This is a great question that applies to everyone! Try the international travel page of “travel.gov” They post basic info about travel conditions, health alerts and other info, country by country and they also have Travel Warnings & Travel alerts.
One additional precaution I would add to all international travelers is to pay attention to weather alerts. After the earthquake in Japan, there were tsunami warnings in South America several days later. After the Volcanic eruption in Iceland, many travelers were stranded in Europe. Here is a good website with instant links for travelers for weather, health, currency etc.
