Eyelashes – how do I go about increasing my lash length, the number of lashes and the darkness? Is there such a thing as dying them?

I have used what seems like every serum and product for eyelash growth, volume and darker color. For me, I have found that Revitalash, and I suggest the Advanced Revitalash, will transform your lashes within 6 weeks from DRAB to FAB. And PLEASE, DO NOT DYE THEM. That could be very dangerous for your eyes especially if you have an unbeknownst allergy to the product or any of the product accidentally gets into your eyes.

I am in love with Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash- Extra Black Mascara. The actual brush is the secret because itâs not to thick in width to work with, the short & long bristles nestle into your lashes & the tip gets into the corner by the bridge of your nose like magic. The intense pigment, volume, length & curl will enhance the lashes. Sephora is the exclusive beauty retailer for this product. For the full benefit use two coats for top lashes. I do not coat the bottom unless I have a casting or special occasion where I want my eyes to really stand out.

Smashbox Full Exposure- Jet Black- This is new mascara for the company. The brush is thicker & if you prefer a smaller brush then this may not be for you. This is a voluming & lengthening mascara that layers with fibers, has olive oil to keep lashes silky soft and the reviews thus far have been fantastic. It is great for sensitive eyes & can be removed easily. This mascara is available at Sephora and Nordstrom. FREE SHIPPING & FREE RETURNS AT NORDSTROM.

Yes, you can dye your lashes but in some states it is not legal. I would opt for mascara that enhances your personal lashes before tinting the lashes. Good luck in your search.

You must try “rapid lash” It is a serum used at night—- It increases
length and also adds volume thickness to the lashes. It costs approx.
39.00 but its worth every penny. I am on my third tube and always get
compliments on my lashes. You can purchase it at Bed, Bath, and Beyond-
or CVS. Hope it works for you!

Conditioning the lashes helps to prevent them from falling out – which can, over time, increase the length. However, for quick results (few weeks) I’ve used Revitalash before and have had wonderful results without any side effects. I do not recommend dyeing your lashes – the risks to permanent eye damage is too great.

Hi there–
Well, I just have to add my two cents.
Yes, you can dye them. When I performed this service in my salon, the dye also leaves a little “liner” on the lash line, so it give the appearance of darker, thicker lashes.
2. Start using organic and natural mascaras — Josie Maran makes wonderful a formula that also supports cancer research.
GOGO Instant Natural Volume Argan Mascara http://sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml;jsessionid=1CBKFGJDZ5OI4CV0KQNQQAQ?id=P268208&categoryId=B70
What it is:
A volume-boosting mascara that naturally plumps and curls for maximum lash drama.
What it does:
This mascara’s patented Triple V Brush delivery system coats lashes one luxurious layer at a time for full, longwearing, clump-free, water-resistant definition. The rich, hydrating formula evenly builds thickness and smoothness, delivering a full fringe of blacker-than-black lashes with dewy shine. This natural and exclusive formula dries quickly without smearing, smudging, clumping, or flaking. An infusion of nourishing, protein-rich Argan Oil conditions and supports hair growth for lush, supple, healthy lashes.
You can also get lash extensions — they vary in cost from $100 and up.
Also there are the serums — I happen to love Rapid Lash. I used it and it works. And it’s available without a prescription.

The best products on the market to increase lash length are the natural organic products. While most are very expensive one that is very good and not more than about $12 at local drug store is Mega Lash by Wet n Wild. Believe it!! It did take almost 2 weeks before I notice longer lashes but no increase in number or darkness. Unfortunately we only have a certain number of lashes we were born with and cannot make new ones once they have completed their life cycle and fell out completely. BUt relax because it is usually not that noticeable. It is the darkness and fullness from mascara and healthy organic serums that really work. Again I prefer natural products but if you really want to pay for it you can have false lashes placed and new dyes are available for semi permanent results. Cost around $150-$250 for initial set. Not too worth it. You can also fake the look with the use of liner at lash line inside lid in just dashes where the lashes are the thinnest.

Gedylynn,
I agree with all the answers posted here, from a moisturizing, nutritional point of view. But I want to add that there is one actual prescription medication made literally to lengthen lashes and make them grow in darker, called Latisse. It’s a liquid you brush over the lash line daily, and it works to help reverse the natural lash aging process. There are potential low risk side effects, so discuss with your dermatologist before starting a prescription. Non-prescription options include the Jan Marini and Revitalash products. As for dyeing the lashes, I really do not recommend it. As I mentioned several months ago in a NY Times article about facial makeup tattooing, there are many unexpected risks and side effects to permanent dyes and pigments, and even though the dyed lashes do fall out, the skin can get dyed too, and the risks of allergic reactions or infections are significant. Good luck!

Obviously, mascara is the easiest, fastest, cheapest way to create the illusion of all those things and there are many excellent ones. For example, Maybelline’s Great Lash is a favorite of many makeup artists. If you want something more permanent, you need a product like Latisse, which is a prescription product that grows lashes, but only as long as you continue using it. Eyelashes can be dyed, but only by a professional at a salon-you don’t want to end up blind or to otherwise injure your eyes. A healthy diet, proper rest and exercise makes every part of you-lashes included-look better, fresher and healthier.

Revitalash is a product that has worked for friends of mine. Jan Marini Skin Care came out with the first product, and you can find them on line. Latisse is the one advertised with Brooke Shields, and it is also effective, but could possibly need a prescription. It once did, but I don’t know about now.
Yes, eye lashes can be dyed. However, it should be done by a professional, as you could get color into your eyes, and it is very harmful and dangerous.
I agree with Deborah when she says that Olive Oil and/or Petroleum Jelly applied to your lashes will enhance them most naturally. In fact, if you use the Olive Oil, you will find that you do not have to wash it off in the morning, as it will penetrate into the follicle.
One last alternative is false eyelashes. There are eyelash extensions, which are put on individually (one last to one lash,) which can be quite expensive, but they should last for at least three weeks. You have to have this done professionally, since it would be quite difficult to do for yourself.
Then there are the lashes called individual, which are usually clumps of five to seven lashes. To apply them, place on top of your own lash and push toward the lid until you feel it attach. This takes some practice, however it can be quite effective and looks good when done properly.
Finally, there are the strip lashes. Start at the middle, applying to the lash and pushing to the lid, then take each end and apply in the same manner until your skin feels it.
Hope this helps. Good luck with a ravishing look!

There a lot of lash lengthening mascaras on the market. I use one by Maybelline called Falsies – it is a volumizing mascara, but they have lengthening ones also. Check it out!

There are several temporary options such as lash dying, lash extensions, primer under mascara and then lots of mascara, false eyelashes, or a lash serum that will make your lashes look fuller, longer and darker while you are using it. The deal with lash serums is that once you stop using it, your lashes go back to how they normally are. Here is a website listing some top lash serums http://www.lashreviews.com/eyelash-products.
Hopefully that helps.
Let us know how it goes batting your longer, fuller lashes!

Natural/non prescription remedy:
Petroleum Jelly or Olive Oil applied to your lashes with a clean mascara brush at night before you go to bed and then wash off in the morning with eye makeup remover.
Proper Diet:
You can enrich your diet to make sure you are getting the right nutrients and vitamins to promote eyelash growth. Eyelashes are made of keratin, a type of protein, and can benefit from a diet that includes high-protein foods like meat, fish, chicken, soy and tofu. Vitamin A, essential to lash growth, is found in eggs, fish oil, and red, yellow and orange fruits, while citrus fruits, potatoes and tomatoes are rich in vitamin C, a potent antioxidant. Calcium, also essential for lashes, is found in milk, as well as in dark green leafy vegetables.
Heredity also plays a part in the length, number of lashes and the darkness, but unfortunately, there isn’t anything we can for that.
