I have been using a complete system of Perricone products and love the look of my older skin. At a recent facial, the facialist recommended to switch your beauty products for a while…and then return to your original. Can someone suggest a high quality beauty product line to be my substitute?

As far as I’m concerned, you can’t go past Arbonne’s RE9 Advantage anti-ageing system that was recently clinically tested to outperform all of the top ‘department store’ brands. I am 65, and was using ultra-premium skin care products before my daughter asked me to try Arbonne. Honestly, the difference it has made to my skin is amazing. I have invested in their beautiful cosmetics as well that suit my ‘aged’ skin. I have found that I need very little, if any foundation because the RE9 has given me a nice, clean, clear skin again. Have a consultant send you some samples, explain how the system works, and you can buy online if you like.

Avon’s Anew line has some wonderful anti-aging products that I love-whatever your skin needs are. The Platinum line is especially nice for “older skin” as you mentioned. It’s not cheap-most products are around $38.00-but it’s not too crazy expensive to invest in for short term use, until you switch back to your Perricone line.

I faithfully use many Perricone products although I use Cetaphil to wash. I have very sensitive skin. Most product lines just don’t work for me. (Even pricey La Mer gave me whiteheads). My nephew said in passing that “you have always had such beautiful skin.” I will be 69 this summer. No Botox, no fillers and no face lifts.
I can’t really afford Perricone, but damn if it doesn’t do the job!

    Hi Sandy,
Your skin looks amazing… I truly believe if you find a product that works for you than keep on using it. However if you need a change or you want to explore, I recommend Nerium Ad. I have been using this product for 3 weeks and have not seeing any other product worked as well as this, my skin feels smoother, glowing and my wrinkles are diminishing… can’t wait to see the results in 60 days. I just became a Nerium Brand Partner. One product ONLY to use every night!! How amazing is that! 🙂

Hi Sandy, Personally, I love the Estee Lauder Re-Nutriv line. I was also recommended to switch skincare for a while, so I alternate it with La Mer and I am very happy with the results. Good luck!

Hi Sandy, I agree with Traceybrown that “if it ain’t broke….” but here’s what I will say as someone who’s been a model for more than thirty years and has tried more skin care products than I can count. Sometimes, it’s just fun to change! Once in awhile, I like to try something new. My latest interest is all the talk (hype) about Linda Rodin’s Olio Lusso line of luxury face oils made with essential oils. Although the price is steep at $150/ 1fluid oz (and I have yet to open my wallet!), I’m intrigued over her use of essential oils. I HAVE tried LoveLifeLiveSkincare.com created by Dr Dottino and his team, including Ranee Flynn, former Creative Director of Elizabeth Arden. Although the line was originally conceived to address the drying effects of chemo, the line is so beautifully created that word of its replenishing effects went viral, along with the help of Oprah, etc so that it now embraces a large following of women who just want to have great looking skin. I also use Young Living Essential Oils skincare line but I am involved with that company so you need to know that. I do have to disagree somewhat with Dr. Krant (with all due respect to her credentials) about “don’t be fooled.” Instead of thinking it’s a crime for someone to “soft sell” think how great it was that she allowed you as the consumer to pursue the question of purchasing products. Of course Bliss has a “huge line of products” (duh!) and like any company, they want clients to buy their products…so do many dermatologists. I have experienced “hard sell” “soft sell” and “medium sell” and all I can say is, it’s important to understand that people (like the facialist at Bliss) are just trying to do their job and make a living! At this point in my life, I try to have a sense of humor when I am being pitched a new product by someone…and believe me, both doctors and facialists have said unbelievable things…you’d think I was the elephant man walking into their office! You already gave the answer to your question when you said you love the look of your skin…which is as rare a statement as me and other women I know waxing euphoric about loving our current weight! NOT! Thank you for taking the time to read this and if it was unenlightening, I hope it, at least, made you smile.

      Dear Late Bloomer Beauty,
Thank you so much for your detailed response to my question. Yes, I do love my skin and part of it has to be hereditary. My Mom at 97 STILL has beautiful skin and I am so grateful that I can still “see” her skin and that she passsed these genes on to me. What I was really lookng for when I asked the question to FabOver50 was a cosmetic line that would allow me to substitute the entire beauty routine I do every day starting with the morning…cleaning with a cleanser by Perricone all the way through his toners, serums, eye cremes and moisturizers. I also failed to mention that I do apply Renova each night which apparently is still the only prescription creme that helps to soften fine lines. Have you heard of Circadia by Dr. Pugliese that another FabOver50 member mentioned or how about Cindy Crawford’s beautyliine? These appear to be for young skin and not the more mature face and neck. I may not change but would like to be able to find a complete routine to substitute rather than just replacing the moisturizer…unless just doing that is acceptable.

Hi Sandy, I meant to reply much sooner but that’s what you get when you start a family in your fifties! There aren’t enough hours in the day with a seven-year-old! At least I burn off the unwanted calories chasing her around. I do have to say, that I’m not only impressed that you come from great genes but you are also blessed with longevity. How wonderful that your mom is with you at 97. I don’t know much about Circadia so I can’t comment on that. I tried all the LaMer products when I was much younger and I have friends who swear by the products but for the price tag, I was disappointed with the results. As I mentioned in my previous post, as I’ve gotten older, I have gone the “natural, no chemical” route and love the skin care system from Young Living, called ART (age refining technology), a proprietary Peptide Complex, along with the addition of the essential oils of Frankincense and Sandalwood, and wolf berry seed oil. The system contains a Gentle Foaming Cleanser, Purifying Toner, Day and Night Activator. I also use their ART Beauty Masque once a week, and alternate the ART Renewal Serum and ART Creme Masque every night. You can contact me through my website: http://www.heavenandearthoils.com. This is just a SUGGESTION. I’m just letting you know what has worked for me and as I head toward my sixth decade this July, I feel that I can comment on “aging” skin! Much success on your quest! Warmest Regards, J.R.

well, if you like your product and your skin is looking good….don’t change. If you decide to change, I highly recommend Revive, it is working wonders for me.

    Hi Sandy,
If, for any reason, you feel it important to change, then I would recommend Circadia by Dr. Pugliese. He is the mentor for many skin care companies and doctors of skin care who make their own products. Dr. Pugliese is the person who developed enzymes that will penetrate at the deepest levels.
That said, just as the others have stated, if you are not having a problem with Dr. Perricone’s excellent products, don’t change. It used to be a practice that one would change products every six months to a year so that their skin would experience something new and create more collagen. However, today’s products are much more sophisticated and the technology is more advanced that a new jar of cream is enough to act like a switch.
Enjoy. It looks as though you have very beautiful skin.
    Maria

    Hi Sandy,
Your skin DOES look lovely. If you love what you’re are using, keep using it! You only need to change it up if the products are no longer working for you. So yes, what everyone above me said. 🙂

Hi Sandy, I agree with other statements about if what you are using makes you happy, then no reason to change. That said, I have been a skincare consultant with Mary Kay for many years and they have just come out with a new line for the more Advanced signs of aging, the TimeWise Repair Volu-Firm Set. A fabulous line, if you want to change things up for a bit, though you should follow your instinct on this and not necessarily the facialist’s suggestion.

Since I am an Avon representative, of course, I will recommend the Anew products that seem to be very popular for older skin. Any of the Avon facial creams are high quality and very inexpensive too.

Sandy, to jump on the bandwagon here, I’ve often heard of facialists and other spa employees saying things to clients that have absolutely zero basis in any kind of science other than the science of sales. If she was saying it sincerely and they sell NO products there (doubtful), she probably was repeating something she heard somewhere else. There’s no truth in it. If you like the results of what you are using, there’s no reason to change at all until you start to have a problem. If you “love the look” of your skin, which few people can really say, I vote no change! PS… don’t listen when the facialist starts talking about your skin’s pH.

Very helpful Dr. Grant…as said above, this facialist pushed no products at all and I was really shocked. It was a big Spa, Bliss in NYC and there was no hardsell at all!

It could be that you didn’t get to that step yet…did you ask “well, what do you suggest?” That might be the key phrase they’ve been trained to listen for…but without you asking they are not allowed to give the “hard sell”…

      Sandy,
Bliss has a HUGE line of products, so no doubt they tell their facialists to do a general “soft sell” and then if you walk out asking about product options, they credit her for the referral. Don’t be fooled 🙂

Hi, In my experience the person saying things like that usually has a brand they want you to buy.I use Dr.Perricone too and would not stop on anyones suggestion.Unless it was the DR.himself.I love his acyl glutithione products, the eye serum in particular.Nobody pays me to say this,it just works.Don’t go changing!
