Has anyone found a good product for ethnic hair? Thought I’d try Mix Chicks since my hair is not kinky or too curly…any suggestions?

First of all i will say one has to experiment because not one product will work for everyone, but moisture is the real key here. I did not have luck with Mixed Chicks although I had high hopes and bought the entire product line 🙁 i did have luck with the Argon oil and Morrocan oil as others have recommended but a little goes a long way..In salon treatments have worked really well for me have been the Paul Mitchell Awapuhi treatment at about $50 that lasts about 6 wks and the Cappola Keratin Complex treatment at about $120 that lasted a few months and recently the Chi Enviro treatment at about $200 that lasts about 3 to 4 months. These were all smoothing treaments mind you, not straightening treatments, but they did help me to manage my hair. Recently I have tried the Joico K-Pak Revitaluxe at home treatment and I like that very much. For a very reasonable priced shampoo/conditioner that leaves my hair feeling great, Dove makes a great line too for the really budget conscious! Hope this helps…I am a really hair product junkie and try everything!

I’ve tried Mix Chicks and Carol’s Daughter…. I prefer Carol’s Daughter Tui Line for my hair; and to make it really curly I use the Johnson’s No More Tangles Leave-in Conditioner (in a green tube).

I have natural hair! I did the big chop about 2 years ago and have been natural every since. I have a really tight curl and my hair is crazy thick and super thirsty all the time. I’ve tried Carol’s daughter and I think it’s ok but I love love LOVE the Shea Moisture line. You can get it at Target. I put the conditioner in my hair and the comb slides through my curls like butter and everything smells amazing. Also, for an anti-frizz serum, I swear by Argan Oil which you can get at Sallys Beauty Supply for like ten dollars. Every couple of days, I like to moisturize the ends of my hair with raw Shea Butter. You can get a whole tub of that for under 20 dollars at Whole Foods. Hope this helps!!

Sorry for the late response-I just got back from Cancun! I don’t have a lot of product knowledge in this area, but I do know that Proclaim Olive Glossing Shampoo and Conditioner, available at Sally’s Beauty Supply-in or stores and online-is great for ethnic hair, and for anyone who wants a good quality but not pricey, moisturizing shampoo/conditioner.

I’ve been natural for over 18 years and I use a (and have tried) a variety of products. Is your hair relaxed? Permed? What effect are you trying to achieve? If you just want general information, covering a variety of hair types, try http://blackgirllonghair.com/

My hair has not been relaxed for years. I wanted a curly look so I don’t have to use the flat iron on it, but the curls are not tight and it looks wavy with little curl.

Hi–
I’m not sure which product you are looking for–styling, conditioner etc.
I have fine hair but have not had success with mixed chicks.
I so use and love Jane Carter Solution, Carol’s Daughter–love the monoi and chocolat line, Phyto/Phytospecific.
If you are looking for a product category in particular I can help further.

Well, depending on your hair type–dry, curly, relaxed, colored, etc. I have had don’t relax my hair but I color and blow dry on occasion, so it so it takes a different type of product. (I refuse to go grey. : ))
