My husband and I saw a UFO in the seventies, while we were at The Jersey Shore with friends. I swear we did. What’ even weirder is that Douglas never wrote about it in his diary, which he has kept EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR THE LAST 40 PLUS YEARS.
Have any of you ever had a paranormal experience?

We’d also hear what sounded like marbles rolling across a wooden floor when we were in the basement family room, but the room above us was carpeted.

We had a ghost in the last house we lived in. When my younger daughter was little, we would hear her talking to it – telling it to stop touching her.

My husband and I spent our wedding night and first anniversary at the Stanley Hotel in Estes Park. I will never stay there again, as lovely as it is. All the stories are true, and while not being scared with broken glass, lights going on and off, mysterious visitors and children that were playing in the hall (that were not there), doors opening on their own – I just go to brunch there and call it good!!!!

YES! In 1975 I was in Lancaster, Pa and there was this very low flying, cylindrical object with lights that was rotating. We were on our way to Arby’s while we were in town for a Bar Mitzvah…It was incredible…and I’m not a flake who really believes in this stuff, or astrology for that matter. However, I figure there’s a lot that can’t be explained too easily.

My experience was I think in early 80’s, but I did see a bright light that I thought was an UFO. It hovered back & forth, in view from our north & east windows for perhaps 10 minutes. I had to go back & forth between the two bedrooms because I would lose sight of it. At first, I thought it was a helicopter, but there was no sound. Then, it disappeared in a flash towards the northeast direction. There was only one news report on TV a couple days later about a similar sighting from a midwestern state, nothing else. Was your UFO a bright light also? Did it disappear into the same direction? I am in California.

The lights on the flying object we saw were not especially bright but they were quite noticeable.

I’ve always had ESP, many coincidences or as Jung called them, “synchronicities” — you think about a person and they instantly phone you or you run into them on the street. And several good readings with mediums. Before one such reading, I decided to test the situation. I had a long talk with my mother (she died when I was very young, but I still talk to her frequently). I asked her to send me a sign that she was really there, present, at the reading. I asked her to let the name “Cecilia” come up during the reading — it didn’t matter how. This is a name that no one would ever guess had any connection with me at all! I just chose it at random. Do you know that, midway into the reading (in which this medium correctly placed me in touch with my mother and gave me some very accurate information and advice from her), she looked up at me and said, “For some reason I’m getting the name…..Cecilia? Or Theresa? I’m not sure why, but does this name mean anything to you?” I had to laugh. Indeed my little game with Mom had worked and she had sent the message back. It was a reassuring sign and filled me with love and joy that I haven’t forgotten. I know Mom was laughing too.

I have had many experiences in my life and I believe that everyone has the ability to sense or “see” paranormal things. I have two that are foremost in my mind. The first one is that I dreamt of my father dying the night before he actually died. The truly amazing part is the rest of the story.
It was just a few months before my 16th birthday. My father, a retired career soldier, was working the late shift at the post office. They had asked my to work overtime. He agreed on condition he could come home and eat and rest first. He had just passed his 3 day retirment physical the week before and was finally starting to feel comfortable as a retired military man. The post office kept him active and gave him a purpose.
He ate his meal and said that although he would have liked to stay home, they needed him and he had to get back to work that night. I started working on a project I had started and my mother went to watch tv. My brothers and sisters all had gone to bed, but as it was summer, I stayed up later.
A few hours after my father had left, the phone rang. My mother went to the kitchen to answer and I followed. As she picked up the phone I said to her I was going to wake my older brother, she would need him. As my brother and I entered the kitchen I heard my mother say to the caller that my father was not on any medications. She hung up and said my father had collapsed at work and they were calling an ambulance, they thought it was a heart attack.
I stayed home with my younger siblings as my brother and mother went to the hospital. I already knew what was going to happen. I had dreamt the night before that my father was going to have a heart attack. He didn’t want to leave my mother. He asked to her to die with him but she said she had to stay for us children. He then told her he would always be with her. In the dream, I asked him if he was okay as we walked to the burial site. He told me he was never more peaceful in his life. This was especially significant as my father was a man that was always doing something and at the same time thinking of at least two other things to do afterward.
To sum up a long story, my father passed away. Everything else in my dream that night occured almost as I had dreamt it.
The other event occured about a year and a half later. I was talking with a friend one night and I kept seeing a scene on the other side of the room. It reminded me of the movies we had watched on the super 8mm projector we had when I was younger. The scene was of a man in a shower and he stopped and braced himself against the tile wall. He slowly slid down the wall until he was in a sitting position on the floor. I must have not been paying attention to my friend because he started asking me what I was looking at. At first I wasn’t going to tell him, most people don’t believe you when you tell them these kind of things. He persisted and I finally described the scene. He asked a few questions, which I answered, and then told me it sounded just like his father. He had a heart attack while he was showering and passed away.

I was sleeping alone in my bed with my new baby asleep in the bassinet next to me and my other children sleeping in their rooms at the other end of the house when I heard a voice beckoning me awake. I was exhausted and did not respond. As result, the voice grew louder and though I was curious as to who it was waking me when my husband was away on business, I still failed to respond. Suddenly, I felt pressure on my shoulders and my upper body being pulled forward while the voice demanded that I wake “RIGHT NOW.” On alert, but not frightened, I opened my eyes to find myself sitting bolt upright and immediately, without thought, put my feet on the floor and went directly to the laundry room and flung open the unlocked door that led to the garage. I had left the garage door open. I quickly pressed it closed, shut and locked the door behind me and methodically raced from room to room checking the locks and my kids. The next morning I learned that there was a major prison break in the middle of the night and many of the escapees were at large in my area. Whatever it was… it was real and I am grateful.

My grandfather was in the Hospital but being released the next day. He had had a severe heart attact, yet had come back from it, although he had missed my brother’s graduation. While we were talking in the afternoon he stated that no matter what he would make it to my graduation.
That night at 8 pm I felt his spirit pass through saying goodbye. Ten minutes later my aunt called to tell us. “Grampie is dead” is how I answered the phone. She was shocked that I knew. This was in the early 70’s so there was no caller ID.
Forward a year and my graduation night, on the night of my grandfather’s birthday no less. I was sad that he would not be there to keep his promise, but I knew that a person who died could not be there.
My class were on the platform facing the crowds and we had finished the speeches, when the door opened…My grandfather entered the auditorium! Three of my friends were looking in awe, and tapping my arm to tell me to look. The minute that I had received my diploma and switched my tassle, the door opened and closed and my grandfather left.
Various times I have felt his support around me or his scent, but it was the only time I physically saw the man. I seem to always know when someone close is passing.

    Geri,

I have had dreams that later happened, the first one I remember happening later was when I was in 6th grade. I dreamed we had moved and went to new schools, and also met all these new kids. And learned their names in this dream. Less than 6 months later, we moved and everything happened as in my dream. I have also “seen” things happen….being wide awake…one event being my brothers and Grandmother being in an accident and my Grandma being injured. Later, my brother called me to tell me they had been in an accident….I asked him what time the accident happened. It was the same time I had seen my Grandma injured. The scariest event I saw was a building explosion……the night before it happened…….in Oklahoma City, OK.

I have had too many experiences to count since I was a child. My current residence is haunted by a man that makes everyone uncomfortable; family & visitors alike. Hearing walking down the hall, objects moving/disappearing, the distinct feeling of being watched. Everyone RUNS up the basement stairs, feeling like they are being chased. I am still unnerved when I am home alone after dark.

My son, myself and my two sisters have an uncommon amount of what we term ESP. I will reach for the phone to call one of them and it will ring before I can dial and it will be the one that I was going to call. This happens VERY often. One year one of my sisters and I sent the same identical birthday card to the other sister and we did the same thing when she retired with her retirement card. My sister’s and I live in different states and my son lives nearby. Sometimes these things happen so frequently it is spooky!

I have never personally had a paranormal (or extraterrestrial) experience though I’m open to the idea. I have friends and relatives whom I trust explicitly to be intelligent and honest people (and who are not mentally ill or using halucinogens!) who HAVE had such experiences. I liked Beth’s sensitive reply and agree that there are things that simply can’t be proven or disproven and you just need to accept them. I hope that we will be privileged to learn the truth at some point in our lives or after.

I have been reading this conversation with interest. Most of my family is “sensitive” including my children and three year old granddaughter, so we consider this normal. I have also been blessed to find myself surrounded by like people in all aspects of my life, including the church. I agree with Beth -enjoy the mysteries of life unexplained; open up to all possibilities, and pay attention!

I am a nurse, my CPR card was about to expire so instead of sitting in an 8 hr class I took a refresher at a local fire house – it consisted of a couple of hrs of refresher type instruction one day and then the test for skills the following week. The night before I was to take the test I had a vision (I won’t call it a dream because I was awake) that while the 20 of us were at the table taking the test – one of the participants collapsed and we had to do CPR. The next night, during the test, one of the firefighters taking the test collapsed, we had to do CPR until the medics arrived and took him to the hospital. The man died from a Ruptured Aortic aneurysm!

I stayed in a hostel in Ottawa Ontario that was formerly a prison, where prisoners were executed. It was rumored to be haunted. Two nights in a row there, I felt someone pushing up from underneath my bed, waking me up from a sound sleep several times each night. I’ve not experienced that any other time in my life!

i live in the home of the ufo experience…new mexico…never seen one tho i dont disbelieve. As for paranormal experiences, I have had many, I am what is known as a “sensitive”…I can see and hear things that others cannot. I have been in many houses that were haunted, and I live with entities every day in my own house. My son has inherited my “abilities”…he has seen and felt much of what i have. We have seen orbs, have had things fly across the room, I have helped him deal with what he has seen and witnessed. It is always hardest on kids…I should know, I have been dealing with this since before i hit my teens. Scary at times but always unique…always happy to talk about such things.

While at the cemetery visiting relatives, my then three year old granddaughter began pointing across a field at a tree asking “Who are all of those people?” When asked where she kept pointing and saying “Over there standing under that tree”. Needless to say everyone present was a bit shook up as the adults saw Nothing.

Jeri, if you define paranormal as an experience– spiritual/physical/ auditory– that can’t be explained by science, you are a member of a large group! Many organized religions include basic elements that ask us to believe in and be guided unexplainable yet powerful ideas, forces.,and miracles. I say, Enjoy the mysteries of life unexplained.
