I am 55, a little overweight with a round face and double chin. What I really need is a chin lift, but I’m willing to settle for a suitable hair cut that won’t call attention to it. I’m afraid to pick a cut then live with the horror…I’ve done that so many times before. Any suggestions?

Check out your friends. If one has a haircut that’s really becoming, chances are she has a hair stylist that cuts to your needs. I know my stylist is fantastic but I give him free reign to cut what he feels will work for me.

I had worn short hair for years when my stylist had to stop cutting due to repetitive strain injuries. After trying half a dozen other stylists and being disappointed every time, I just grew it out. My face shape and chin are just like yours; my hair is very fine but thick. It’s now about three inches below shoulder length, shiny and healthy. I wear a side part and side-swept bangs, with one side tucked behind my ear. I get lots of compliments and I think it makes my face look longer. No one ever believes me when I tell them I’m 62. If your hair is an asset, you might as well exploit it. I get it trimmed a couple of times a year and maintain the colour. I’ve tried layers and they’re just a pain. It takes me about seven minutes to blow it dry (upside down with a little product for oomph). Grow it out and see how it looks. I feel more glamorous than ever and my husband loves it!

Ladies with round faces look great with cuts that have height on top with side swept bangs. To draw attention away from your chin the hair should either be shorter or longer than chin length. A style that is pulled back on one side and swept forward on the other could really be flattering. Look at pictures and websites for ideas.

Actually, people with round faces can wear just about anything. I don’t know you but a simple wash and wear cut with layers and a few highlights will give your hair more volume and height which will give the illusion of a longer face verses round. Whatever you do….don’t get your hair cut in a bob or a blunt cut…..it will draw more attention to your chin. Also when highlighting…..only highlight lightly through the top, this draws the eye up. I hope this works….my sister has this problem and I helped her as well. Good Luck!!

I would search the internet about hair cuts then find your face and look for haircuts that are good for your face. Also talk to professional stylist for some help
