OK. So I’ve decided to develop the androgynous look….I’m over 60, letting my hair grow long, and wondering how far to push with this. Things to wear? I like the softer look and feel comfortable wearing a necklace, bracelets, and magnetic stud earrings. Any thoughts?

I love when we know what we want to look like…I love that look myself sometimes, Lauren Hutton does it well…It’s relaxed slacks in a darker color, crisp white shirts ,celedon or a soft blue shirt or if you like softer, chose a blouse with a softer appeal, Ralph Lauren has some really cool ones, they are very perfect for what you are looking for.. I love a cap or a hat , soft jewelry and use layers , lot’s and lot’s of layers…Also don’t do anything that matches, just blend everything with color and the look you want…hope this helps….

While you’re at Bergdorf’s, in addition to The Row, on the same floor, also check out Ann Demeulemeester. One of her primary muses is Patti Smith, whom you might want to google for her style. She epitomizes cool androgyny and is usually wearing sleek head to toe Ann, but very little jewelry.
Barneys also has a good selection of her line and if you want check out some of her jewelry, go to IF on Grand St. in SoHo.

Trousers in men’s wear fabrics, crisp white shirts, loafers or brogues. Leather jackets, jodhpurs, tall short heeled boots, smoking jackets, driving shoes. Think Catherine Hepburn or Diane Keaton. It’s a fun look and most anything will work.

Love it! Look at the collection from The Row at Bergdorf Goodman as a guideline for the type of dressing you’re speaking of. The long, column looks…like a maxi skirt with a big sweater hanging over, comfy boots, great looking tennis shoes, big handbag and TONS of jewelry. TONS
