{Giveaway} W.H. Petronela python-skin wallet worth $200

FOFs Peggy Patterson and Judy Vojtech are giving away this stunning python-skin wallet from W.H. Petronela. Enter to win by answering in the comments below: Have you ever lost your wallet?

Thank you for entering. This contest is now closed.

Two Cleveland-based FOFriends, Peggy Patterson and Judy Vojtech, started a non-profit called H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Everyday) in 2008 with the mission of giving support to 18-22 year olds coming out of social services or the juvenile justice system. “Peggy and I were never blessed with kids, so our hearts were set on helping children. There’s one girl I’ve taken in as my ‘pretend daughter.’ She was born a heroin addict and she recently told me she finally realizes she has to be the one to take the stop and will do whatever it takes. It’s been very rewarding.”

Peggy and Judy ran the non-profit for a year, powered by their own money and some outside donations, but soon realized they needed to come up with other ways of fund-raising to truly fulfill their mission. “It’s tough to always count on family and friends for donations. We really need to do something,” says Judy.

In 2009, Peggy and Judy launched W.H. Petronela, a handbag label featuring timeless leather bags and accessories made from exotic skins. Peggy had always been an avid handbag collector, and Judy graduated from L.I.M. fashion school in New York.

They decided initially 10% of the profits from the handbags will support H.O.P.E., and they will up the percentage as they grow.

And my, are they growing! Last year their handbags were ‘discovered’ at a Henri Bendel open call for new designers. “We stood on line for three hours in the freezing cold and everyone was getting rejected,” says Judy. “Then, when they saw ours, they asked us to do a trunk show. They liked the price point, the impeccable quality and the real exotic skins we use such as crocodile, sting ray, python, lizard and ostrich.”

Since the trunk show at Bendel’s, they’ve received international orders, a boom in business and even got the opportunity to display their bags in the window at the Henri Bendel store on Fifth Avenue. “They said it was the highest grossing sales from a window display they’ve ever had,” said Judy.

“The bigger we get, the more we’d be able to donate to H.O.P.E.” she says. Doesn’t this story just tug on your purse-…er…heartstrings?

This wallet is stunning…thank you for the contest.

I’ve never lost my wallet, but I’ve had “parts” of the contents stolen from my desk at work. I imagine the thief felt it would take awhile for me to notice, but this was 30 years ago when I knew every dollar, every card, and every ID in that wallet.

Someone was let go about 2 months later, and I’ve always suspected they might have been the one doing this, as this became a trend (small amounts of cash, 2-3 checks missing, 1 credit card, etc.). This was way before electronic surveillance; we just watched out for each other.

I have lost my wallet in the past and it is not fun – I usually take good care of my things because I can’t afford to replace things I already own and I HAVE had my purse stolen a couple of times as well. What a hassle it is to replace important cards and necessities. I now keep a close eye on my purse and wallet whenever I am not in my own home. It is an integral piece of me and the wallet is probably more important than the bag itself and everything else in it. It’s hard to find a good wallet with all of the features one needs and I wouldn’t even have time to go wallet shopping if I had to. I like mine to last a LONG TIME!!!

Yes I lost my wallet once. It was so much worse than I thought it would be. It is not about the cash. It is all the time it takes to look up all your credit card numbers and the phone numbers then call all the people. Then there is the worry and possible issue that someone has already used them and racked up some debt or that they stole you ID. (The person who took mine ran from Delaware south and made it to Georgia biting gas and food.) then there is the hit to your credit rating, even if no damage was done by the thief, just due the cancelled credit cards (and I had an excellent rating). then getting a new license and insurance card, and replacing a spare house key (glad they didn’t use it) and a few checks… That was not the worse of it all, the heartbreak is all the kids photos that you can’t just replace. I also carried a list of all my important phone numbers (before cell phone times) that I did not have a copy of. I NEVER was to go through that again!

Infact, I lost my wallet in March 2011. I retraced my steps that day to no avail. For some odd reason my driver’s license and debit card were in a pocket in my purse so I didn’t have to go through replacing them. All I lost was a very cute wallet, pictures and phone numbers. Still feel sheepish that at this age I actually lost my wallet! Still haven’t replaced it; carrying “wallet stuff” in a makeup bag I received from a “gift with purchase”. Yes, I’m a dork. 🙂

It was a warm August day before school started and I thought I had everything locked in my office before student registration began. I was sure my purse and wallet with all my credit cards, id and basically my life was secured in my office. I walked down to the library with just my small lipstick pouch in hand and sat at my station for students to start picking up schedules. The morning was moving slowing, so I thought I would take a break and go and get my wallet out of my purse to verify my checking balance. When I got to my office, I knew something was out of order. The place was in shambles and my purse had been dumped out and my wallet had been stolen. I was so upset I couldn’t go back to registration. I immediately told my principal and the campus policeman on campus. Security was notified. By the end of the day they found my wallet minus all my money, credit cards and personal mementos I had collected throughout the years. The day just kept getting worse, because a detective told me I would have to notify all my credit card agencies, get a new license, plus put a stop payment on all checks ending in certain numbers. It was one of the worst experiences of my life. I felt like my identity had been stolen. I have learned to double check all locked doors and not to leave valuables in rooms. Take your wallet with you. I would love to win a beautiful new wallet to help erase the scars of the awful experience that happened to me in August of 2011.

Oh yes, the one and only time I lost my wallet was at work about 15 years ago, we parked in an underground garage at that time, lunch time came, off the three of us went to our favorite restaurant, here comes the bill, I opened my purse and sat there for what seemed hours staring into my small purse and the only thing I found were my keys and some make-up, definate panic, automactially you back track in your mind, when was the last time I saw my wallet?? Like a knucklehead I cashed my paycheck and also had an extra $200.00 in cash in my wallet to deposit after work. The girls were trying to calm me down, time to go home, looking everywhere while I walked to my car, called my mom and asked her to check the house and unlocked my car, I sat down, put my purse on the passenger seat and low and behold, there sat my wallet, it must have fallen out, at that point I did’nt care, there she sat quietly waiting for me to return, after a few deep breathes and a BIG SMILE, off to the bank, made my deposit, went home had a glass of wine, ok maybe two glasses, and laughed with my mom over what happened. Lesson learned in many ways. I still have the same wallet, it is made of alligator I bought years ago when I lived in Florida, tough little gator, I’m sure the Python and Gator will get along just fine, this is an awesome wallet, and congratulations on your success, you two worked hard, never gave up, giving to H.O.P.E to me speaks volumns of how awesome you ladies are, best friends, best partner’s, thank you for this chance of winning this beautiful Python wallet. I’ve never lost my wallet. This python – skin wallet might offend a few animal rights activists; however, people have thoughtlessly discarded exotic pets they shouldn’t have owned in the first place into swampy areas. Now these creatures are a problem. At least now they can be used for something instead of killed and trashed. Kudos to Judy and Peggy for donating to H.O.P.E. and caring about young adults that many in our society would discard somewhat like unwanted pets.

Plus, I was left without a license for the rest of my vacation! Oh well-it’s certainly not the worst that could have happened.

Yes. Just last year I lost my wallet in the parking lot of a large shopping center. (125 miles away from home) I’d searched my car, handbag, coat pockets, packages, you name it and nothing. I knew I had it in the last store I’d been to, so I knew I must have dropped it in the parking lot. I was already back home when I realized I’d lost it, but I immediately called the store where I’d last been to see if anyone had turned in a wallet they found in the parking lot. They said, “sorry, no”. I went through the whole nightmare of doing all the things one must do when losing I.D., credit cards, etc. and tried to put it behind me. Six months later, I rec’d a wrinkled up package in the mail. It was from that store! The note read: “someone turned this in and an employee put it in our safe. It has been in there forever so we opened it to get your info. so we could send it to you.” I started rifling through the wallet only to find nothing had been touched, even the cash was still in there! I didn’t know whether to fume, be thankful or cry. The next day, I mailed the store a nice thank-you note for getting my wallet back to me.
    My LOST WALLET story!

Yes, I lost my wallet many times and never recovered.
Two years ago amidst the busy holidays and preparations of my parents 50th anniversary, I took my wallet out of my purse and accidentally left it on my seat on the express bus. I only realized it after an hour that I did not have my wallet on me, so I called the bus company and told the dispatcher what happened. He was kind enough to radio the bus driver to check his bus. To our surprise, when we got home by 12:48am, there was a message that the bus driver was willing to deliver my wallet to me. What are the odds of finding a good soul? I got my lucky wallet and all of what was in it, and I also winded up writing a good recommendation to the MTA and to Mayor Bloomberg to give the bus driver a good citation. He did get what was coming to him! If I could have this wallet, I would trade my old one, since its been lucky to me, I wore it to death, seams busted, closures loose…it would be nice to win!

Thanks God I have never lost my wallett. I have lost keys and that was bad enough. I can’t imagine the worry when a wallett is lost. I have heard that you should copy all cards in your wallett, both sides, so that if it is ever lost you have phone number and card numbers to call and cancel cards. Sounds like good advise.

Yes, my wallet was stolen out of my purse, in my home. I have relatives show up unexpectedly to visit and had planned to take my kids out for ice cream. After the relatives left I went to get my purse and the wallet was missing out of my purse. It took me a while to cancel the credit cards and replace the drivers license because most of the id they required was in my purse.

To get my license I had to have 4 forms of id and I came up with an insurance policy in my name, my birth certificate and my marriage license. They finally agreed to let my husband vouch for me as the fourth form of id. All the way to the license bureau he kept telling me he was going to tell them he didn’t know me from Adam.

I keep most of my id, except what is necessary, in a lock box now and not in my purse.

I used to carry a wallet instead of a purse. Then, one day I was at the grocery store, laid my wallet atop my car while I put the groceries inside, then promptly drove off. Traced the route but never found my wallet. I began carrying big purses with my wallet inside and I haven’t lost my wallet since then! This wallet is a really nice one I’d love to own! It’s funny that this is the question that is being asked since I just lost my wallet yesterday. My purse was grabbed from me in Manhattan and all my ID, including credit cards, driver’s license, gift cards from Sephora and $900 of American Express credit cards which cannot be replaced, unlike American Express Traveller’s checks, which they will replace, were all taken. I feel lost and don’t even know where to begin. So this question for today about whether I’ve ever lost a wallet really hits me at the core.

I haven’t lost my wallet but I had one stolen. I had a tiny shoulder bag with a long skinny strap hanging on the back of my chair at a bar (I know, I know, things your mother always told you not to do!) The only things in it were my keys, checkbook and wallet. I never got it back and it was a hassle replacing my license and canceling credit cards, changing my house locks and closing my checking account. The really dumb thing was, I wrote a check to the DMV to pay for my replacement license and then I closed my checking account before the check cleared. Anticipating the problem, I went back to the DMV (always a pleasant experience) and told them the check wasn’t going to clear and offered them cash. They couldn’t seem to handle that and had to call a manager to accept my money. It all worked out, although a credit card was used for a charge of $150 the same night it was taken.
