Diatomaceous earth is an excellent deterrant and is non-toxic. Remember to reapply after heavy rain or when you can’t see the white sprinkles any longer.

yes beer works well as I also found out yeast and honey, even dry dog and cat food pellets. Another way is to trap them by putting out a few inverted cabbage leaves. The slugs get under the leaves to escape heat and sunlight. Then just grab the slugs within the cabbage leaf and throw them away!

You don’t have to waste beer…the slugs will still go for, then drown in, water sprinkled with packaged powdered yeast.
Another sustainable option are ducks, who love to eat slugs, but only if your covenants will allow. Enjoy your garden, Pam

growing up my dad was a great gardener, i saw him taking mayo lids or any type of lids low to the ground, he would fill them with beer and slugs and grubs love beer they will crawl in the beer and drink themselves to death. or you can just keyword and search for any answers there are alot out there, this i know worked and we had great veggies from his garden.

You can try putting a two liter bottle with the top or top half cut off around your seedlings. If you have mature plants being chewed on, you can try sprinkling ginger around as a barrier. Also the traditional beer fix, just bury the dish or cup so an inch or less of the rim is above soil level and fill with beer. They come for the smell and fall in. It can get a little disgusting in the morning if you have loads of them, but I’ve had some success with this. Builders sand works if you sprinkle it around the plants too.
What has worked best for many people I know is Diatomaceous Earth. However! Be sure to get food grade Diatomaceous Earth, not the kind for pools. Good Luck!
