When it comes to planning your trip and booking the flights when possible ask for a window seat in the middle of the aircraft, sometimes where you are seated does make a difference. Try and stay away from greasy/spicy foods that may upset your stomach, drink ginger ale. You can also buy ginger root pills they help with motion sickness I have taken them myself and they have worked for me. As far as the being terrified of flying definitely speak with your doctor! Ask him if Xanex would work for you it takes the edge off and helps with anxiety, but again please consult your doctor first.

Always consult your physician before taking any medication, but often Dramamine helps or there are motion sickness wristbands that work on accupressure that help in addition to the “patch” which has time-released medication. As for the fear factor, I would suggest working with a hypno-therapist or other alternative practitioner to find a way to overcome the issue behind the fear.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ve tried Dramamine and it makes me sick at my stomach. I use the motion sickness wristbands when I ride in a car and that seems to help. Maybe it would help on a plane, too. I hadn’t thought of that. I think most of my fear comes from that fact that I know I’m going to get sick and I’m afraid of heights and just not being in control of the situation.

I would suggest speaking to your doctor about the motion sickness so he can give you something. As far as the fear of flying it is something you will have to work on there are exercises you can do to practice positive thinking.

I tried the prescription ear patch once but it didn’t seem to help much. Of course that was about 15 years ago and it may have changed since then. I’m sure some positive thinking would help. Where would I find these exercises? Thanks.
