“I’m a little teapot, short and stout…” Put a pair of twigs on the bottom of a teapot and you can see how ridiculous it looks. Same with us short women who are not thin! Ankle pants on short women who are wearing flats make us look shorter and stouter. They call attention to the rest of our bodies because the look isn’t fluid. I love the look of ankle pants too but my full-length mirror and honesty about my figure tells me it’s a big “no” for me!

I want to be honest with you as a rubinesque person myself. If your legs are short and you do not wear heels, you will look short and squatty in ankle pants. They cut you off and ruin the line of your leg. While some may say cute flats will make the difference..they don’t in a person with short legs and large hips or breasts.
IMO, higher shoes are the key. You say you can’t wear high heels but how about an espadrille? A platform? A Clog? Any of these will look better with ankle pants than a flat. If you cannot wear these styles, I would say avoid the trend OR accept the fact that you will look your shape in ankle pants and embrace it (knowing that you will not look like the models in the magazine)!

    Hi kbush125
You most definitely can wear the new ankle length pant – it is just a matter of pairing it with the right shoe. It does not have to be a heel either – actually the cute ballet flats that have some buckle treatment or different color block details are the perfect shoe for this style pant. Also, pairing it with the right top is key – nothing too fitted – the tunic tops are great this year! Good luck – Kathymo
