I have to agree with Jill. Anything could happen anywhere but I might choose South America it is very interesting and many cities such as Buenos Aires have a European flavor to them. There are also wonderful places to travel from there like Uruguay via hydro foil.

As a travel agent that travels for a living, there are few places that are “off my list” due to world situations. There are always world situations…including in the US. Right now, I would not travel to certain Middle Eastern countries. It is not so much where you are going, but having “travel saavy” when you get there. Airlines are still the most safe form of public transportation.
