BraGuru has already mentioned Intimacy and I could not possibly recommend this store any higher! Intimacy stores are in most big cities and they are fantastic for their fittings! Caution: At the outset, please tell your fitter if your budget is limited, as their bras can cost as much as $300 and up; however, they do sell bras that do not cost this much. It’s also important that you know that, once fitted, it does not mean you can go anywhere and buy a bra in that size, as every manufacturer is not equal. I found that out very quickly! Intimacy does such a good job that I no longer have that dreaded roll under my arms where the bra fits. Don’t be shocked to find out that they will fit you with a bra maybe two sizes larger than what you wear now but a cup size smaller – or vice-versa. You will be so satisfied that you will never again buy a bra anywhere else!
I recently bought an evening gown at Nordstroms and the sales person called over to lingeree to get me fitted for a bra. She was very knowledgable and actually taught me a bit about how to find the right fit. Downside: the bra was $80!
I have two suggestions in NYC–Intimacy Bra Fit Specialists on Madison 212-860-8366 and Linda’s Bra Salon in Manhattan 212-751-2727. I am on the West Coast so I don’t have a lot of knowledge about local NYC shops. Nordstroms is always a good bet. They have trained bra fitters in every store.
