I developed rosacea in 2005 – mostly on area just beneath my eyebrows. It started as what I thought were 3 bug bites, but it is rosacea. It’s turned the skin tough, scaly & callused. Most of my eyebrows growing in there are now white, and have a tough time erupting thru the skin. Help!!

I did see a doctor when it originally started – the doctor then (not a dermatologist) said he thought it was rosacea. Will see another doctor pronto. Thanks, all!

TinaLouise, have you been to a dermatologist and had a definitive diagnosis, because that doesn’t sound like rosacea to me. If you haven’t been to your doctor, get there pronto! I don’t mean to worry you, but there are certain types of skin cancer that can start as itchy, scaly skin and are actually skin cancers due to sun exposure. There is also the possibility that it is eczema or psoriasis. Check out what the Mayo Clinic website has to say about it. And good luck!

    Hello TinaLouise
From your description, it doesn’t sound like Rosacea, but rather another form of dermatitis like seborrheic dermatitis or even psoriasis. Rosacea tends to be a combination of flushing, broken capillaries with or without acne. My recommendation is to get the diagnosis clarified first as treatment can then be tailored to the diagnosis.
Generally hydrocortisone cream and a series of microdermabrasion treatments may be helpful to decrease the callus and scale.
    Good Luck!
