Looking for a stylist in Northern Virginia area who knows how to cut thick, curly hair; who will cut my long hair from shorter layers on top to longer layers all the way down…sort of like a shag…can’t seem to get anyone to do it…they think it is an “old” style…but it really works for me…

Determine how long you would like your hair to be on top. Ask your stylist to cut that length on top and overdirect the sides and back to the top. This should give you what you want. If you have a picture, bring it with you. Look around for others with curly hair and ask for their hairdresser’s information. Thanks for the helpful info. I have tried bringing pictures — but they just seem to look at it and then do what they want anyway… I will try asking — the first suggestion you made — that might be helpful… And i will deinitely do the internet searches — thanks again!
