Hi Marijo, wow I commend you. Once I decided to do the same thing and mostly succeeded, except it didn’t look good on me. I wish I had tried out grey hair with a wig. Anyway, the way I did it was keeping my hair short and going to Sally Beauty for temporary ( Demi-color if you will). As the other posts mention you could have light highlights or a weave to help keep the contrast down. Good luck.
First, question; why do you want your gray hair to grow out?
You can use a bit of hana for little shading, but over all you will have to go through growing pain
You have some options-like using highlights to blend the two colors-so you look less like you are wearing a strange hat-or using a demi permanent color ( a color that gradually washes out) to also give a more blended look. Going short would also speed up the process. Without knowing you-or seeing your actual head-it’s hard to give advice, but I would recommend talking to your stylist or colorist. More than likely, they have helped people with this transition before, and can help make it less awkward. Personally, I will color my hair until I die, but more power to you for embracing your gray. Good luck!
My ist cousin did this with great results.Cut your hair as short as you dare and have a pro put in a few very light blonde streaks.Depending on the base color of your hair,it should be a lot easier to go silver. If you are very dark, there is another way. Please let me knowâ¦hope I helped.
As a long-time artificial redhead, this is not my area. However, if I were to decide to go grey, I would talk to my colorist and get her advice. You might let it grow out but apply temporary color to approximate your current color till it all grows out. One of my neighbors let her hair grow out last year, and just let it grow out. Frankly, I wouldn’t recommend that. I am getting ready to write a blog post on grey hair, and I’m curious why you decided to make the change, if you don’t mind sharing.
