Hi lovely oenophiles! I’m working on the food and wine section of the Fof gift guide and would love to hear your suggestions for gifts for winos!
If you could give me suggestions under $100 and a sentence on why it’s a great gift I’d be so grateful. Links to products would help, too

Thanks! Do you recommend a specific one?

Yes, the Sandpiper Red (2008) and the Chardonnay (2009). this is a family run winery and tours of the cave are by appt only and there is a fee but it’s well worth it. They distribute their wines to very well respected restaurants like Gary Danko’s in San Francisco.

A good waiter’s-style corkscrew. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen hosts or hostesses struggling to open an expensive bottle of wine with a cheap or flimsy wine opener. I suggest one with a retractable foil cutter as well.

    Pinot Grigio!!

Buying wine for wine lovers can be tricky, because there are so many different wines available, and people have different preferences. I think the perfect gift for wine lovers is a set of really good wine glasses. The Riedel Vinum series of wine glasses is excellent, as are the Spiegelau and Bottega del Vino. These glasses are expensive, so wine-knows don’t usually buy them for themselves. That’s what makes them the perfect gift!

For wine lovers, I’d suggest a bottle or two of Malbec (South American) or I believe the generic name is Carniere plus a fancy wine opener or two nice red wine glasses.

I highly recommend a nifty little gadget made my Metrokane: Rabbit Wine Aerating Pourer. No need to wait while your bottle breathes. Under $30, it’s a wonderful hostess gift and a smart gadget to have in your home winery. It can be located at Amazon, too, or Metrokane’s website.
