I have found the best way is to play the numbers game…with email, to as many employers as possible. Maybe set yourself a goal of 10 a day. Find the places you want to work, and the places that offer your kind of work whether they are currently advertising or not. Send them a cover letter with your resume by email. You can probably find a contact on their website. It works. This how I found my current job. Yes, it is a cold call, but by email, what have you got to lose?? Pvb

Part of it is being prepared for the job you are looking for; make sure your resume reflects what the company is hiring; attend networking events and keep your name out there. Talk to accounting companies as they often have clients looking. You are still young!

I completely ‘get’ how difficult this is …networking is key and thinking of creative ways to uncover opportunities is a full time job. Have you put your name out to ‘Temp’ agencies…? I would think that is the best way to get your foot in the door. You are lucky to live in Chicago.
