My nephew’s wife opened up a studio that teaches The Dailey Method, a fusion of barre ballet, yoga and pilates. Have you tried this? It is an incredible workout.

I have been teaching a fusion workout I call Dance-ilates, which is also a fun mix of yoga ballet and Pilates. However, folks with no previous dance exercise experience appear to be self conscious in the class. I think adding the component of music from dance, and centering from yoga, as well as posture and body alignment from Pilates is an all win combo, but republic needs to be educated as to the benefits..

I would be one of your students who is self conscious with the dancing.
But, it sounds like a lot of fun. I love it that we have so many options.

It sounds like a good workout. I tend to like things that are good for your joints, balance and strength and which you can do until the day you die. I really like martial arts for those reasons and plus you are learning skills, which is a double whammy. I will look into the Dailey Method. Thanks!

I have not heard about this, but would be willing to try-I have taken yoga for about 10 years, but right now I have just restarted my practice after breaking my foot. I would really be interested-let me know the place and time to check out a class-I also danced when I was younger.

I just checked it out on line. It looks great… your nephew choose well! From what I can see it appears safe, effective and individual. I am curious about how she is training her instructors. If you have any information regarding this I would be very interested in hearing about it. Tammy_bodylogos@hotmail.com

I’ll ask her. I know the principles in the business and some of the newly added instructors trained directly with Jill Dailey. Excuse my language, but it kicks your butt!

Thanks Shelly. It’s nice to know these things. As I can direct people in these new integrated modalities as students or future instructors. Let me know what you find out.

I know they’re wanting some teachers in our age bracket, so it is definitely something to keep in mind.
