wide-legged, floral pants are great. I like the top she paired it with, although I wish it were a tad less revealing or worn with better underpinnings. The bag is cool and I like the sandals and necklace she’s chosen as well. I really like her funky haircut, although the color is a little much. Come fall she can throw on a cute jacket and add booties and the flower power continues!

Terry Gibralter is the Sr. Vice President and Creative Director at Grey advertising as well as a fashion stylist and the creator of these clever work accessories.

.

Deborah Boland and Jojami Tyler (The Glam Gals): “Wouldn’t place our bets on this one. Looks like there’s been too much horseplay with the hair dye! She may think she is off the races with that tailored purse, but her flowered pants make her look more like she’s off to a romantic luau. Also, dressing is in the details. Notice the lace bra? A better choice would have been to smooth things out and wear a minimizer without all the frou frou.”

“Glam Gals” Jojami Tyler and Deborah Boland co-write the brilliant fashion blog, Fabulous After 40.

.

Shelley Zurek: This outfit is a whole lot of almost for me. This women has a beautiful body–very womanly. But, that very thin top reveals too much. Her hair is almost cute, but the variation in colors comes off a bit skunkish to me. If it were all one shade it would be just as edgy and not overdone. The bag is the wrong shape.  A half-circle bag would be much cuter. The pants are almost cute–it would be better as a long skirt.  She should add a long-sleeved button down that grazes her hips and covers her her arms over her tank.

Shelley Zurek is the clever FOF behind the blog, Still Blonde after all these YEARS.

{What do you think of this look?}

We spotted this FOF in the SoHo neighborhood of NYC. She’s elegantly covered from her head to her (perfectly polished) toes–but, what about everything in between? We asked our style experts to weigh in. Read their answers, below, then tell us what you think: Is it hats off to this FOF?

—————————————————————————————————

Susan Grant: “This woman is wearing a flattering, well-proportioned, seasonally- and age-appropriate ensemble. She looks great in the wide-brimmed hat which nicely balances the wide, cropped trousers. The crisp, white blouse camouflages any imperfections that most of us ‘of a certain age’ have. The tailored white handbag is a complementary and elegant element to the whole look.”

Susan Grant is merchandise manager for Muse, a full-service jewelry showroom.

.

Sherrie Mathieson: “For hot and humid summer days in the city, this woman looks really okay. I like the long vertical line created by her comfortable looking outfit, ending with pretty flat sandals, and the horizontal line that her hat brim creates at the top. Good proportions–the large bag, included!”

Sherrie Mathieson is a leading style expert and Random House author of Steal this Style and Forever Cool.

.

Terry Gibralter: “This FOF looks pretty cool. She put together a nice black and white ensemble for a hot New York City day. The black straw hat is chic and provides all-important protection from sun on the face. The lightweight, long black skirt looks cool, comfortable and is right on trend. I love the accessories—quilted white tote and flip flops upgraded with patent leather are city perfect. The white cotton top layered over the black tank could fit a bit better but all in all I say, ‘hats off to this FOF!’”

Terry Gibralter is the Sr. Vice President and Creative Director at Grey advertising as well as a fashion stylist and the creator of these clever work accessories.

.

Lovey Dash: “I am totally fine with the way this woman looks but, ARMS LADIES! They should be covered. If this woman did so, she would have appeared ten pounds thinner. The hats a little squishy but all in all she looks fine–neat and happy.”

Lovey Dash is a Beverly Hills-based stylist. She was formerly in VIP sales for Louis Vuitton on Rodeo Drive.

.

Deborah Boland and Jojami Tyler (The Glam Gals): “Layering can be tricky when you have curves. One thing you don’t want to do is to layer with a stiff, white, blousy top. If she had used a softer fabric then it would drape nicely and harmonize with the outfit. However, she got the hat right–the large brim balances out the long flowing skirt.”

“Glam Gals” Jojami Tyler and Deborah Boland co-write the brilliant fashion blog, Fabulous After 40.

.

Glenyse Thompson: “It appears as if the outfit is wearing her. Although she looks comfortable, her outfit lacks balance. All the elements of her outfit are large, and not one item helps define her shape. If she is trying to hide a tummy, the shirt she is wearing does the opposite. She could easily make this a great outfit by changing the top. By adding a vest, a fitted-and-flare tee, or even a cotton scarf around her shoulders she would add some definition.”

Glenyse Thompson is a personal home and wardrobe stylist and the creator of Styleosophy.
