Is there anything that will help sagging jowls on the jawline other than plastic surgery? ANYTHING?

Check out Tanaka Massage (on youtube) and other facial massages and exercises. I have learned a lot about this topic (and also great skin care info) on skincaretalk.com

Quasar Red Light Therapy MD, I gifted myself one for my 50th birthday and it works wonders. I love it. Very pricey, but worth every penny.

The new tripolar radiofrequency treatment works quite well on the face and neck for tightening and lifting. A series of treatments may be necessary but many patients have been pleased with the results.

Try the lion face yoga posture. Close your eyes, open and close your mouth wide.
Go to yogajournal.com for more face postures. It energizes your facial muscles and rejuvenates your face.

Fillers like Restylane, Perlane or Radiesse can fill in around the jowls and camouflage them very well. I know you don’t want to consider plastic surgery, but a simple liposuction of the jowls would remove them completely and restore your youthful jawline.

You can go to Lifestyle Lifts and they will lift those jowels, but they are pretty expensive in my book. They do everything in their offices.

barbmayer724 – I have looked at a Lifestyle Lifts website but there is no information on what the actual procedure is. Do you have any info regarding this??

Make no mistake…..a Lifestyle Lift is a full facelift. If jowls are the problem, deal with them alone. The Lifestyle Lift deals with lower face and neck. Be VERY careful about the doctor performing it. Google the procedure. There are some real horror stories out there.

For instance, I was checking on jowls, which is exactly what you are looking into. It would have been over $1,400.00 just for the jowls. That is expensive!

    Catsrule,
It’s possible there could be several options to help you short of surgery. Without seeing your face structure it is hard to tell what would work best for you, but in addition to the radiofrequency and heat skin tightening devices (which may not have much of a dramatic or lasting effect, truth be told), and fillers along the jawline itself to even out the contour, sometimes fillers up by the cheekbones can be very effective in giving an “internal lift” or “liquid facelift” that can help reshape the cheek/jawline contour. But in the end, a mini-lift done by a careful plastic surgeon may really be your best bet.

Sagging jowls can be firmed by tissue tightening devices. These include brand names such as Thermage, Titan, Refirme and Pelleve. These devices work by using either laser light or radiofrequency energy to heat up the middle layer of the skin which changes the shape of collagen molecules and stimulates new collagen growth. The optimal effect is apparent at 6 months after the procedure.

Two newer devices, the ePrime and the Ulthera, aim to get even further toward surgical results. The ePrime uses precisely placed and controlled needles that are able to heat the jowl and the area under the chin more effectively yet still safely. Anesthetic locally makes this a procedure with minimal discomfort. The Ulthera sends ultrasound energy to precise targets of the skin to cause firming. The latter is reportedly uncomfortable, but both of these devices are advances in the aesthetic area for facial firming.

There are a number of new Radiofrequency devices on the market that do a VERY good job of this. In my office I have and Exilis Machine which I combine with Sculptra treatments and get fantastic Non-surgical face lifts!

Thermage CPT is a great treatment. stimulates your body’s natural renewal of collagen. This works to tighten anything from face, eyes, to arms and legs. Patients see tightening up to 10%, while maximum tightening is achieved in 6 months. Filler like Sculptra can also be used for the jowls and jawline.
