I have not tried the sleep number but we did just purchase a Sterns & Foster Estate Top and we love it! I can’t even feel my husband move around on his side of the bed. If you or your partner are light sleepers, I highly recomend this bed 🙂

Thanks! One of the reasons we thought of the sleep number bed is that my husband is a very light sleeper, and I sleep like a rock! Maybe this would be a less expensive choice!

I have not tried it but have a few friends that have one and they absolutely love it. They have had the pillow top beds and said this one is so much better. Hope this helps you a little. I think you can try these out for 30 days before you purchase.

I can’t tell you how much I hate my Sleep Number bed! I paid a small fortune for it and would rather sleep on an air mattress. I have the king size which is two extra long twins put together and after 1 yr. of being in it it now feels like you are sleeping in a trough or canoe. Horrible! They will not help you if you need service and are rude. They will not send anyone to service the bed if you have problems and I would burn the thing if I could get it out the door. Yes, as you can tell I hate my bed…..

I haven’t tried a number bed, but I have to cast my vote with the Tempurpedic bed. I have neck issues and wake up headache-free now that I have a Tempurpedic bed!

So many people love the Tempurpedic, I’ll certainly need to investigate it. If it has no latex in it (I’m allergic), it could be the answer, too!

Yes, and I didn’t like it at all. My goal is to purchase a Tempurpedic. They are wonderful. It’s really such a personal choice but I have found the Tempurpedic to be the best for me. And from someone who has a hard time getting comfortable, this says a lot. Hope this helps

It certainly does help! I wish there were a hotel that used them, so we could check it out for a few nights without return charges if we didn’t like it!

Just thought of something….Some of the retailers offer a 30 day ‘no questions’ return policy. Just be sure you don’t special order your new mattress. Take what size they have in stock. That might be a way to help make your decision.
    Good Luck!

Thanks! They say you have 30 days to return it, but a previous post pointed out return fees. I’ll certainly have to look into that!

Yes, I guess I’m in the minority when I say my husband and I did not care for it. Be sure if you purchase one you are aware of the return/restocking fee, in case you are unhappy with it.

A fee for returning it??? They certainly don’t put that in their advertising! I really appreciate the heads-up!

The restocking fee is $199.00. The set up fee is $150.00. I was out $350.00 for a bed I didn’t like. Ouch!

I wouldn’t pay such fees, no matter how much I liked the bed! Thanks for the heads-up!

Although I do not personally own a sleep-number bed, I do have a few clients that own them. One client loves the ability to “dial in” their own comfort but the other client has an issue. Her husband likes a harder surface on his mattress and she likes a very soft foundation so that when she “rolls-over” there is a pronounced seam! I hope this is helpful to you

Both of my daughters and their husbands have one. They love theirs. They convinced my brother in law and his wife to get one. They, too, love theirs. I guess the trick is to find the number that’s best for you.
We tried the Tempurpedic. Neither my husband nor I liked it. It was comfortable, but terribly hot. It sure didn’t help my hot flashes!!! We have a Simmons pillow top. We are very satisfied with it. But, I think our next one will be the Sleep Number bed too.

Thanks so very much! I have a feeling I’ll end up with the sleep number bed, and just find the appropriate settings. I love that I can change it, and that my husband and I don’t have to have just one choice for sleep!

The “number bed” has a BBB rating of B which surprised me because I found many complaints regarding this bed, but according to their numbers 78% of the people polled where happy. Apparently the “number bed” is noisy and received a “fair” rating for comfort during sex (who would have thought this would have been asked!) I’m not sure what reason you have for wanting a “number bed”, but, I have to tell you I’m in love with the Bodipedic 10″ mattress foam topper, and at a fraction of the cost, I would suggest trying one. The downside to the foam topper is you’ll need new sheets with very deep pockets, at least 18-22″.

Thanks so much for such good information. The bed I have is more than 40 years old, and the springs are starting to stick through the topper. The sleep number bed costs a small fortune, so I’m glad to have others to look at before making the decision.

    Hello!
While I have not personally tried the sleep number bed, I know someone who has & loves it. The flexibility is great & it allows you to create comfort for each individual. Two other brands you canlook in the Natura, they offer organic mattresses & bedding and Keesta another natural foam mattress. Happy sleeping! Teri – twbdesign

I’m having a hard time finding beds that don’t contain the latex to which I’m allergic, but I’ll look into these. The sleep number bed is VERY expensive!

I wanted a firm bed, and went to Overstock.com. I did not like the sleep # bed…and had tried tempurpedic. I found a memory foam mattress, firm and at a great price. this mattress came in 3 firmess levels, and I chose extra firm. The first night it was so different, but after a year or so, I love it, and would get another when I need it. It is great

Thanks for the heads-up! I’m deathly allergic to latex, so it’s hard to find a bed not made with any latex.
