Typical things to do include the cable cars, trolleys, Fisherman’s Wharf, Alcatraz, Lombard Street, Ghirardelli Square, Chinatown. I like walking the streets where there is so much to see and do. Walk through Chinatown & Little Italy. Find the Golden Gate Fortune Cookie Company. Tour Golden Gate Park and the Japanese Tea Garden. See Beach Blanket Babylon, the longest running play…very funny. Eat at fabulous restaurants. Have a drink at the top of the Mark Hotel. Wander through the Ferry Building. Take the tour of the Golden Gate Bridge or walk across it.
Gotta see Chinatown
Japantown
North Beach – the City Lights bookstore is a must…just because
Shopping on Union Square
Have a drink at the bar on top of the Fairmont on Nob Hill
Coit Tower
Haight-Ashbury
Watch the fog come in over the water
Go to a Giants game!! The Stadium is great!!
Too many restaurants to mention
Gump’s Dept Store….just because
There are lots of fabulous used bookstores, if you are a reader
Go to a play in any of the small theaters
The farmer’s market at the Ferry Building
The farmer’s market in Marin County – the community center there was built by Frank Lloyd Wright
Sausalito
Muir Woods
I could go on and on and on….
You can almost always find good Italian in the North Beach area, but I don’t have any recent recommendations. Not sure about Mexican, but I’ve heard good things about some places in the Tenderloin.

Oh….and at the Marin County Farmer’s Market they have a Chicken Truck – a large truck selling hot, fresh rotisserie chicken and roasted potatoes.
