If you have heavy thighs, this means you collect fat deposits there and as much as we wish we could, we cannot spot reduce. All the legs lifts in the world will give you stronger muscles but will not budge or burn the fat that is covering them. To get rid of the fat you carry on your thighs, you must do cardiovascular workouts that put you and hold you in the fat burning zone. You have to sweat! This question and many more like it are answered in my book “Diet Myths Busted, Food Facts Not Nutrition Fiction.” I know you will enjoy reading it and it will clear up a lot of your confusion about what to eat and why. You can find my book at my website http://www.dietfitnessdiva.com my publisher’s site at http://www.idyllarbor.com , http://www.amazon.com, http://www.barnesandnoble.com, and many other websites.

Hi Jennie – The good news is, you’re not alone. Most women want to lose weight in their thighs (and butt). The bad news is that there is no such thing as spot reducing. Wherever you first put on weight is usually the last place you’ll lose it. That being said, it’s not hopeless!
Your goal should be improving your body composition. You want to lose fat and gain muscle. This can only be done with a healthy diet and the right combination of aerobics and weight training. Most women will spend countless hours on aerobics hoping to burn lots of calories. If you put your main emphasis on weight training, you’ll add muscle mass, which will increase your metabolism – even when you’re sleeping. And as you sculpt your upper body, your figure will be more balanced.
The exercise component will help you maintain the weight you lose…but you’ll need to focus on a healthy diet (lots of fruits & veggies, no processed foods, limit animal protein) if you’re serious about losing weight all over…and in your thighs.
Good luck to you! Shay BFitSanDiego.com

Thank you so much! My oldest daughter is very fit and tells me the same thing. She also says I should not lose any more weight and I should focus on weight training. I knew she was right, but part of me thought she was being too kind with her words since I am her mother.
